Chapter 317

“Sawyer Phillips kidnapped you? So you were able to escape that time because of Sawyer too?" Master Harris was furious when he learned that he had been set up by Leah and how Sophia, Charles, and Sawyer had joint forces to deceive him.

Sophia shook her head immediately after hearing what he said and covered for Sawyer by saying incoherently, "No, um, Mr. Phillips kidnapped me but later released me after hearing that I was pregnant... This isn’t really a kidnapping. Please don't blame him, he..."

"Shut up! That’s enough!" Master Harris rapped his cane on the ground without warning.

Sophia's heart skipped a beat when the cane and the ground collided with each other and let out a booming sound. Her complexion paled and she stopped talking.

"Miscarriage usually happens in the first three months of pregnancy. Something bad will happen to Sophia if you continue to frighten her like that, Master Harris." Aunt Jacinda sighed when she noticed that Sophia was in low spirits.

Master Harris might be furious, but he did not lose his temper at Sophia anymore after taking into account the child that was in Sophia's womb. "Go back and raise the child carefully. If something happens to the child, then you don’t need to live anymore either! Get lost!"

"Oh, oh," Sophia responded in a panic then dragged Charles by the sleeve and went out.

Charles put his arms around her waist, stopped her, then looked at Master Harris, and said, "Grandpa, Leah first asked Sophia to lie to you by saying that she’s pregnant, then informed you about Sophia's fake pregnancy afterward. She’s clearly trying to use you to get rid of Sophia."

Master Harris was pretty much convinced by Sophia’s words by now, though after hearing what Charles said, he asked, “How many schemes can a little brat like her have up her sleeves?"

"Have you forgotten that you were still complimenting her for her ability a while ago, saying that no one else can compare to her?" Charles said, "Besides that, you are also aware of what actually happened during the car accident two years ago, right?"

"Leah began planning her schemes at the age of fifteen. She framed Sophia, threatened me, and had even taken account the Harris, White, and Jones family’s reactions into her schemes. Do you think it’s surprising for a person like that to have too many schemes up her sleeves?"

Master Harris' expression changed unpredictably and eventually said sarcastically, "Not exactly surprising, really. You have already used your aunts and Mr. Fredrickson to deal with me. Is there anything else that young people like you can’t do?"

"You flatter me, Grandpa. If I wasn't driven into a corner, then I wouldn't have turned to Mr. Fredrickson for help out of desperation either," Charles said.

Master Harris sneered. "Do you really think that Harris Corporation will be yours just because they have your back?"

"I wouldn’t dare, of course." Charles said, "You have lived for so many years and have more experience than I do. No matter how I escape, I still can’t slip out of your grasp."

Though that was what he said, the look on his face clearly disagreed.

Master Harris looked sullenly at him and began coughing suddenly.

"Are you okay, Master Harris?" Worry was written all over Aunt Jacinda’s face. There were already tears in her eyes.

Master Harris did not respond and covered his mouth with a handkerchief as he coughed violently.

"Don't worry, Aunt Jacinda. Grandpa won't leave until he has arranged everything for Justin," Charles said nonchalantly.

Bang!

Master Harris hurled a glass over as soon as he laid his hands on it. Ken happened to walk over at this moment, hence the glass smashed into his face before rolling to the ground.

"Grandpa, I think you should control your temper. It won't be good for your health if you act like that," Charles said slowly.

Master Harris clenched his handkerchief firmly in his hand. His face had paled tremendously. There was also a suspicious trace of blood on the corners of his mouth. "Get out! I want the two of you to get out of here this instant. Don’t ever come back without my leave!"

"Grandpa, don't be... angry. We’ll leave this instant." Panic and apprehension were written all over Sophia’s face. She then dragged Charles out of the living room.

Master Harris stared at their departing backs with a sinister and ruthless gaze. It was only until the two of them disappeared from his line of vision, did he finally retract his gaze and started coughing whilst covering his mouth with a handkerchief.

He coughed for quite some time before he finally stopped. The handkerchief was already soaked with blood.

Aunt Jacinda took the blood-stained handkerchief with trembling hands and said to him, "You should go back to the hospital to receive your treatment, Master Harris."

"Go back to the hospital to receive treatment, then have all my hair fall out, yet still can’t escape death in the end and die with no dignity?" Master Harris asked rhetorically.

Aunt Jacinda replied, "They have developed a new drug to treat cancer, haven’t they? Try it. Maybe this drug will work for you!"

"New drug, my *ss! There were issues with the clinical trials and they were all withdrawn! They didn’t research anything useful even after I’ve paid them so much money!" Master Harris threw his cane on the table then sat on the couch with Aunt Jacinda’s help.

Ken stood on one side in silence. The glass had slammed into his forehead earlier, hence there was a swelling on his head, making it look like a lump had grown on his head. It was rather hilarious to look at.

"Any progress on the matter I asked you to look into?" Master Harris asked.

Ken replied, "She isn’t pregnant. Mr. Justin’s lover is pregnant, though. But..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Master Harris cut him off and said, "But?! Bring her back if she’s pregnant!"

"Mr. Justin has had too much fun out there in the last few years that he has ended up ruining his health. It’s highly unlikely for him to get anyone pregnant," Ken said, lowering his head.

Patter!

Master Harris grabbed the cane and knocked it hard on the table. "A bunch of useless junks!"

Leah used him like a knife; Sawyer appeased him like he was a fool. One by one, they were all getting more and more unchecked now!

The wound on Sophia's arm was not that serious, but Charles still took her to the hospital eventually. After her wound was bound up, she was then given a tetanus jab.

It happened to be a full week tomorrow, hence Sophia went to Victor to perform a check-up on her leg so she would not need to come again tomorrow.

"You’re recovering very well, much better than I expected." Under Charles’ cool gaze, Victor rolled up Sophia's trouser leg and moved his hand up her well-defined calf and thigh inch by inch.

Sophia's expression eased up tremendously after hearing what he said. "If that’s the case, when do you think my leg will heal, Dr. Hemingway?"

Master Harris found out that Madam Davis had helped her to falsify her pregnancy, but she did not know how to tell him about it.

Dr. Hemingway and Madam Davis had treated her so kindly, but she ended up getting Madam Davis in trouble instead...

Charles looked at Sophia's exposed legs, frowned slightly, and stepped forward, attempting to lower Sophia's trouser leg.

"What’s the rush, Mr. Harris?" Victor grabbed his wrist and laughed. "I haven’t even started the acupuncture treatment yet."

The smile on his face looked really annoying. Charles said with a deadpan look on his face, "This is my first time seeing that you need to touch every inch of her leg like that when you perform your examination and treatment, Dr. Hemingway."

"Oh, if that’s the case, you have very limited knowledge, Mr. Harris. Make sure you read more books next time." Victor let go of his hand and walked over to grab his needles.
