Alone. I am now alone.
Saori and Lucine have left the house. How many days has it been?
Iâve been feeling pretty down. Saori proposed to stay. I would have loved that. But we canât do that for the sake of her career.
Iâm getting my reward after this, though. No question.
Good news is the pain hasn't returned yet. Iâm pretty bored right now though. Finished all the companyâs tasks.
Besides scouting for new talent. But. How do I even start? I canât hold auditions at the moment. Who would even enter?
It hits me right now that I donât have many friends. Why did this happen? Wasnât I the popular kid in school?
I have a backup plan, though. I whip out my phone and call my brother Dewey.

âHey Dewey, want to hang out?â
âWell. Well. Well. Look who it is!â
âSo, you want to hang out?â
âWhy? Donât you have your wife and sister to take care of you?â
âThey left for their jobsâ¦â
âHaha! Now alone! Who do you crawl back to? Me!â
I hate his smug sounding voice. Heâs right though.
âSorry bro, Iâm going on a mixer with my pals,â says Dewey.
âCan I join?â
âNo way in hell! Sit around at home alone, you punk!â
âWhy not?â
âBro. Do you even know the reason Iâm your only close male friend?â
I want to say heâs not my only male friend. Heâs on the money, though. Hit me right where it hurts.
âCome on Dewey. Help me out here a little. Iâll even pay for everything.â
âMoneyâs not a problem. I donât need your stinking money.â
âAm I not the reason youâre rich, though?â
I handle all his investments. I gave him all my expertise. Even his business started with me as the principal investor.
âDonât guilt trip me into this! Iâm also not rich.â
âThatâs cause you keep wasting them on terrible investments.â
âI ainât changing my mind, bro! Iâm still not inviting you over!â
âHey Dewey, who you talking to?â says a voice on the phone.
âItâs just my brother. Donât mind him.â
âInvite him over then.â

âYeah, weâre lacking men, anyway. Help your brother out.â
âHeâs not gonna steal all the women. Help your brother out.â
âYou guys are on his side? Are you stupid? This guyâs already married anyway,â says Dewey.
âI mean Iâm married.â
âI have many girlfriends.â
âMy wife asked me to go.â
âI forgot Iâm hanging out with a bunch of degenerates!â
âHey Dewey, those guys sound interesting. So can I hang out with you guys?â
I want to see what happens. Iâm not interested in the mixer.
âWhy are you calling us degenerates?â
âI think not telling your wife youâre going to mixer is pretty degenerate.â
âYeah, bro. Thatâs pretty sick. I mean, my wife asked me to go, but youâre cheating.â
I send Saori a message. âHey can I go to a mixer with Dewey and a bunch of guys?â She replies. âSend me pictures.â Thatâs quick.
âYeah, not gonna lie. Thatâs pretty bad,â says Dewey.
âTo hell with you guys! How about you, huh? Did you tell your girlfriends?â
âI ainât married. They don't need to know. I still did, though.â
âFace it man! You are the biggest degenerate here.â
âYour brother Dewey! Did he tell his wife?â
âThis guy has wives. Heâll fit in with all of you just fine,â says Dewey.
âDewey, tell them I got permission.â
âI hate you! He did, so youâre still the biggest degenerate here,â says Dewey.
âAnyway, letâs drop this topic! Let him come.â
Dewey sends me directions. I see all four of them. Iâm wearing a plain T-shirt along with a gigantic pair of glasses. This is exciting. I get to see Deweyâs flirting attempts. To be honest, I donât think any girls Dewey can invite are in my strike zone. The guys seem friendly enough, though.
I will assist him to the best of my abilities!
âYouâre pretty tall, huh? Anyway, letâs go!â says Takuto. The guy trying to cheat on his wife.
âWelcome! Welcome!â says Corwin. I found out he has a dozen girlfriends.
âAlright, letâs do this!â says Abel. The guy instructed by his wife to come.
âLetâs go!â says Dewey. The guy whoâs going to fail.
âWeâre walking away, us winners!â I say. The guy⦠letâs not diss myself.
âRemember our signal, bros? Utensils point to the target.â
We huddle together.
âThree! Two! One! Rock!â says all of us. We enter the restaurant and sitting I saw a long table with six women sitting on one side. I can only see the backs of their heads.
It seems they were the girls of this mixer. Once we sat down, I realized this is no ordinary mixer. Dewey must be desperate. A tear drops from my eyes.
Dewey, youâre down bad, huh? Iâm sorry. As your brother, I will help you more.
The ladies are all very nice and, shall we say⦠âexperiencedâ. Yes, I call them the âCougarâs Anonymousâ.
Dewey grabs the chopsticks on the table and sets them on his plate. They are pointing towards the woman in front of him. Dewey, thatâs too fast! We havenât said a single word yet!
I hear more sounds of chopsticks being placed down.
The guys set their chopsticks down! Someone even has two chopsticks pointing to different ladies. You guys are moving way too fast!
âSo dear. Whatâs your name?â says the lady who Dewey pointed his chopsticks at.
âIâm named Atlas maâam.â
âYou sound just like my son, so polite.â
I bow my head a bit at that. This is my shy polite boy act. A tried and tested way Iâve used to divert any girlâs interest!
I hear chopsticks being placed down. Dewey redirected his chopsticks to the lady in front of me. Youâre giving up way too fast, bro!
âYouâre so similar to my cute son when he was young!â says the lady.
âUh⦠Uhâ¦â I say. My tactic seems to backfire.
âYou are so cute, my dear,â says another lady.
âReally reminds me of my precious child asking mommy for help!â
I pick up the sounds of chopsticks again. A lot of them.
I notice that all the ladiesâ chopsticks now point at me.
What? Do they have the same signs?
I remind you of your children?
How is that a good point?
