Beep! Beep! Beep!

As the Hybrid's heart monitor started back up again the guardian angel released her charge from her angelic glow. Her beautiful white wings shrunk smaller and smaller until they disappeared completely. Her bright blonde hair returned to its brunette blonde colour and her eyes slowly changed back to its forest green as the glowing died away, almost as if nothing ever happened, key word almost.

The evidence was everywhere. The destroyed balcony doors, two of the strongest warriors lying below, the Alpha Lycan that trusted her with his mate and lastly the very much alive Hybrid who was dead just minutes ago.

Shifting on the other side of the room caught Alice's attention. Turning she was still in a daze. She knew what happened but she had no control over herself. She didn't know how she did what she did or if she should run from the Alpha Lycan now facing her.

Frozen on spot he approached but instead of sinking his teeth into her like she expected he simply nodded at her almost like a 'thank you' before moving around her to get to his mate. Alice looked on in astonishment at her Alpha's behaviour who seemed to blocked the whole world out while focusing on just his mate.

Slowly he lowered his massive head towards Emma's chest obviously being very careful of her fragile state. Now with his ear lightly resting directly above her heart he listened to her heart beat for a few minutes. Lost in his own world it would seem her heart beat was the best thing he had ever heard. Slowly pulling back he nuzzled her neck before taking deep breathes of her scent. Satisfied he took a few steps away from her and with one last look he started shifting back into his human.

Just then hurried footsteps were heard from the doorway as Ethan and Ryder came rushing in. They came to a stop in front of Alice unsure. With their previous encounter still fresh in their minds they had to be careful. They needed to get to Emma but they didn't know what kind of powers Alice had or what she would do next. She didn't seem to be herself last time, like she was in a trance.

Now however her wide eyes started at them confused as a deep blush started forming on her cheeks just as she turned away from them quickly. Only then did they realize that in their hurry to get to Emma they were still completely naked from their shift.

While Ethan walked into Jake's closet grabbing two basketball shorts Ryder continued to stare at Alice. He knew what he saw. She wasn't a light witch meaning witches who were still god's children like Ethan thought. She was an angel and from the looks of it Emma's protector since she now lay perfectly fine in bed , something only a protector could do.

Though still unconscious the bite from the creature was now completely healed, it seems she was just resting now. He was snapped out of his thoughts as Ethan threw some shorts at the side of his head. Quickly grabbing it he slipped it on and stepped to Alice. He wanted some answers.

Ryder raised his hand to Alice's shoulder to turn her around but before he could even touch her a loud growl sounded from near the doorway and the Beta now glared at Ryder with pitch black eyes. Sighing Ryder didn't care much for his interruption. He wanted answers so once again he reached for Alice but this time he was stopped by something else. The heart monitor flat lined.

Both Ryder and Alice turned in panic only to realize Emma was no longer on the bed but in Ethan's arms fast asleep. He had taken out all her wires resulting in the flat line. Ryder had just about enough of that machine for today. Stepping towards it he ripped all the plugs off destroying some along the way. The room now grew quiet.

"We need to leave now. Her seal has been broken a while now. For sure they would have her exact location. They might even be close by." Ethan spoke urgently to Ryder breaking the silence.

"Okay let's go but she comes with us." Ryder answered pointing to Alice just as another growl ripped from the Beta's throat. Though Alice was confused she wanted to go. The thought of separating from Emma was unbearable all the while the Beta growled under his breath.

Looking confused Ethan question ignoring the Beta. "Why?"

"I can't explain it now just trust me. She has to come with us." Ryder couldn't explain just then that Alice was Emma's guardian angel or that a protector and charge shouldn't be separated.

"Okay but he comes with us as well." Ethan spoke nodding to an unconscious naked Jake just as the Beta grabbed the sheets off the bed covering up the Alpha, solely because he didn't want Alice that close to another naked male.

"What? Why?" Ryder questioned confused and slightly angry. He never even met the human Jake but he already didn't like him. Why did he even need to come?

"I can't explain it now just trust me. He has to come with us." Ethan responded using Ryder's word. He couldn't explain that they were mates and couldn't be separated. Knowing Ryder's temper he would kill Jake where he lay if he knew it wouldn't hurt Emma. That talk will be saved for another time.

Ryder's jealousy was something they didn't have time for right now. It was no secret he was in love with Emma, well expect to the woman in question herself. She was as clueless as a newborn when it came to Ryder's feelings for her. She never had a sharp eye for romance that was directly involving her.

Ryder glared at Jake for a few seconds before scowling, "Fine but I'm not dragging his heavy ass out of here."

Ryder growled out approaching Ethan with his hands extended. Ethan sighed passing Emma to him before calling a few of the council warriors. Two of them quickly dragged him up in a standing position as another roughly dragged some basketball short up his legs. Completely awkward but necessary, they didn't need those sheets slipping off at any random moment. As the guard went to put a shirt over him Ethan stopped them.

"We don't have time, Eric get the chopper I want it in the back yard by the next ten minutes." Shifting Eric the fastest among them sprinted out the room and to the front of the island to retrieve the chopper.

"Adrian gather the men in the backyard, we are leaving in the next ten minutes." Ethan continued to order the council warriors.

As of this moment they were no longer the Execution or Stealth head, they were the right hand's personal guards.

Ethan grabbed what remained of his jeans off the floor to retrieve his cell phone. He needed to update HQ and also find out exactly how much time they had till the witches got here.

"What about the creature?" Ryder questioned as Ethan's finger tips hovered over the keypad.

"Shit! The council will have to deal with it we don't have time." He spoke before typing in the numbers and putting the phone on speaker so that Ryder could talk too. They answered on the first ring.

"Ethan we were just about to call." Demetrius voice came out rough on the other side. He must be worried about something.

"Too much has happened we don't have time to explain. As of this moment we are assuming our true duties as her personal guards." Ethan stated.

"I expected as much. We are on our way." Aries spoke.

"What? You are coming here?" Ryder questioned as both him and Ethan shared a puzzled look.

"Yes we can finally sense the witch council again." Roderick informed them.

"That's great, how far are their warriors? How much time do we have left? How much are they sending that the werewolf council needs to be here?" Ethan question one after the other anxiously. Both him and Ryder were now growing worried, why do they feel the need to be here? Exactly how many warriors were coming?

"They are closer than we thought... a lot closer." Aries spoke the last part softly as if he didn't want to say it at all.

"How close?" Ryder questioned impatiently.

"Barbados, they'll be there within the hour." Roderick spoke gravely.

At this both Ethan and Ryder's eyes went wide in shock. They needed to disappear and now. The chopper wouldn't be fast enough.

"Is that why you're all coming? To use your magic to help us escape without a trace?" Ethan questioned trying to connect the dots. Never before has the council felt threatened enough to step outside their castle. Their deaths would mean the downfall of the werewolf race and the end of humanity as the world knows it so for them to be leaving their safety behind something was very wrong. Demetrius finally spoke again since answering the phone sounding just as worried as the first time he answered.

"Yes we will teleport you all out of there but that's not the only reason we are coming. The witch council didn't send their best warriors. They sent there their right hand, Cain." At those words fear crept up Ethan and Ryder's spines.

Cain was the most powerful and ruthless dark witch they have ever met even more ruthless than the witch council themselves. He is a legit psychopath. They both almost died the last time their paths crossed, if Emma didn't distract him. Despite Cain's power Emma was still stronger however right now an encounter would mean their deaths. That's why the council was coming. They knew it would take all of them to hold off Cain as Emma was out of commission.

"We'll be there in fifteen minutes hold on." Aries spoke disconnecting the phone.

Just then the loud whirling sound of the chopper was heard. It came to a descend landing close to the hole created by the fall Ethan and Ryder had taken earlier. Alice stepped up to the broken wall looking out dangerously close to the edge but curious none the less. She has never seen such a thing before even cars were a rarity in the pack since the island was too small to need them. This though was different, new and exciting and it can fly, how does that work? What if they crash? Suddenly a strong arm wraps around her tiny waist pulling her back into a solid chest and forcing her a few steps backwards to a much safer distance from the open wall.

Trying to pull out of the foreign male's grip she couldn't move an inch as the arm tighten and a low growl escaped the lips of the male behind her. Trying to turn she could barely make out the side of the Beta male's face, Jarred. He was holding her that tightly. Suddenly his second hand joined the first covering her entire stomach with his solid forearms. He drags her back completely against his front not leaving space for even the air itself as his head drops down to the junction of her neck and shoulder breathing in her scent.

Giving up on moving his arms, tiny hands reached up to his head resting on her neck as her fingers buried themselves deep into his hair before yanking as hard as she could. Her soft grunts were heard as she tried her best to remove him. However he didn't notice her fight. He was too lost in the tranquillity of having his mate in his arms, he felt complete. At first he just wanted her away from the dangerous open wall but then he couldn't help himself, something was different from before. His need for her was stronger.

He could feel her tiny hands in his hair and he liked it. Suddenly one particularly hard yank caused him to release a low growl one filled of lust. It had him growing hard in his pants and the scent of his arousal filled the room, he started imaging her yanking his hair for a completely different reason. Upon hearing his sensual growl she quickly released his hair as if it burnt her. Afraid to touch him again she held herself completely still with both hands to her chest wide eyed. She didn't want to be attacked.

Suddenly his arms pulled away from her as a yelp of pain was heard from behind her. He released her so quickly she stumbled forward disorientated from his death grip to suddenly being free. She came dangerously close to the edge just as the sound of his body hitting the floor was heard. Just as she thought she was stable she turned staring into the ocean blue eyes of Ethan Hawk. Stepping forward she didn't notice the lose concrete at her feet before she was falling backwards and out the open wall. Ethan acted fast, grabbing her before she could fall through. Standing back up with her still in his arms they were now the same height as her feet dangled in the air near his knees and their faces dangerously close. Quickly Ethan walked to safety before depositing her on the ground none too gently. He was in shock of how close he allowed her to be. He had promised himself that after the death of his mate he wanted no other women near him. However having the little brunette that near to him didn't disgust him like the other women who have tried to get into his pants, he felt nothing from her. No disgust no attraction, an empty canvas free to create whatever they wished.

Calming down he turned to Ryder ignoring the bushing brunette. After taking a deep breath he asked what he was about to not mere seconds ago before being interrupted by the Beta forcing himself on the brunette.

"Don't you think it's weird?"

Ryder didn't response gazing down at Emma, his eyes never leaving her. He didn't hear Ethan, didn't even notice the little exchange that just occurred. His only focus was on the object of his many years of desire that was quite literally in his arms. It was the first time he was able to hold her like this. He was content, his wolf also purred inside. His wolfs reaction to her both confused and encouraged his feelings for her. Normally a wolf will only take interest in his mate but his seemed to like Emma. Bending down he planted a soft kiss on her forehead. He wanted to imprint this sweet memory forever in his mind. He knew once she woke up this will become impossible.

Suddenly a loud smack is heard and a loud growl escapes Ryder's lips and he was instinctively pulling Emma tighter into his chest in protection. Forest green blazed with a light tinge of gold. Ethan continued staring at Ryder with an unimpressed look while Ryder wanted to return his smack upside the head but didn't want to release Emma.

"What?" Ryder growled out finally paying attention to Ethan ripping his eyes away from his sleeping beauty. However instead of meeting Ethan's unimpressed stare like he expected, Ethan instead looked baffled staring deep into Ryder's eyes, it was a first for Ryder seeing Ethan look so confused he wondered what brought it on. Ethan always knew Ryder was in love with Emma but it would seem Ryder's wolf also had an interest in her. Then as Ryder blinked finally calm his eyes returned to pure green causing Ethan to shake his head as if brushing aside his perplexed thoughts for another time of discussion. Clearing his throat Ethan shook the last of those thoughts off before speaking.

"Don't you think it's weird? Cain is in Barbados it should take him twnety minutes tops to get here. Why would HQ think Cain will need almost an whole hour?" Ethan voiced observing Ryder's reaction. He has been too absorbed in Emma to notice anything else.

"You're right, something is off." Ryder confirmed Ethan's suspicions.

"Damn! Demetrius isn't telling us something." Ryder growled out.

"Maybe he doesn't want us panicking about it but it does hurt my pride." Ethan stated.

"Yeah, we are prepared to protect her with our life, he at least owe us the whole truth." Ryder spoke.

"There is only one thing I could think of..." Ethan trailed off.

"What?" Ryder questioned curious, if anyone could figure it out, it would be Ethan.

"Cain can reach here in twenty minutes using his dark magic right?" Ethan questioned rhetorically to Ryder.

"Yes Sherlock, we have established that already." Ryder growled out slightly irritated. Was Ethan playing with him right now?

"But a normal dark witch can't, they don't have the power Cain has and therefore would take longer to get here. Cain isn't coming alone. I think he is bringing an army, that's why Demetrius is so worried."

"An army of dark witches, how can we defeat that?" Ryder question worried.

"No I think it is something else. We would have been able to feel their approach by now but there is nothing. Water is the only thing that can block super natural presence especially large amounts..." Ethan spoke trailing off as a light goes off in his brain and he connects the last puzzle piece.

"The creature it can travel through water... then it was not born but created." Ethan continued whispering so soft Ryder almost didn't hear him.

"What? That doesn't make sense and what do those nasty things have to do with the witches?" Ryder questioned confused.

"Because it is them, it has been them all along. They created the creatures and Cain is bringing an army of them to wipe us out and take back Emma. Does it make sense to you that the entire werewolf council felt the need to leave when in the two hundred years of their ruling they have only left their castle once before to rescue Emma?" Ethan threw at Ryder who still struggled to believe Ethan's logic.

"Well they maybe just know that without Emma we can't beat Cain, that's all you're over thinking again." Ryder sighed.

"Why else will the venom turn her into an human? It must have been made for her." Ethan concluded.

"Are you even listening to yourself? That is too impossible, how can they even begin to make something like the venom?" Ryder pleaded.

"With two hundred years, great amounts of dark magic and her every sample, you do remember that they had her as a lab experiment for many years?" Ethan fired back.

"You know what, I'm not doing this. Let's go." Ryder sighed walking to the door.

"Go where?" Ethan followed.

"The creature is still in the vault, let's go get some answers. We have a little time remaining till the council arrives. Might as well get a head start in the interrogation and stop your babbling." Ryder concluded.

"Fine we'll see." Ethan spoke a little offended almost forgetting the confused brunette in the room.

She felt safer near them and she didn't want to leave Emma side but she didn't want to be near that creature either.

Before Ryder could step outside the room Matthew came running in.

"There's a problem. The creature escaped killing two guards. We thought she might have returned to the cliff where we first spotted her but she didn't. Instead she was on the north east side of the island where she entered the ocean and continued heading in that same direction." Matthew reported.

"Great how the hell are we supposed to get answers now?" Ryder grumbled irritated.

"Actually we just got our answer." Ethan spoke gravelly.

Three pairs of confused eyes turned to him, Ryder, Alice and Mathew.

"Northeast, there is only one thing in that direction... Barbados." Ethan confirmed as three sets of jaws fell open and eyes grew wide in horror.
