Chapter 489

Her usual cold and handsome superior who ruled above all was wearing a dinosaur mascot costume with a matching head mask.

"Mr. Harris, w-why..." Marie rarely stuttered, but she was at a loss for words right then.

Charles glared at her and walked in with the dinosaur head mask still in hand.

Everyone else in the room was taken aback by his appearance as well, and the room instantly became pin-drop silent.

Zachary and Fredrickson walked out from behind of him.

"How decadent, this is public indecency," Frederick said nonchalantly as he cast a quick glance at Marie's cleavage.

Marie replied with a wink and said in a sing-song tone, "If you think it's such an eyesore, you don't get to touch or kiss them later tonight!"

Frederick's expression instantly darkened and he turned on his heels as he snorted loudly.

"Cough, mind your words, we still have an innocent soul here." Zachary awkwardly adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. "Ms. Marie, please help me take a few more photos of Charles in his dinosaur costume. Think of it as a favor for me, I'll get you something in return."

Marie leaned back against the wall. "I don't want to die so soon."

"He won't find out if you do it without him knowing," Zachary whispered to her while Charles's attention was focused elsewhere, "In return, I'll tell you why Charles suddenly decided to dress up as a dinosaur."

Marie's eyes lit up instantly as an idea brewed in her head.

"Charles was just worried people might be talking about Sophia so he decided to have an outfit change all of sudden. Alright, that's all. I did my part already so remember to take pictures for me!" Zachary sneakily said and quickly walked away with a dinosaur costume clutched in his hands.

Sophia was shocked as well when she saw Charles in his dinosaur get-up. "Why are you all dressed up like this?"

His style had always been basic and simplistic, and she would never expect him to wear something like this.

Besides, it was their wedding, he should be in his custom-made suit and tie.

"Don't you like dinosaurs?" Charles took the dinosaur costume from Zachary and handed it to her. "Here, this is yours."

Sophia merely ignored it and said, "This is our wedding."

There were a lot of guests at their wedding, who knew what people would think about his get-up!

"Isn't it more interesting and fun if we dress up like this at our wedding? Come on, do you want to get changed yourself, or would you rather I help you into it?" Charles cupped her face and smirked at her.

Sophia felt her cheeks heat up. "I... I can do it myself."

She changed into the dinosaur costume and got into the car with him, and that was when the realization hit her.

She did not have to reveal her face now that she was dressed in a dinosaur costume.

Did he do this for her?

Clara was getting bored standing by the door talking to the guests, but not long after, she noticed a fleet of cars driving away.

"That's strange, why are there so many cars? What's happening?"

Coincidentally, one of the maids passed by and exclaimed in shock, "Ms. Robertson, what are you doing here?"

"I'm waiting for Charles!"

"They already left with the bride!"

"What?!" Clara replied in shock.

She was panicking so much she was close to tears, and she quickly took out her phone and called Zachary. "Zachary!!!! All of you forgot about me!"

How unbelievable! She was a bridesmaid, how could everyone forget about her so easily?!

Dressed in a dinosaur costume, Sophia found it hard to move around. She clumsily stretched out her hand and poked Charles. "Did you decide for us to dress like this because I was unhappy when I tried on my wedding dress?"

"You're overthinking." Charles tapped her nose gently, his eyes filled with tenderness. However, there was a hint of pity in his eyes that he was trying to suppress. "I just think it would be fun."

He did not want her to think too much about it.

He had placed the order for the wedding gown two years ago, and back then, he would never have expected something as drastic as the car accident to happen. All he could think of was how beautiful Sophia would look in the wedding dress.

When they finally confirmed their wedding date, he contacted the designer who made the wedding dress, but the designer refused to redesign a gown that was already completed so he was out of luck.

Moreover, the wedding gown was only sent over just a few days ago before the wedding so it was too late even if they wanted to alter it or change anything.

In fact, he actually ordered another gown in a different design after not being able to convince the original designer, but three months were too short a notice so they were not able to finish the new gown in time.

Sophia nodded thoughtfully and did not say anything.

Charles's kindness and thoughtfulness to her had always gone beyond her

imagination.

By the time the wedding car arrived outside the hotel, there were already a bunch of

luxury cars parked outside as well. As soon as Sophia got out of the car, Charles

was already pulling her into the hotel.

The two of them got off the elevator, and just as they were about to enter the

wedding hall, Sophia tugged Charles gently from behind, her eyes starry and soft. "I want to wear my wedding dress for you."

She did not care what people thought about her anymore, she would walk down the aisle with him in her wedding dress, just for him.

Almost an hour had passed since the wedding ceremony was supposed to begin

and the bride and groom were still nowhere to be seen. All the guests were

confused and frantic, whispering to each other

"What's going on? Why are they still not here?"

"I heard Sophia's face had been disfigured, is it possible that Mr. Harris is regretting

his decision and doesn't want to marry her anymore?"

"That's understandable. With Mr. Harris' qualifications, he could certainly do so

much better!"

"Maybe Sophia thinks it's too embarrassing to show up!"

William took a gulp of red wine as he listened to everyone's harsh whispers, but he

could not taste anything in his mouth.

Frankly, he could not help but wish that Charles was abandoning Sophia. Then, at least he would have a chance in pursuing Sophia again.

However, if Charles was willing to risk his life and the Harris family's legacy for Sophia, how was it possible that he would abandon her now?

Just as William felt all sorts of emotions rushed in, the room fell silent, followed by soft gasps.

He looked up instinctively, and when he saw the couple walking into the room, he

was stunned.

Charles, dressed in a white crisp suit, looked as sharp and handsome as usual. However, the usual piercing, cold look in his eyes was not as prominent as before, but instead, had a hint of gentleness and warmth.

Beside him, Sophia wore a black wedding gown and had on a golden mask with enchanting patterns outlining the corners of her eyes that covered half her face.

The black gown accentuated her waist, and the black shade complemented the scars on her arms and back. Instead of deliberately concealing her flaws, she bore these scars proudly and

used them to her advantage to make her shine. She was enchantingly beautiful.

This version of her, the mysterious, the elegance that radiated from her still brought

out her beauty even when half of her face was covered.

Every doubt that everyone in the room had disappeared instantly as each of them

quietly turned to Charles and Sophia. Aside from the shocked, surprised look, they

could not help but feel envious as well.

Charles was handsome and rich, a talented business whiz. He was absolutely

perfect.

Yet, a perfect man like him was willing to give everything up for Sophia, and even to

the point where he would risk his own life... It was hard to imagine that a love like this actually existed in the world.

Sophia had not expected Charles to have someone to design a black wedding gown

for her, and it was even more unexpected that the gown would be ready in time and sent over right before the wedding ceremony too.

Some people might think of black as a color of bad luck.

At least, she had never seen the bride get married in a black wedding dress in the

upper-class society.

She could not describe how she felt when she saw the black wedding dress.

Shocked, but at the same time, it was as if she had already expected it.

Charles was constantly doing things that surprised her.

Sophia strode down the red carpet slowly, welcomed by everyone's envious and

jealous eyes, completely different from the cold, sneering looks she had seen in her

dream.

Her throat felt dry and her nose began to itch. She wanted to cry, but

she knew that they were tears of joy. She could not express how blessed she felt and how much her chest

was just bursting with joy at the very moment. Content belongs to

"Sophia, I love you."

She heard Charles' soft voice in her ear and she turned to look at him as a bright

smile broke across her face. She stopped in her tracks and shouted back at him,

"Charles Harris, I love you too!"

They were finally getting married.

In life, there would always be tens and millions of reasons for you to give up a

relationship, a person, but you only need one reason to hold on love. Fortunately for her, she and Charles never gave up on each other.
