Chapter 41: Charlotte

is a Lifesaver

Isabella didn’t care where Charlotte

would be taken. This was a case of

lifting a rock only to drop it on one’s

own feet.

Charlotte was unceremoniously shoved into a car. When she came to,

she found herself surrounded by

darkness, her hands and feet bound,

unable to move.

“Help!”

She screamed at the top of her

lungs.

The next second, the lights overhead flickered on. After the brief glare, she

looked around and realized this

seemed to be an abandoned

warehouse.

Chapter 41: Charlotte is…

Not far from her stood several tall

men, cigarettes dangling from their mouths, leering at her with wicked grins.

“Don’t waste your breath. There’s no

one around for miles.”

Charlotte shouted a few more times

in defiance, but only echoes and the men’s coarse laughter answered her.

It quickly dawned on her the predicament she was in.

She had been kidnapped!

That idiot Evelyn, didn’t she say they were supposed to kidnap Isabella? How did they end up grabbing her

instead!

Charlotte was utterly baffled, having no idea what had gone wrong.

Evelyn had only told her she hired kidnappers, not that they would

identify the target by her clothes.

“You’ve got the wrong person!”

Charlotte cried out in despair, but the more she protested, the more depraved the kidnappers‘ laughter became.

“Don’t you think this woman looks kind of familiar, boys?”

“Isn’t she that actress who’s been

really popular lately? Who would’ve thought we’d get so lucky today, snatching a celebrity. We’ve had our way with plenty of women, but

never a famous actress.”

Hearing this exchange, Charlotte’s

heart trembled.

Since these men were hired by

Evelyn off the black market, only interested in the money, even if she told them they had the wrong target, they wouldn’t believe her.

Watching the men approach, Charlotte’s spirits sank to the depths.

That night, Charlotte didn’t return

home. Edward and Eleanor were beside themselves with worry.

Though they knew their youngest daughter loved to party, she rarely stayed out all night. Moreover,

Evelyn had said she left the

Wraithwood estate right after the party ended.

“Master, perhaps we should ask Mr. Alexander for help. Only he can find

Charlotte now.”

Eleanor was crying her eyes out. She had poured her heart and soul into

this daughter and naturally didn’t want anything to happen to her.

Edward sat on the sofa, brow

furrowed.

“I’ll try.”

He went to the Windsor estate and

returned half an hour later.

“Mr. Alexander has agreed to help us

find Charlotte. Stop your

blubbering.”

Edward glanced at Eleanor

impatiently and grabbed the glass on

the table, taking a big swig.

Isabella, off to the side, gave a

mocking smile. It seemed Alexander and Charlotte’s relationship was indeed far from simple.

At Wisteria Hall.

“Immediately track Charlotte’s cell phone location. Find her and send

her back.”

Alexander sat on the sofa, gently massaging his temples with his fingertips. He hated being woken up.

“Sir, you’ve already helped the Sterlings a great deal over the years. If you keep interfering in the Windsor family’s affairs, I’m afraid

outsiders will…”

Sebastian cautioned carefully.

Alexander let out a heavy sigh. After a moment of silence, he spoke in a low voice.

“Charlotte saved my life when I was very young.”

Sebastian was stunned. This was the

first he had heard of this.

No wonder Charlotte had used his

boss’s name for publicity more than once over the years, yet the boss

always turned a blind eye and never stepped forward to clarify.
