The Werewolf Council Head Office
"So it's confirmed then?" Roderick questioned with a worried expression.
"Yes, there is a traitor among us." Demetrius spoke quietly sounding out of character. He was not one to lower his voice.
"This is a turning point in history, to think one of our own could betray us." Aries spoke with a soft sigh.
"It feels unreal. I can't believe it." Roderick continued.
Suddenly Demetrius spoke loud and firm.
"We were deceived but we must not forget, we are the council leaders of the werewolf society. We have no time to feel betrayed or hurt. Swallow those feelings and focus on how we are going to retaliate."
Reaching forward he lifted a small stack of files from the center of the massive round desk ignoring the many scattered files surrounding it. They were currently in the conference room of HQ. As the room was sound proof and lined with sliver, it was used for confidential discussions.
Placing his right hand on the stack he spoke.
"These are the only ones Emma trust, our traitor is among these five."
Flipping open the first file Demetrius starting reading.
"Lucas. He is currently the second strongest royal after Emma. He is our battle expert and his main responsibility is training our warriors. He is twenty nine. He joined us after his mate died twelve years ago. He was saved by Emma after he tried to commit suicide. She closed his mate bond and since then he has been forever thankful to her. He has never displayed any intention to join the witches and loves humans... at least on the surface."
"The traitor will never show a hint of his true colours, in fact he may even be the least person we suspect." Aries spoke while Roderick listened taking everything in stride as he still found it hard to believe that someone would turn their back on humanity.
Demetrius nodded in approval at Aries change in thoughts however as he glanced at a sad Roderick he knew he was still depressed. Moving the first file to the side he continued on to the next.
"Cole. He is currently our weapons specialist. He is twenty three and a noble. His main responsibility is creating weapons for hand to hand combat in the case that a wolf can't shift. Cole was the lone survivor of his pack after they were slaughtered by rouges. He has yet to find his mate and upon doing so he will leave the council and join her pack. He also has never shown any interest of joining the witches. In fact he is very passionate about protecting mankind." Demetrius read.
"I still remember the day we found him. He was only five years old. If his mother didn't cover him in her blood and made him pretend to be dead they would have gotten him too. It's a good thing a rouge's senses aren't as sharp as a normal werewolf." Aries added while Roderick remained silent and from his troubled expression it would seem he was re-living that day. Demetrius continued.
"Ivan. He is the third strongest royal and the head of the council's personal guards. His main responsibility is our protection. He is thirty two and a royal. He joined us fifteen years ago when his mate died. He too like Lucas was saved by Emma. He had lost his sanity and was on the verge of becoming a rogue when Emma saved him by closing the mate bond. He feels greatly in debt to her because of the fact that she saved him from becoming a monster. He is waiting for her to become council leader so that he could return the debt. In fact he is even more loyal to her than us. He too has shown no signs of joining the witches." Demetrius read.
Before continuing to the next two files he glanced at both Aries and Rodrick before continuing.
"Ethan and Ryder. Both lone survivors of their pack who was slaughtered by the witches. Ethan is the head of our execution team, twenty and a noble. Ryder-" Demetrius was cut short as Roderick interrupted.
"Neither of them is the traitor. We all know that, there is no need for investigating them." Roderick spoke upset.
Demetrius shot Roderick a cold glare before Aries intervened.
"Like we said before it doesn't matter. They are both individuals whom Emma trust and therefore they are automatically added to our list. Even if we believe they are innocent this is just procedure." Aries soothed over giving Demetrius a silencing look.
Demetrius released a huge sigh giving up. Roderick was too soft and naive. Both Demetrius and Aries was worried that when the traitor is revealed Roderick might be the one taking the biggest blow. Truth is Roderick is extremely powerful even stronger than Aries. It's the very reason why he is a council member however despite it all, he preferred peace. With Demetrius aggressive attitude, Roderick's kind heart formed the balance with Aries being in between the two.
"As I was saying. Ethan is the head of our execution team, his main responsibility is killing those who we deem is a threat to humanity. He has been with us since he was a baby. Ryder is the head of our stealth team. He is twenty eight and a noble. His main responsibility is tracking, he finds the threat while Ethan's team take them out. Both teams work hand in hand in that aspect. Ryder's team uses magical items created by Emma which helps them remain in the shadows undetected. His team also gather information for us or in a more blunt term, they are the council's spies. However we all know that's just the surface and only a part of what they do." Demetrius spoke staring at them both knowingly closing the files, for what he was about to say was not recorded anywhere.
"In truth, the stealth team is our assassination team. In the rare occurrence that we need a supernatural terminated without letting the blame fall on the werewolves, Ryder does the job. Like Ethan's team if there is something Ryder can't kill Emma steps in but everything done here is in the shadows." Demetrius continued.
"Ethan found his mate but she was murdered by a rouge, Emma then closed his bond. Ryder however never found his mate, even at such a late age. I think he gave up, it has already been twelve years, and there is the possibility she died before he got the chance to meet her. However if he finds her the procedure is the same as Cole's, Ryder will leave the council and join her pack." Aries continued.
Roderick then spoke softly, "I still remember the eight year old boy and the baby in his arms that Emma brought home. Despite the little boy being covered in blood, he made sure the baby wasn't. Emma found them like that in the middle of their slaughtered pack. She saved them but wasn't fast enough to save the others. It's why they are so loyal to her. It's also why they never get along well. They both since a young age have always been competing for her affection since she was rarely home. However while Ethan's love for her remained at a parental level Ryder's never did. To start with Ryder never considered her to be a mother maybe because he remembers his real parents. However as the time came and pass for him to find his mate he started seeing her in a different light. He fell in love with her and as time went on and he continued to be without his mate it got worst. When he does find her, he will go to her however if she is already dead... He will make his feelings known and start pursuing Emma. Things will get crazy especially now that Emma has a mate, we shouldn't let Ryder know that just yet." Roderick spoke surprising them both.
Even though the three were aware of Ryder's true feelings they never spoke of it. It was taboo considering their relationship despite the fact that they both had already out grew her and looked older than her as a result of her ageless gift.
"You're right. It's dangerous letting Ryder know she has a mate, for now that remains between us." Demetrius ordered while the other two nodded in agreement before Roderick continued.
"As the three have a special relationship it is impossible for either of them to be the traitor so I suggest we investigate them last. They are even more loyal to her than Ivan, they would die for her. Let's start in the order Demetrius called, Lucas first. Also we must decide who the next Alpha of the Crescent wolf pack is going to be. Emma's mate will be stripped of his Alpha position and banished however the two will not be able to separate or the bond will drive them crazy. We can control Jake's Lycan but we will not be able to handle Emma losing control, worst if her dark side take over, her father's blood of the fallen angel." Roderick spoke.
There was a short pause before Aries then thoughtfully responded, "Maybe that's why she has a mate even though she is not a werewolf. A mate would keep her dark side in check, she would never lose control with a mate by her side."
"That actually is extremely plausible, you might just be right." Demetrius agreed while Roderick nodded in agreement.
"One other thing, we should choose one of the five suspects to be the next Crescent wolf Alpha, that way we are able to limit their movement and keep a closer eye on them." Aries voiced.
"That's true they would be under watch by the council since they need to correct the previous
Alpha's wrong doings. I agree with Aries." Roderick decided before continuing.
"It is a good idea but we shouldn't choose either of the boys, now that Emma is human they need to officially become her guards. The choice is between the remaining three. My vote is Cole, Ivan can't leave our safety and Lucas job is too demanding. Cole however can continue making weapons and being the Alpha, arrangements will be needed to move his workshop. All in favor?" Roderick questioned raising his right hand in which both Aries and Demetrius raised their hands in agreement.
"It's settled then, noble Cole Johnson is the new Alpha of the Crescent wolf pack."

Ethan POV
I looked on as he stood there unmoving. Ryder Cassias a man who was even more ruthless than me the Execution head. As his hand slowly reached forward to caress Emma's pale cheeks I saw it, his fingers were trembling. A sign of weakness something I thought he was incapable of. Despite his strong exterior Ryder was actually very gentle with Emma, she is the only one he was different with. After all we had her to thank for being alive today. Ryder then bent down and whispered into her ear so softly I couldn't hear his words. Stepping forward I placed a hand on his shoulder in comfort before speaking.
"We'll find a way to save her." I soothed but it was in vain. As Ryder turned to me I saw the dark deadly look in his eyes, his blood lust shone as clear as day.
"I'm going to slaughter them all! Starting with that thing in the vault!" He growled out loudly as his eyes went from forest green to pitch black. Turning he rushed to the door before I could stop him, however something else did.
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeppppppppppppppp!
We both froze in our spot before turning around slowly in disbelief. Something we thought impossible was happening. Emma's heart monitor flat lined. She was dying.
Suddenly the doors flew open as the doctor rushed in followed by some of the nurses. As another nurse brought the defibrillator the doctor started opening Emma's top. Ryder responded instantly. Rushing forward his hands went for the Doctor's throat before he growled loudly in his face. While I was protective of Emma, Ryder was at a different level.
"Stop it he needs to save her! If he doesn't continue now she will die!" I screamed at him trying to remove his hands, the doctor was starting to turn blue.
Instantly Ryder released the doctor reigning in his wolf. As he got his temper under control the doctor started again undoing Emma's clothes before spreading gel over her chest.
Suddenly there were screams from the other side of the pack house before something released a loud thunderous roar. As the screams continued to grow louder the house shook as the scent of blood filled the air. I soon realized the shaking of the pack house was the cause of something large even larger than a werewolf and it seems to be coming closer as the screams got louder.
"What is that?" I questioned turning to Ryder.
"I have no idea but we need to make sure it doesn't step foot in here." He spoke to me before yelling at the guards outside.
"Men, no one is allowed inside this room, kill any and everything that try to enter." Ryder commanded loudly with a growl, his wolf was once again close to the surface as even his claws started emerging.
Turning to face the door squarely I stood prepared, I'll protect Emma as long as I breath and I know Ryder will do the same.
There was a loud crashing noise outside, it sounded like something huge crashing through a wall. Then the sound of growling and clothes ripping indicated that the guards were all shifting into their werewolf form. Since only packs can have mind link, we wouldn't know what is really going on.
The smell of blood grew stronger as the growls started dying down however there was one that continued. The threat, it was loud and clear and definitely angry. I wondered if maybe the creature escaped and is now taking revenge.
Suddenly everything went quiet, but we knew better. The threat was still there and just like that the double doors to the Alpha's bedroom was ripped from its hinges to reveal a rare sight. Something I have only ever saw once before in my life.
It was hunched over growling at us since it was too large to stand up. I could faintly hear the doctor yelling 'clear' before my wolf took over. For what stood before me I would need my werewolf. Glimpsing to my right Ryder was already doing the same. Why it was even attacking us was a mystery but none the less we need to protect Emma.
Now fully shifted, both of us stood before the massive beast that barley fit through the double doors. It still confused me though, why was this beast even here? It made no sense. However right now I have no time to play connect the dots. The lycan moved preparing to attack and as its eyes stared us down I could feel his strong dominance right on the surface so much so that it was suffocating. This was not just a normal Lycan but an Alpha and he was furious.
