Charles was not military personnel, and although he violated regulators and killed someone in the streets, he only did so in self-defense and to avoid causing further damage.
Moreover, he had contributed a lot to the effort of arresting Mr. Zellner. Hence, in the end, he was exempted from punishment and was also commended by the government. As a reward, the government proposed a favorable tax reduction to Harris Corporation, along with a series of other benefits.
However, Charles turned them down. âAll I ask is that Mr. Zellner is exempted from the death penalty, I donât want any of these offers. In fact, I donât mind donating 20% of Harris Corporationâs annual net profits to the government too.â
After all of Mr. Zellnerâs scheming and everything he had done to Sophia, it would be a shame to let him die just like that.
He wanted Mr. Zellner to suffer like Leah, to make their lives a living hell so they would repent for everything they had done!
20% of Harris Corporationâs net profits was not a small number at all.
The Department of the Treasury was constantly in deep debt, and they were never able to carry out civilian projects because of the lack of resources, and most importantly, money.
After discussing with the government, they agreed to accept his request. On the surface, Mr. Zellner was given a death sentence, but in reality, they did not shoot him. Instead, they followed Charlesâ request.
Aside from that, the government handed over most of their new projects to Harris Corporation as a token of thanks for all of Harris Corporationâs contribution.
However, there was still one troubling matter to handle, and that was Harris Corporation being involved in human experiments.
If they got rid of Charles, the next chairman of Harris Corporation might disagree with Charlesâ proposal to donate 20% of the companyâs net profits to the country.
Just as everyone was worried about this matter, Master Harris approached the government side and bore full responsibility for the case.
âI was the one who approved the human experiments, it has nothing to do with Charles and Harris Corporation. Aside from funding the experiments, Harris Corporation did not participate in anything else, and I can attest that Charles was unaware of everything.â
âAs for the doctors, I hired a few doctors from outside and sent them over to participate in the experiments whereas the others were sent by other companies. Please talk to me if you need any more information, thereâs no need to trouble Charles and Harris Corporation any more.â

Sophia was still recuperating in the hospital when she received the news that Master Harris turned himself in.
She was extremely shocked. âIs he that kind of person to do that sort of thing?â she asked Charles.
She still could not imagine someone like Master Harris to actually sacrifice himself for the greater good.
âOf course not,â Charles replied, âMy aunts and uncles are already upset enough when they heard that I want to surrender 20% of the companyâs net profits to the government. They wanted to use the human experiment case as an excuse to ship me off, then Justin would take over as the president and Luna would become the chairman.â
His eyes turned cold and revealed a jeering look. âIn Grandfatherâs eyes, Luna will never be a Harris because sheâs a girl, whereas Justin was just never a Harris, to begin with. How could Grandfather allow Harris Corporation to be led by outsiders then?â
That was why Master Harris was willing to come forward and accept all the responsibility. It was to prevent Charles from being taken away and Harris Corporation falling into the hands of an outsider.
Sophia lowered her gaze and thought for a moment before she suddenly came to a realization. âYou didnât offer such a high amount of net profits just to make sure that Mr. Zellner doesnât get a death sentence, did you? You always thought of all this, right?â
Charlesâ silence confirmed her guess.
Grandfather was like a ticking timebomb, and although he did not have much time to live, it was a risk to keep him by his side. He had to eliminate all factors that might potentially prevent his and Sophiaâs wedding from going smoothly as planned.
Sophia sucked a deep breath. With this brain of his and all the elaborate scheming, no wonder she was unable to run away from him in the past.
âAre you scared of me?â Charles frowned slightly when he noticed her pale face. She did not even panic for a moment when she was facing Mr.
Zellner, yet she was showing signs of being afraid of him.
She was just slightly shocked at how everything from the start to the end was in his control.
Charles let out a sigh of relief, then he heard her continue, âIf thereâs anything to be scared of, it should be me. Look at my face, even I get scared when I see myself.â
âYouâre still the most beautiful woman to me no matter what.â Charles carefully cupped her face and planted a kiss on her lips.
She froze slightly when she saw her scarred face through the reflection in his pupils and she wanted to push him away instinctively, but he merely tightened his arms around her.
Everywhere he touched, he felt scars, and his hands trembled involuntarily as he quickly withdrew them. His chest felt heavy and he could barely breathe too.
With so many wounds, how much pain did she suffer at that time?
He suddenly stopped as Sophiaâs eyes dimmed and she quickly averted his kiss. âIs it very... ugly?â
âYouâre not ugly, Iâm just worried about hurting you because your wounds are still not completely healed.â Seeing her feeling so down about herself hurt him.
He turned her face over and pecked her lips. The hoarseness in his voice was tainted with desire as he said, âAre you scared of the pain? I want you.â
As soon as he said so, he wandered down and began trailing kisses along her neck.
Sophia squirmed in his arms, the disappointment in her eyes from before instantly vanished. âIâm not... Itâs not appropriate now.â
Her entire body was covered with scars, she could not possibly satisfy him.
With their bodies pressed together, Sophia could feel how his body was reacting, and he was certainly not just talking. He really wanted to prove it to her.
She could not help but feel touched, and at the same time, very shy and embarrassed. âCharles... Ah...â
He had unclasped her bra and was currently nibbling on a sensitive spot. Her hand naturally went to grab his hair as she arched her body, and a seductive moan came out of her throat.
Charles looked up at her, only to see her eyes brimmed with tears. His lips curled up and he sucked on her neck, his voice even more hoarse now.
âYou want me.â

ï¤Chapter 484 The End Pt. 2 Then, he stopped for a brief moment to lick his red and plump lips that were slightly swollen because of their kiss, and he traced his fingers beneath her panties.
âDonât... I really canât...â Sophiaâs face heated up as she frantically grabbed his hand, and before she could finish her sentence, the door clicked open.
Her eyes widened in shock, and before she could react, Charles turned her over and jumped into bed with her, covering both of them with the blanket.
He was just in time before the person who opened the door entered the room.
Sterling was walking in front with Megan behind him as he explained, âI canât decide this, maybe you can try talking to Soph.â
With that, he turned to look at Sophia and Charles who were lying in bed, and exclaimed in shock, âWhy are the two of you in the same bed together?â
The hospital bed was a single bed so it must be uncomfortable for the two of them to be squeezing in one bed.
