beside her. The car window lowered, exposing a person who looked like a thug. He asked her

defiantly, “Would you like to repeat yourself?” Melanie bit her lower lip softly, and she bowed

deeply at the man in the car. “I'm sorry. I was thrown out here last night, and my phone's battery is

out. I've walked so long that I'm exhausted and famished. I've tried waving down cars for the whole

day, but they were all like you, and they just wouldn't stop for me. I lost my cool in that instant, and
