Cliffside

The scent of blood filled the air. Wolves were dropping faster than the walkers were falling but most importantly Cain just stood there amiss to everything with a pleased smile like a proud parent. The weird thing though the walkers weren't killing the wolves but simply disarming them. The witch council must have given Cain a clear warning not to repeat his massacre Demetrius thought, but why would the witches want them alive?

Though Cain stood enjoying the scene before him, he kept an eye on the hybrid. She lay motionless on the ground a mere few feet away from the cliff. He didn't want to get directly involved yet. His pets deserved some fun even more so since they were behaving well, there were no deaths so far only unconscious wolves.

However as if contradicting his thoughts, one of the younger walkers grabbed a wolf from behind but instead of knocking him out, the walker gave in. Sinking his fangs deep into the poor wolves' neck he caused a chain reaction. Almost instantly the others followed but before they could bite down Cain roared loudly.

"Stop!" Like chains his command wrapped around them. The walkers froze mid act, eyes wide.

Nonetheless Cain realized too late that he had made a grave mistake. Many of the wolves used this opportunity to run their swords through the walkers' hearts. Quickly Cain released his command but it was too late. Five walkers now lay dead joining the already fallen. He now had three more here and about forty remaining walkers on the beach but they were a lot weaker than the nine that lay dead, being new-borns. It wouldn't be completely easy but his new-borns against wolves trained to kill. He can only hope for the best. His third and the few here were the only strong ones remaining. If it comes down to it Cain will need to use his true powers, something the witch council had threaten him to never reveal to the wolves but Cain didn't care. He was this close to the hybrid, he wasn't about to lose her.

Cain wasn't angry at how many walkers he was losing. He knew this was going to happen especially after he trained his pets on how to fight wolves without killing them. He didn't just come for the hybrid but to collect all the council wolves here. If such high level wolves undergo the change almost all would survive. He decided to use his current army in order to create an even stronger one. The council wolves would be his most powerful creations yet an unstoppable army and by making the leaders of the wolves his pets enslaving the entire werewolf race.

Thinking it was about time Cain unleashed his own sword joining the battle as he used his dark magic to call the rest of his walkers here. Hopefully his third wouldn't kill the wolves still on the beach. Cutting down numerous wolves Cain quickly worked his way across the clearing evening out the numbers while moving steadily towards the wolf that lay bitten. He was still alive and gasping for breath with a pool of blood forming under him.

Black ink and blood stained Demetrius' clothes, hands and face, Roderick was no different. Though they were in the mist of battle they always kept an eye on Cain so when he decided to join the fight they reacted quickly. At first Demetrius thought Cain was coming towards them but then suddenly he turned to the left as the bitten wolf lay a few feet away. As realization dawn both Demetrius and Roderick rushed forward to save the fallen wolf. If the creature was breaking the wolves' necks after biting them it means Cain intended to kill this wolf before the venom could. Now within reach Cain brought his sword down hard and straight through the poor wolf's heart killing him instantly just as Demetrius and Roderick arrived seconds too late.

Demetrius rushed forward with Roderick close behind, they used the split second Cain took to retrieve his sword from the dead wolves' body to their advantage. Demetrius acted first aiming to stab through Cain's heart from the back while Roderick attacked from the front going for his throat. However, what happened next shocked both of them.

Cain didn't even move. He stood calmly letting the sword pierce his heart as his throat was slit right after. His blood spurted out. Dark red almost black, Cain's blood looked poisoned the blood of a dark witch. As Cain's blood splattered along Demetrius and Roderick's face they glanced at each other uneasy. What was happening? Cain should be dead. Demetrius quickly retrieved his sword and backed away a little with Roderick revaluating their attacks.

Right before their eyes the hole Demetrius sword left in Cain's back started closing up and healing. Turning around to give them his full attention, Cain smirked at their horrified expressions. Both their jaws drop as right before their eyes Cain's throat started healing as well and quite quickly at that. In a matter of seconds his throat was back to its smooth self and his chest followed closely. That was impossible. Witches had the same physical body as humans no matter whether they were light or dark witches. That kind of healing abilities was something a werewolf of high level would have, like Royal Ivan or Demetrius. Pure force wouldn't do the trick. They needed to step up their game.

Cain continued to smile darkly. Taking a direct hit was worth seeing that look on their faces. At least now they had a better idea of what they were really up against.

Demetrius tightened his grip on his sword and Roderick followed suit. Their goal wasn't to kill him anymore. They now knew there was no hope for that. They had to buy Aries time even if it meant their deaths. Emma's life will ensure humanity. Demetrius just prayed that Ryder was right, if so the guardian angel will stop Cain.

Almost as if god himself was answering Demetrius prays a heavy magical aurora surrounded them. The feeling of peacefulness and serenity was like their salvation. The spell was working, her blood was legit and this peaceful feeling is one only an angel can create, it must be projecting through her blood to everything around them. Even Cain froze before pivoting on his feet in search of the source. He didn't realize Aries was casting a spell until now as his eyes locked on Aries who was literally at the cliff's edge as he poured Alice's blood into the ocean. His had finished casting the spell, they just needed to wait a few more minutes for the portal to completely open.

Dropping the chalice Aries grabbed a sword off the ground joining the battle. Using the distraction Alice's blood caused Aries rushed forward running his blade clean through the nearest walker's heart. It dropped dead causing everyone to snap out of their trance and once again the sound of battle continued. Cain didn't know what spell Aries used but he had a hunch. Once open the portal will stay open for about thirty seconds before closing. He just needed to grab the Hybrid before that. Time for fun and games were over Cain thought as he brought forward his dark magic. He could feel the rest of his pets approaching. They were almost here, just a few more seconds.

Cain chanted softly and dark magic wrapped around his sword. Demetrius and Roderick chanted under their breaths as well casting a purity spell that eats away at dark magic. Their swords were also now engulfed in a fire that would burn away dark magic.

Demetrius slashed forward and Cain dodged, Roderick followed right after and Cain dodged again but what he didn't expect was that they were just distracting him. Almost instantly another flaming sword entered his chest just as Cain released a loud painful scream and Aries stepped from behind him. His chest now burned form the direct contact it made with the fire as dark magic rushed to once again cover the exposed body part. The sizzling of his burnt skin was visible as trails of smoke rose from where he was stabbed. It started healing but not as fast as before, red black blood now stained Cain's chest as he wore a painful expression. It'll slow him down but they knew better, Cain always had something up his sleeve.

Suddenly the sound of hissing and shuffling footsteps filled the air. As the remaining wolves turned to the clearing they caught sight of the rest of walkers. Cain smirk using the council's distraction to swing at Roderick but before his blade could get to Roderick, Demetrius quickly slashed at Cain's back. Though their efforts were in vain, the rest of walkers were here and the few remaining wolves were dropping fast. Severely outnumbered it was now down to only the three council members except for Ethan and Ryder who stood in front of Emma, her last line of defence. Demetrius stood at the centre with a single sword as Roderick flanked his right with double swords and Aries his left with a single sword. Cain waved a hand at his pets signalling that he wanted to do this alone.

Walking forward he picked up two swords one in each hand twirling them effortlessly as he stepped towards them with an excited grin. Cain loved a challenge, he lived to fight and now that he had a chance to fight all three council members together like this he didn't want his pets taking any of the fun from him. As he continued twirling the double blades leisurely he chanted under his breath and once again dark magic wrapped around both swords however unlike before the darkness also wrapped around his physical body, both him and his weapons were now engulfed in a black smoke.

Magic can be used to strengthen weapons but for magic to be manipulated the way Cain was using it was unheard of. The council had never seen a dark witch that can physically join with their magic like Cain can. It would seem his dark magic was a part of him but for that to happen his soul itself must be tainted. However Cain would have had to be dealing with demons which was impossible. There's no way for him to contact one. No one knows where the gates of hell were.

Behind them Ethan and Ryder clenched their jaws in nervousness the spell was almost complete now but they were worried for their council leaders. If they don't survive Emma would become the next leader of the werewolves and she would have to do it alone. There mightn't even be a council after this.

As Cain started running forward the other three held their ground waiting for his attack. As swords clashed the purity fire and dark smoke fought each other, each trying to destroy the other. Demetrius blocked his left while Aries blocked his right and Roderick quickly crossed his swords in between Cain's neck like a pair of scissors intending to cut his head off. If slitting his throat and piercing his heart didn't work they would have to try something else. Forcing his double blades against Cain only succeeded in creating a v line of burnt flesh like a chain around his neck. Since Cain now merged with his dark magic the swords would not penetrate him as easily despite the purity fire. None the less Roderick forced his swords harder against Cain's throat and Cain held his stare with an arrogant smirk. Suddenly there was a shattering sound and before their eyes both of Roderick's sword broke in half were they had made contact with Cain's neck. As the halves fell to the ground the thin burnt v line quickly healed around Cain's throat and his smirk grew even brighter in a mocking manner while the three council leaders froze in shock.

Quickly before they could react Cain deflected Demetrius and Aries swords before running his through them. Just as quickly he ran them both through Roderick. Cain could see the darkness within his blade seep into their open wounds entering their bodies. Like a poison the darkness weaken the council leaders, it slowed down their healing abilities to an almost human level. Their own magic will fight the darkness but the real question is will their magic cleanse the darkness before they can bleed to death, mostly likely not.

Cain stood tall and proud that he had reduced the leaders of the werewolves, the high and mighty council members to this pathetic mess. Within the hour they would bleed out and die but Cain didn't want that so he planned that once he had the hybrid in his hands he would reduce the darkness in their bloodstream. They will remain in a weaken state but they will start healing again.

Cain turned moving towards the Hybrid, now that his biggest threat was gone there was nothing stopping him from taking her. Stepping over their bodies Cain strode forward excited completely disregarding Ryder and Ethan now gripping sliver swords themselves. Cain didn't deem them a threat as he didn't even look at them. His eyes remained on an unconscious Emma.

Once again he twirled both swords in his hands only a few feet away still surrounded by his darkness. Quickly and effortless he acted. He simultaneously threw both sliver swords with perfect aim straight to both Ryder and Ethan's hearts at an impossible blinding speed. There was no way they could react fast enough to block it, in a matter of a split second they would be dead. At least that's what Cain thought would happen.

As soon as both swords left his hands a blinding light exploded throughout the clearing and a ringing sound was in the air. In the next spilt second there was a flutter of wings. Cain was now staring into the Emma blue eyes of an angel as her wings stretched out on both sides of her blocking all four, Emma, Jake, Ethan and Ryder as her petite form stood tall not even taking a defence stance. Her wings were so massive it blocked Cain's view of both Ethan and Ryder who now stood on either side of her. Just as quickly his double swords that were engulfed in dark magic each hit her wings instead of their original targets and instantly they shattered into a million pieces falling to the ground without even an trace of the dark magic they had only seconds before. Surely the biggest strength an angel had against darkness, purity.

Cain's eyes went wide as he realized the situation he was in. Angel's had stopped all communication with earth so he didn't even expect something like this. He even prepared in case the mermaids tried to save the hybrid but angels, there was nothing he could do. The pureness reflected in an angel's eyes had the power to bewitch darkness, causing them to fall in a trance much like what was happening with Cain. He was too lost in her eyes to even notice her raising her hands, only too late did it occur to him what really happened.

A bright blue electric current shot out from both her hands hitting Cain squarely on his chest sending him flying backwards airborne ploughing through forest trees to finally land in a crater about a mile away. With his body burnt beyond recognition small sparks of the blue electricity continue to run through him gradually dying down. It would appear that the right hand of the witch council now lay dead or at least so it would seem.

The angel dropped her hands back to her sides as her wings shifted shrinking smaller and smaller while her glowing lessen and lessen. As the angel shifted back to her human form there still remained an blue glow in the air. Her attack was aimed at Cain but it affected everything in the clearing. All the walkers now lay dead and small grunts and groans were heard from the council leaders as the darkness in their bloodstream was now purified and they started healing at their normal speed.

Alice now stood drifting on her feet as Ethan hurried forward wrapping his strong arm around her tiny waist. She clutched onto his shirt as she started seeing stars feeling like she would pass out any second. Suddenly a burst of magic occurred behind them, the portal was open and ready. Demetrius was up first rushing towards them still healing as the other two followed.

"Go now hurry, remember everything we said. Ambrose will help protect you all. Take care of her and be safe."

Demetrius spoke with Roderick and Aries now behind him. Both Ryder and Ethan nod before Ryder scooped Emma up bridal style and Ethan quickly threw Jake over his shoulder. He then once again wrapped his supporting arm around Alice's waist even tighter than before while in turn she wrapped both her arms around his neck. They all turned stepping to the edge looking down at the black portal that was now open over the ocean water before jumping in.

....
