After the scare at the hospital, Khanyiswa and Sandile have a tense conversation. Khanyiswa's jealousy simmers, but she manages to keep her tone neutral as they discuss Mmabatho's safety.
"Mhlawumbi kufuneka ahlale nathi," Sandile suggests, his voice calm but firm. "It'll be easier to ensure she's safe." (Maybe she should move in with us)
Khanyiswa pauses, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you sure this is necessary?"
"Ukhulelwe umntwana wethu, Sithandwa Sam. It's the right thing to do," Sandile replies. Khanyiswa reluctantly agrees, deciding that keeping Mmabatho close is better than Sandile constantly running to her aid. (She's pregnant with our child, My love)
When Sandile proposes the idea to Mmabatho, she hesitates at first, unsure about living with them. But after thinking about the attack and the baby's safety, she agrees. "Okay, but just until things settle," she says. Sandile's relief is evident, and he assures her they'll make her feel at home.
The day Mmabatho gets discharged, Onalenna helps her pack up her essentials. The mood is light at first, with Ona cracking jokes to ease Mmabatho's nerves. But as they open the apartment door, they both freezeâKabello is sitting on the couch, eyes dark and brooding.
Ona's protective instincts kick in immediately. "O Dora eng fa ? Get out!" she yells, her voice sharp with anger. ( what are you doing here?)
Kabello barely flinches. His gaze shifts to Mmabatho, who signals Ona to step back. "Re fe motsotso," she whispers. Ona looks unsure but steps outside, leaving the door ajar.
Kabello stands up, eyes locking with Mmabatho's. "You think you can just throw me away like I'm nothing?" he sneers.
Before she can react, he takes a step toward her, hand raised. But this time, Mmabatho is ready. She ducks, narrowly avoiding his swing. "Enough!" she shouts, a newfound strength in her voice. "Tsaya masepa a gago o tsamaye. We're done." (Take your shit and leave)
Mmabatho grabs a bag filled with his clothes and throws it out the door. Kabello's face turns red with rage, but he realizes he's lost his power over her. With a final glare, he storms out, the sound of his footsteps echoing down the hallway.
Ona rushes back in, eyes wide. "You okay?" she asks, her voice trembling slightly.
Mmabatho nods, a weight lifting off her chest. "Yeah. I am now."
With Kabello gone and her bags packed, Mmabatho takes one last look around the apartment. It no longer feels like homeâit's just a place full of memories she's ready to leave behind. Ona squeezes her hand reassuringly as they step out, closing the door on that chapter of her life.
