The girl sat down on the right side of the old park bench with a small huff, a crease between her brows as she frowned. The pup jumped up into the middle of the bench and even a cuddle from him didn't relax her.

The pup seemed to be the only good thing in the girl's world at the moment. Her parents were fighting and when the manager at the book store left, she'd been hoping to get the position, but she didn't. And what may possibly be worst of all, she was lonely.

The short, brown-eyed girl with auburn hair wanted someone she could talk to. She wanted someone to hold her close and tell her everything would be okay, even though she knew it wasn't true. She just wanted the comfort of having someone there for her through thick and thin, someone who knew everything about her.

She wanted to tell someone about the little stray pup at the park that she visited every day. Because for now, she hadn't told anyone.

The girl knew what she wanted was a boyfriend, but she was too scared and insecure to actually go out and talk to anyone. She much preferred staying at home and reading a good book.

The girl and the pup shared their sandwiches and water before she left and went back to her job at the bookstore down the street.

March 19th 1:57pm

The boy was practically jumping around as he ran towards the park. He was much later than usual, but he was very, very happy.

A new music store had opened just down the street from the bakery where he currently worked. As soon as his lunch break started, he went over to the store to see if they had any jobs available.

They did.

And the job offered more money than he was getting and better hours too. His lunch break would be earlier and slightly longer which meant he'd get to spend more time with the pup.

As the boy ran into the park and started his usual circuit, the pup started running alongside him and the boy's face split into a grin. His green eyes twinkled, and his dark hair fell in front of them, but he didn't care. He just brushed it back and continued running with the happiness circling inside of him.

After ten minutes, the boy sat down on the left side of the old park bench while the pupped jumped up into the middle. They started eating their sandwiches and the boy's mind wandered.

Although he was over the moon about his new job, he felt as though something was missing. His parents lived a few hours away and most of his friends lived far away too. Of course, he'd met a few people through work, but he didn't really have someone he could share his news with.

He wanted to be able to share things like this with someone and celebrate with someone. And he wanted to have someone that wanted to share things with him too.

He couldn't help but want that. To be the first person someone wants to tell things too. No matter how irrelevant or stupid it may be. He wanted to be that person for someone. And he wanted someone to be that person for him too.

The pup and the boy finished their sandwiches before he left and walked back down the street to the bakery that he'd soon stop working at.
