Khanyiswa leans back into her chair, eyes sharp with curiosity. "So, Andile, Nadibana phi wena noMmabatho, exactly?" Her voice carries a hint of playful suspicion. (Where did you and Mmabatho meet)
Andile chuckles lightly, glancing at Mmabatho before answering. "We met at a restaurant. She was out nomgani wakhe and I approached her, and we just... started talking." He shrugs as if it was the most natural thing in the world. (She was out with a friend)
"Oh, I see," Khanyiswa says, raising an eyebrow while forcing a polite smile. Sandile doesn't say much, just takes it all in with a neutral expression.
As the day unfolds, they all share a relaxed lunch in the backyard. The atmosphere is light, filled with the gentle clinking of cutlery and casual conversation. Andile turns to Mmabatho as the others are caught in their own chat. "So, how's everything really going with you?" he asks, genuine concern in his eyes.
She smiles softly, appreciating the sincerity. "It's... good, actually. Adjusting, but good," she admits.
"That's good ", Andile says with a grin that makes Mmabatho's heart skip a beat. They continue talking, sharing stories and laughter until the sun starts dipping behind the horizon.
When it's time to leave, Andile offers, "Hey, ake ngikuhambide ekhaya. It's better than an Uber." (Let me take you home)
Mmabatho hesitates but agrees, "Yeah, sure. That would be nice."
The drive is quiet at first, but comfortable. They exchange stories, jokes, and by the time they pull up in front of her apartment building, the sun has fully set, casting a warm orange glow inside the car. Andile parks and turns to Mmabatho, looking into her eyes.
"You know, I'm glad we ran into each other today," he says, voice low and sincere.
"Me too," she replies, barely a whisper. The air between them crackles with tension, and before she can overthink it, Andile leans in, brushing his lips against hers. It's soft at first, testing the waters, but when Mmabatho responds, the kiss deepens, leaving them both breathless.
They pull back, eyes meeting as a mix of emotions swirls between them. "Goodnight, Mmabatho," Andile says with a soft smile.
"Goodnight, Andile," she whispers, stepping out of the car with her heart racing.
