Cain and the underworld demons
"They're here." Cain spoke as the twenty demons stood at attention. A heavy darkness crackled as Alaric and his undead army approached. The density of darkness was over whelming.
"No one moves unless our queen is in danger." Cain commanded as the lead warrior, Frost continued.
"Our queen must not know of us. We are here as a last resort to ensure her safety. We are not to change the balance by involving ourselves in these earthly matters."
"Yes Sir." Rang out as everyone took positions waiting. As god banned Lucifer from earth, he had to be careful. While he was willing to risk divine punishment, it would be best if his queen could handle Alaric herself so that Lucifer would not have to get involved with the heavens. However, she was still his queen and he was not leaving her defenceless.
Cain's magic cloaked them all from Alaric. The demons form a line around the barrier as Cain himself stood a mere ten feet away from Alaric. Yet Alaric had no idea.
Cain looked on unmoving, he knew what Alaric was planning. In a few minutes the light witch will be no more but he could not help, not unless Emma was in danger.

Acton Island: The Caves
As Emma stood, her wings rustled and fell behind her gracefully. Everyone was mesmerised. Emma felt more powerful than she had ever felt in her whole two hundred years. It sizzled through her whole being. An energy so strong she felt invincible. Focusing tentatively, she could feel her wings bending to her will. She had the sudden urge to run forward and jump from the cliff side of the caves just to see how high they can take her.
"It's beautiful." Alice commented looking between her own and Emma's single white wing. Though they were both similar, Emma's was a lot larger and shone a brilliant white. However, her black wing was making Alice uncomfortable. Shivers went down her spine from just looking at it and a cold chill settled deep within her bones. Though she trusted Emma this new development made her uncomfortable, there was something sinister about that single black wing.
"Heaven's light and Hell's darkness, together in one being." Ambrose whispered. Looking from the single pure white wing to her black ivory one as Alice's worries reflected in his eyes. While her white wing created a feeling of serenity within him. The black wing invoked fear and something unspeakable.
"That is why she was created. She can enter the realms of both heaven and hell. Even the depths of Tartarus, were the original sins are held." Dmitri spoke mentioning Lucifer's four horsemen, the first sins.
Suddenly Emma grew alert, sensing something was wrong. Before she could speak, Ambrose coughed loudly spurting up blood as he fell to his knees retrenching. Everyone grew still as Deacon rushed to him speaking urgently.
"It's the barrier, someone is trying to break it." Deacon took Ambrose into his arms as Alice started to try healing him.
Emma rushed to Ambrose's side, kneeling down she took hold of his hand. Focusing she started to slowly pour some of her power into him in order to strengthen his life force and re-enforce the shield. As seconds go by it was working. His breathing evened out as the intruders stopped attacking the shield.
Suddenly Ambrose jerked forward releasing a piercing scream as his eyes glowed a blinding white. He continued screaming as blood flowed down the corners of his eyes, through his nose, mouth and ears. The light started spreading outward slowly covering his face and continued to the rest of his body.
"You need to withdraw your power, fast. You are a god now. A mortal born being cannot contain your power." Dimitri rushed out.
"If I take it back he could die." Emma spoke urgently already trying to ease Ambrose's pain by sending him waves of comfort.
"He will die if you don't, no matter how much you heal him." Dimitri finished.
Tears prickled Emma's eyes as she gazed at Ambrose. She will withdraw her power but she will need to find the source and eliminate it before they could try anything again because Ambrose's body was too weak. He could not take another hit.
Focusing once again, she took back her power and instantly he started shaking and gasping for breath. Turning she ran out of there at the speed of light however before she could take that last step and leap over the ledge, she felt it.
Clutching her chest, she gasped falling to her knees inches from the edge barely holding herself from falling off the cliff.
The bond between them was breaking, before completely disconnecting. She could not feel him anymore.
Ambrose was no more...
Cold, she was cold. The wind went silent as her very breath froze over. Yet she held perfectly still. Unable to process the truth. Someone she held close was now gone, one of the few genuine souls in her long painful existence. Slowly standing she turned walking back to him. Her tunnel vision made her oblivious to anything but Ambrose. Unaware, a light snow started falling behind her as the air in front her came out in white puffs.
Alice struggled to supress a shiver as the temperature plummeted in a matter of seconds. She looked up at Emma walking towards them with a regal yet numb expression. There was something there, just under the surface. A power just barely being withheld. Alice's tears froze on her face, as she could no longer hold in her shaking. Looking at Emma now, she could see it. In fact it was always there she just never noticed. Emma's mere presence screamed of more than just power, it was not of this earth. A god among mere men. With each step closer, the winds picked up as snow trailed behind her a blizzard started outside the cave. All Alice could think was to submit, the closer Emma came the harder it was too just simply breathe. Just as her knees weakened, Deacon went down on his before bowing his head and so both Alice and Dmitri followed.
Reaching Ambrose Emma herself kneeled in front of him. Gently taking his hand her vision blurred. Blood red clouded her sight as her fingers meet his hand that was already growing cold. She knew he was already at his end days. Yes, he had lived a full life. She was prepared for a peaceful death. Not for this. To be murdered by that monster. Closing her eyes, she let it take over. Since she woke up with both wings, she had felt the darkness within grow, change, and evolve. It was different now, more sinister but more so no longer a choice but a part of her very being and as her bond with Ambrose broke, something snapped within her. It damned blood. Payment for what was lost.
Her eyes bleed blood red as a darkness from deep within arise to the surface. Black inky tendrils slowly emerged from her shadow as a black mist started growing around her. Then at last, her one single pure white wing turned charcoal grey reflecting the imbalance within her.
Dmitri fought hard trying to reach her but it was too impossible. The blizzard was surrounding her and it whipped at them unforgivingly as her dark presence pushed them flat on the floor. He could not even use his lycan without her command.
In the blink of an eye, she turned and ran out the caves jumping off the cliff taking flight. Like breathing, she let her powerful wings lead her to the barrier's edge as the blizzard violently lashed at her. Closing her eyes, she floated in the air hundreds of feet above the ground as she let the darkness lead her to the breach.
Her new powers were blocking her awareness. The now greater darkness inside her blind sighted her from sensing the danger. Just some miles off the shore underwater.
Alaric.
Flying forward at an impossible speed, she effortlessly pasted through the barely intact barrier diving down into the dark blue icy ocean waters miles underneath. Not being in full control of her new powers had her slamming into the ocean's floor, violently shaking the ground. Though it did her no harm, the same could not be said for the island. With the darkness in control, her powers went uncheck and so her landing caused a huge crater. However, more so, the ocean itself rocked as the impact and displacement of water started the formation of a tsunami.
As she stood, she heard it. The barrier that stood a few feet behind her was cracking. It grew from the floor spreading out quickly. Before she could move, it shattered. The barrier was destroyed and war had begun.
The walkers started swarming forward. They ran pass her leaving a wide gap as they rushed for the island. It was almost as if they could sense the greater darkness within her that warned them of death. In the distance though, Emma could already hear roars as the Vulcan dragons arrived at the shore to defend their island.
Despite all this, Emma's vision only held Alaric. She needed blood, his blood.
Rising out of the crater, she floated effortlessly using her gifts of controlling nature to move through the ocean as the darkness stuck to her like a second skin, wrapping around her, caressing her almost as if the darkness itself was alive.
Coming a few feet away from Alaric, she was clam, perfectly still as the darkness within controlled her body, Emma observed. It had found its prey, the cause of her lost. Her head eerily tilted as her eyes mixed from blood red to black, she observed Alaric, taking in everything.
All of the other four witch council members lay dead behind him. It would seem he not just absorbed their powers but ate their very souls. Adding to him and evolving him into something that could threaten the very balance of this earth. No wonder she did not sense him. Such power would give him god like abilities. Something mortal borns should never hold, for they themselves, do not know the true extent or even how to properly control such power.
Though Alaric felt indestructible at that moment, Emma's arrival had him slightly nervous. More so she seemed different changed and as she emerged floating towards him, he began to understand. Only then did Alaric take full notice of her. Too absorbed in the moment of his success of breaking the wall and killing the light witch. Eyebrows furrowed, as he grew confused. Since when did she have wings? Since when did her mere presence felt this powerful, this absolute? He thought as warning bells rang in his head. Feeling the basic instinct to submit to this greater being, however with the amount of power flowing within him, he was able to resist.
As their eyes locked his pores raised, she did not show much expression but her gaze made him feel like hunted prey. Her quiet observation had him second-guessing before pushing it all behind him and facing her head on. Something was different but he came too far to stop now. He had to finish this.
. . . .
In the distance, Deacon roared transforming into his dragon as Alice broke down in tears. Dmitri looked remorseful before speaking loudly but calmly, someone needed to take charge since Emma went to find the danger and Deacon was morning.
"We are under attack, gather everyone." Dmitri commanded using his power to project the message to all the dragon shifters on the island. Deacon rushed out in rage as Alice followed him taking flight. Dimitri created a barrier around Ambrose before leaving too himself following Emma's presence through the mate bond.
In all the chaos, no one noticed that at the very back of the caves where no light shone there was crack in space from which a black sinister mist was creeping out and slowly approaching the light witch's dead body.
