Chapter 339 of 493

Chapter 342

“It’s fine. My mum is no longer here.”

Sophia turned to look at him and it was only then that Vincent finally saw Sophia’s reddened eyes.

It was not because of excessive internal heat, it was because she was crying.

“... I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” Vincent’s gaze fell onto her red, swollen eyes and he stopped smiling.

Sophia shook her head. “It’s fine.”

“We’ll talk about the treatment another day,” Charles moved stealthily in front of her, blocking Sophia from Vincent’s view.

Vincent opened his mouth to say something, but in the end, all he did was offer his condolences and left.

He was concerned about Miss White because of his Aunt Lucy and Miss White’s sad past, but Mr. Harris was always treating him as a rival in love.

-

“Aunt Fisher is dead?” Leah was holding the phone when she asked in slight astonishment.

Lisa’s excited voice could be heard coming from the other end of the phone. “That’s right. The servants from the White family told me about it. She committed suicide out of depression. I heard that Sophia cried so much she almost passed out! If you asked me, serves them right for that death for being a family of dogs who abuses power!”

Leah sighed. Her voice was soft. “They’ve been kind to a traitor such as you, how unjust it is for them...”

Her voice was too soft and Lisa was not able to catch what she said. Lisa asked in a tone which was an octave higher, “What?”

Leah said, “Nothing. I’m sorry, Miss Swift. I’ve wronged Sophia once and I can’t do Sophia anymore wrong. I’m sorry, I want no part in what you’re about to do.”

Lisa got anxious when she heard this. “Don’t do this, Leah Jones! Think about it. You are where you are at right now because it was Sophia White’s doing! Are you really willing to let her go just like that?”

“This is what I deserve. I’ll concede to that,” Leah sighed.

Lisa got angry when she could not convince Leah. “You’re a useless coward. You deserve to be a cripple. Stop f*cking wasting my time if you didn’t want to work together! Cowardly thing. I wish your babies would be disabled in this life, your husband would cheat on you, your company getting bankrupt, and your entire family living a terrible life...”

Leah hung up, a vicious look appeared in her eyes.

Everyone now thought they were good enough to put her down!

She took out an unused mobile and registered it on Weibo. After changing the IP address, she direct messaged a few big names on Weibo.

[My hero, my idol, I have a tip-off for you!]

[My friend, who’s a second-generation rich kid, told me that the wife of the White Industries president had committed suicide by slitting her wrist. Her death had been confirmed!]

[I have evidence of it!]

With that, Leah typed in a bunch of words and she included videos and some voice recordings.

After she was done with it, Leah got rid of all traces of Weibo within that phone and took out a voice enhancer to call a paparazzi.

“Hello, Mr. Lemon. Regarding the person I’ve talked to you about, you can look for her at Chinese Parasol Garden Unit 6 Number 1223. She has the recording of the White family bullying a distant relative in her hands. After this is all done, don’t forget the usual payment just like before!”

After obtaining a guarantee from Mr. Lemon, Leah hung up, turned off her phone, and removed the SIM card. She broke the SIM card in half and tossed it into the bin.

She was never interested in those few thousand bucks of reward given by Mr. Lemon, but she did so much without asking for some form of payment, it might make him suspicious and trouble might follow.

Leah stood up after she was done with all these. She tied up the garbage bag and prepared to throw it.

However, when her gaze swept across the voice enhancer and the twice-used mobile phone on the table, she stopped. She took apart the voice enhancer and threw it into the garbage bag along with the mobile phone. With that, she carried the rubbish out with her.

“Miss Jones, bringing out the garbage?” An elderly woman from the community smiled as she asked.

Leah nodded her head like an obedient little girl. “Grandma, you can pass me yours too.”

“Thank you for the help, Miss Jones.”

“You’re most welcome, grandma. It’s not much effort for me. There’s no difference with bringing out one garbage bag or two.”

The elderly lady smiled. She liked Leah very much and said, “You’ve stayed here for quite a few days, haven’t you? Isn’t it time to go home? There’s no such thing as an overnight feud between family.”

Leah gave an obscure answer and returned to her temporary condo rental after throwing out the garbage.

She had never cooked her own meal before. The fridge was empty and there was nothing to eat or drink in there. All it had was a fruit knife.

Leah took out the fruit knife and placed her earlier written suicide note at the top of the bed. She gave it a thought and took out some anti-depression medication from the drawer. She threw two of the pills onto the floor and placed the medication back into the drawer.

She had confirmed that William and Mr. Stewart would be meeting a major client for a business meeting at Starlight Hotel two kilometers away.

Mr. Stewart would be sure to bring along his mistress, the little secretary. That little secretary lived one floor below Leah. She had purposely left the tap on for the water to start leaking downstairs to bait the little secretary to come upstairs to see her.

Leah went through the details a few more times and took out the mobile phone she usually used. She called the number marked as “William’.

Leah made three continuous calls but no one picked up.

Leah laughed at herself sarcastically. William was really mad at her over an outsider. Would he come for her if she committed suicide?

She could not guarantee it, but danger and opportunity existed side-by-side. If she had to gamble, she was going to go all in!

If Leah succeeded, not only could she reduce the pressures of public opinion surrounding Jones Group, she could also use the opportunity to take down White Industries.

Besides, judging by William’s character, he would be sure to rush to her side. Once he does that, it would mean losing that major client. Her grandfather and the others would not be happy with him. When that happens, they will remember her competence!

Leah’s eyes brightened with conviction as she tried calling him again.

This time, William picked up the call, but sounded pretty annoyed with the first words out of his mouth. “What do you want?”

“Will, do you ha... cough cough... hate me that much? If I di... died, would you forgive me...” Leah laughed mockingly at herself. Her voice sounded weak.

Bam!

Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!

Chapter 341 Gone She threw her phone to the floor.

“Leah? Leah? Where are you?!”

William’s terrified voice came from the other end of the phone.

Leah’s lips twitched coldly. It was about time. She went for the fruit knife and slashed her wrist as hard as she could.

Fresh blood spurted in an instant as it flowed snake-like, to the ground.

-

William was not sure if Leah was playing games or was this for real.

However, the thought of Jenny Fisher’s recent death got him worried that something might really have happened to Leah. In the end, he handed over the task of the business, and taking care of the major client over to Mr. Stewart, followed the little secretary out as she claimed she knew where Leah was.

-

Sophia had no idea how long she sat outside the emergency room. When she took over the death certificate from the doctor and watched them take her mother’s body away, it still felt like she was in a dream.

Would she discover her mum still alive once she woke up from this dream, and hear her mum call out “Soph’ by her ear?

“Soph, where mum?” Nicole was breathless from running, bringing along with her two servants and two kids to the hospital.

Sophia opened her mouth. Her throat was so dry, it hurt. “She’s being brought out to be cremated.”

“I want Jenna and Lennie to see mum...” Nicole’s eyes were read.

Sophia tried her best to smile. “It’s best not to see her. She is bloodied all over. Better for them to remember how mum used to look.”
