Chapter 34: Grayson Hollisâs Other Side
âWho was on the phone?â
Tristan asked curiously, peeking at Isabellaâs gleeful expression in the rearview mirror as he drove.
âJust some tiresome fellow.â
Isabella casually replied. Turning her head, she noticed a roadside diner not far away and her eyes lit up.
âLetâs grab a bite there.â
Tristan glanced at the shabby eatery and chuckled wryly. In the past, he wouldnât have been caught dead in a place like this.
The two ordered a few skewers and a couple of beers, clinking their cans together in a mock toast.

âTristan, next time thereâs a
moneyâmaking gig like this,
remember to call me.â
Tristan raised an eyebrow, setting
down his beer.
âSeriously though, youâre just a
student. What do you need so much money for?â
Isabella gave a mysterious smile.
âItâs a secret.â
Tristan shrugged. Although they had known each other for several years, he knew he didnât really understand
Isabella.
But he couldnât be bothered to pry. Everyone had their secrets, after all.
One thing was certain â Isabella was way more capable than those soâcalled young masters and misses!
Isabella indeed needed the money.

Setting
Chapter 34: Grayson Hollisâ¦
Back when she was in the
orphanage, she had befriended a boy who unfortunately suffered from
autism.
Over the years, a portion of Isabellaâs earnings went to anonymous donations to Harborlight Sanctuary, while the rest was spent on hospital bills.
Halfway through their skewers, Tristan was called away. Isabella
hailed a cab and headed to the hospital alone.
St. Peterâs Hospital was the best in Riverdale, boasting topânotch
medical staff and stateâofâtheâart
equipment.
Rumor had it that Alexander was a
major shareholder, but Isabella
believed his primary motive was profit, not saving lives.

At the end of the corridor, Isabella pushed open the door to a hospital room. A pale young man around her age sat beside the bed.
âGrayson, Iâm here to see you. I brought your favorite waffle.â
In truth, she didnât know much about him, only that his name was Grayson Hollis.
According to Ms. Greenwood, Grayson had been found at the
orphanage doorstep. From the
moment he arrived, he behaved differently from the others.
Later, Ms. Greenwood had a doctor examine him and learned he had autism, destined to have the mental capacity of a 7 or 8âyearâold for life.
After that, Isabella was sent to the orphanage, becoming Graysonâs only friend. Whenever someone bullied

Isabella, Grayson would step in, his frail body inevitably taking a beating each time.
Thinking back, Isabella couldnât help but feel a twinge of melancholy.
In her heart, Grayson was like a big brother.
She had tried treating Grayson herself, but his condition was in the mind, not the body. There was nothing she could do.
Grayson took the waffle, stuffing one into his mouth. His delicate features were instantly smeared with grease.
âDelicious.â
Grayson grinned happily. His two favorite things were seeing Isabella and eating waffle.
After spending some time with Grayson, Isabella glanced at the

of Riverdale.
A figure lounged on the sofa, sipping a glass of red wine with a languid air. If Isabella were present, she would have recognized him as Grayson, who had been lying in the hospital bed just hours ago.
Though his complexion was still pale, Graysonâs eyes now held a wicked glint.
âGray, the boss wants you to handle this personally. The offer is 1 billion.â
âNot interested.â
Grayson replied indifferently. Killing was a trifle to him, but the target this time wasnât an ordinary person â it

was Alexander Windsor!
The price was tempting, but
compared to the trouble that would
come with killing Alexander, 1 billion. clearly wasnât enough.
