Chapter 40

Marie composed herself and stopped smiling. However, there was still joy in her eyes.

“Get new hostess uniforms.” Charles lifted the cup and put it next to his lips. Under Marie’s watchful eyes, he placed it down again. “We don’t do fan service in the club.”

“Mr. Harris, you’re falsely accusing me!” Marie was disappointed when he did not burn himself with the tea this time. “A cheongsam works best to accentuate a woman’s inner beauty. How has it become a fan service? Look at the other clubs! Which club’s uniforms do not show the women’s breasts and thighs?”

“I never went to other clubs before, so I don’t know.” Charles grabbed the necklace and looked at the pendant under the light.

“...” Marie lifted her eyebrows, and her gaze suddenly turned flirty. “Cheongsams are still fine, I just don’t think it’s suitable for Sophia. It exposes her scar, and it’s so ugly. I’m afraid it’ll scare people away. Why don’t I ask someone to make a custom uniform for her? What do you think?”

Charles put away the pendant and made a sound of approval. He agreed to this.

Marie smacked her lips and said tauntingly, “If people don’t know, they’ll think you’re jealous of Sophia being a hostess.”

“Fire the person in charge.” Charles ignored her and lifted the teacup to take a sip.

“He has worked here for ten years. Even if he has never accomplished anything, he works hard. We can’t just fire him. It’ll be such a shame.” Marie blinked, and her every move was sultry. “Why don’t you give me a crime to pin on him?”

“Stealing the precious property of the club. Changing the accounts of the club.” Charles leaned back against the chair. There was a layer of ice in his eyes.

“This crime is too serious. I’m afraid no one will want to hire him anymore if word gets out.” Marie looked at that precious pendant. She knew everything, but she still asked while smiling, “What did he do?”

Charles placed his hands on his knees and looked at her. His eyes were icy.

“Pretend I never asked.” Marie leaned down and supported her chin with her right elbow. Her cleavage was faintly discernible. “Mr. Harris, I discovered something interesting recently.”

She stopped talking to wait for him to ask her.

Even with the glorious view in front of him, he was acting like he did not see it. He only peered at her for a short while before walking away.

Marie watched as he disappeared through the door. She sighed in regret. “I shouldn’t have waited for him to ask me. I should have just told him. I miscalculated...”

...

The next day, 8:30 am.

Sophia got a notice about some setbacks with her uniform, so she had to return the cheongsam. She was given a rest day before the new uniform got here.

“The bosses finally came to their senses and gave you a day off!” Megan exclaimed.

“F*ck all of your ancestors!” Tiffany kicked the foot of the bed, and it made a loud sound. “It’s still early. Are you gonna let me f*cking sleep or not?

F*ck all of...”

“Keep screaming,” Sophia walked to Tiffany’s bed and said flatly.

Tiffany’s face went red. The words she had wanted to say were stuck in her throat. However, when she looked at Sophia’s eyes, she could not say anything. She scoffed loudly and covered her head with her blanket. She purposely made a loud sound.

“She’s crazy.” Megan scoffed and ignored Tiffany who was still kicking around in the bed. She said to Sophia, “You hardly have a day off. Let’s go shopping.”

Sophia looked at the clothes she was wearing that were meant for summer and did not say anything.

Back then, she could still wear her clean uniforms. Now that she had returned her uniform and cheongsam to the office, she was only left with this outfit. It was the same outfit she wore when she got incarcerated.

“I’ve gained weight recently, so there are some clothes that don’t fit me anymore. I’ll give them to you.” Megan got out of bed in only her underwear and took out a khaki-colored coat and a pair of pants.

She looked at Sophia’s shoes and took out a shoebox from under the bed. Then, she took out a pair of black velvet high heels and gave everything to Sophia.

After the two of them changed their clothes and put on some light makeup, they went out the door.

After they closed the door, Tiffany kicked away her blanket. She yelled at the door with her facial features contorted, “You shameless b*tch! You murderer! You’ll f*cking regret this!”

After she yelled at the door, she still did not feel relieved. She got out of bed and took Sophia’s cup. She removed the toothbrush inside and put in inside the toilet. After a while, she took it out and put it back into her cup.

Sophia and Megan went to the nearest mall and got some clothes as well as shoes. When they were done, it was almost noon.

The two of them were hungry, so they chose a Japanese restaurant with good ratings.

“Can we go to another restaurant?” When Sophia went inside the shop, she saw Charles and Leah sitting inside the shop.

Charles had his back toward her, so she could not see his expression. She could only see Leah covering her mouth with her hand. Her eyes turned into two crescent moons, face seemingly filled with joy.

“What’s wrong?” Megan was searching for an unoccupied table for them to sit at. “I’ve been here many times. The food here is fresh and not too expensive. Don’t mind the crowd. After you eat, you’ll think that it’s worth it.”

Sophia did not want to disappoint her since it seemed like Megan wanted to eat here so badly. She made a sound of reply and went to wait for a table by the door with Megan.

Since there were so many people here, Charles and Leah might not see her. When she walked in with Megan, they were almost done, so maybe they would not run into each other.

However, everything was not as it seemed.

“We still have seats at our table. Come with me.” William walked in front of Sophia and looked at her. He looked like he was in a trance.

When she put on normal clothes after taking off her uniform, she looked like the same Miss White from two years ago. It was as if everything was just a dream.

Megan was shocked. She knew this man. He was the young master of Jones Group. Did he know Sophia?

William was here as well? Sophia frowned. “No need. People like me can’t eat at the same table as you.”

“Do you think I’ll invite you if Leah hadn’t asked me to?” William looked indifferent. “Otherwise, you’ll have to wait at least an hour for another table.

Come on.”

Sophia furrowed her brows. Before she could reject, Megan said with a smile, “Thank you, Mr. Jones.”

She stood up and pulled Sophia’s hand. “Let’s go.”

Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!

Chapter 39 No Rush, Answer Me Only When You're Ready When she saw Sophia not moving, she said, “You rarely have an off day. You can’t be wasting an hour just to wait for a seat, right?”

Sophia pressed her lips together. The sun shone on her fringe and cast a shadow on the bridge of her nose.

She stood up with a grunt.

“I had the honor of meeting you before, Mr. Jones. I’m so honored to be able to eat with you today.” Megan let go of Sophia’s hand and walked over to William. She started talking carefully.

William grunted his reply perfunctorily and walked into the shop. After a few steps, he stopped to make sure Sophia was still following them. When he saw that she was, he continued walking.

They walked into the shop.

Charles looked at Sophia who was standing behind William. Then, he averted his eyes. He picked up the chopsticks and took some food for Leah.

During the two years in prison, Sophia had told herself multiple times not to think about Charles when she got out.

However, when she saw him being so caring with Leah, she felt that it was suffocating.
