MERCY'S POV
My heart was beating faster than usual , I looked up to meet his eyes his hands still wrapped around my tiny waist.
His eyes were tracing my whole face, making all my face feel hot.
Wait was he about to kiss me ? And why was I finding that fact so intriguing. I slowly bit my lips and he leaned closer.
And then suddenly
"Christ! You guys surprised me." I heard someone shout pushing me out of the trance Teni put me in .
I shifted back and almost hit the chair that was right behind me. I looked at the direction of the person and it was Dayo.
I swear they have swear for that boy or maybe his village people are already near him.
But if he didn't interfere what would have happened , would we have kissed ?
'jamb question. Of course yes.' my subconscious said and immediately earned a glare from me.
I carried my bag and walked out of the class not before hissing at Dayo. I even heard Teni say something which made Dayo laugh. I swear that guy is crazy and one thing about him is that no matter how much you abuse him he will laugh and brush it off.
If it was me ehn , world war iii would have started.
I heard someone heavy footsteps as if they were running and I was sure it was Teni but I was too shy to just wait or turn back.
And then suddenly I felt a tug pull me back.
I turned back and looked at Teni , he was sweating, well after running like that and also with this hot sun that can boil water why won't he sweat.
I quickly looked down ,
"Mercy , uhm ......." He said scratching the back of his neck.
His nervousness made me look up , he looked cute .
"What?" I asked back with a smile. And seconds later after we locked eyes with each other we bursted out laughing.
And then he walked towards me and draped his hands on my shoulders , making my heart beat at that weird rate again . I looked at him and a large grin was on his face.
"Am going home oo." I said cause he was living in a private hostel and he would have to walk in another direction entirely.
"I know... I can sha walk you to the gate?" He asked teasingly.
"Yeye." I said with a chuckle making him laugh.
"So where should we start with taking the pictures for the project?" I asked him
"I don't know , whenever you're ready." He said back while looking down at me , yeah am tall but he was still taller.
"Uhm what about tomorrow.. and I can use that opportunity to finally tour the campus, and you'll be my tour guide." I said , I've been so busy since we resumed and I haven't toured the whole campus.
And touring the school has not crossed my mind before.
"Of course my lady. But you'll pay for my service."Â He said back
"Well I'll pay back with my beautiful smiles ." I said back making him laugh.
"Okay ma . I will be your tour guide tomorrow. " His reply made me scoff
"Guy like you had a choice." I replied him ,
"So , have you finally set that your roommate straight?" He asked me ,
We were near the gate and we would finally go our separate ways to our house of course.
I sighed , Trisha and I were barely roommates again. She doesn't even come home again and well it's her choice.
"No , I haven't seen her . She doesn't even come home again." I said to Teni.
"Oh.. okay then. Don't you feel bored , only you at home?"Â He asked concern filling his whole features.
"Well not only me I have very cool neighbours. I told you about them na. Remember one time that you called like this?" I asked looking at him .
"Yeah I remember. That's good sha. Bye. Call when you're home okay?" He said ,
Well wasn't he already acting the boyfriend part and no wonder joy and Esther always say we act like couples.
"Okay , bye." I said with a smile and waved at him as I left .
........
"Pelee , take water." Deborah said as I walked into the compound.
I chuckled and walked faster to grab the very chilled bottle water.
I quickly gulped the water and the remaining I poured it on my head.
"Ahh ... God bless you." I said making her laugh.
"That sun is too much , global warming is already affecting Nigeria. Our ozone layer is already being deflected....." She kept on rambling, did I mention that she was your typical science efiko.
I laughed and touched her shoulder and immediately they decided to on the light.
I heard "up NEPA." from different apartments making me myself wave at Deborah and walk faster to the staircase. I climbed it fast or more like ran on the staircase.
I opened the door and walked in , immediately meeting the quiet home , and well it was becoming quite boring just like how Teni said.
I sighed as I switched on the bulb and quickly turned the fan control to the highest.
I sat down directly under it , I removed my top leaving me only in my jeans trouser and bra.
I was about to stand up and go take a bath when Trisha's door opened.
I was startled and almost screamed sef , I turned to the direction and it was the owner herself.
I quickly stood up to walk to my room but was stopped by what she said ,
"Mercy .."
I turned back and looked at her , anger was boiling in me but I kept quiet and just watched.
That was me , I just keep quiet when someone make me over angry or hurt me. If you've reached that level with me , then only God can settle what we have.
I liked that reaction , it just makes the other person feel really guilty.
She cleared her throat making me raise a eyebrow at her.
"Mercy... I'm really sorry for how I've been . For how I've been acting. I really am and I just figured out that I might actually be the biggest fool right now for what I did to you .
I don't know what came over me , look am not asking you to be my friend back cause I know that might be impossible after how I acted. But please forgive me if you can.
I know this feels sudden but I've been feeling really guilty and I figured we might need some space so I'm moving out.
I'm moving to lim's house , they kept a room there for me before but I didn't stay there cause of my dad. But I'm moving there now.
Maybe if we meet later or if we forget and leave this as the past we can start over and I promise I won't be a backstabbing bitch."
She ended with a frown and glistening eyes.
Did she just say she was moving out?
I couldn't believe what I was seeing , she was really moving out and actually apologizing to me.
But still I kept quiet and just watched her.
What will she tell her dad? Not like it was my business and she'll also be with her real friends.
I sighed and picked my bag from the floor . I walked to my door and before I entered I turned back and said
"I really thought we'll be besties or really good friends and what you did really hurt me . But what do you want to do about it?
Leave?, You don't even want to make an effort to make it right?" I said angrily making her flinch,
She sighed and looked at me,
"I know Mercy and I'm sorry I hurt you. And about leaving, I know you Mercy. Even if we stay here together we can't be like how we were before everything. It would be awkward for the both of us.
Am really sorry but I think it would be better If I leave. We can start from the beginning when we meet again." She said and I walked into my room.
I heard the door close and I walked out back ,
She was gone. I walked into her room and it was empty except for her bed. Since when did she pack her loads.
Her apology was so unexpected too , and her decision to leave was confusing to me.
Was it really necessary to leave?
I walked out of her room and walked into my bathroom.
I removed all my clothes and stood under the shower head. The water was a little hot at first showing how that sun was.
Later it became cool and i relaxed under it as it poured on my whole body.
And in this moment I forgot all about Trisha , the almost kiss between Teni and I.
And it all felt nice as the water just poured down on me.

"She moved out." I said to Teni who was at the other end of the phone.
The phone was on speaker because I was cooking. And I kinda missed the times we used to cook here together.
Why are humans so complicated? , why do they hurt others ?
"Really? Why?" I thought you said it's her father's building?" He asked back.
I was cutting the onions and it was those types that always make tears come out from one's eye.
I sniffled ,
" It is oo , I don't know ... She said she wanted to give us space.". I said back.
"It's good like that Jo. But aren't you bored?"
"I can manage." I said back.
"Really? Are you sure?"
" Well you're here right?"
I asked , shit why did I say that. And since when did we start talking like this ?
"I'll always be there for you." He said raising all my emotions up. I giggled ,
"Stop with your flirting Teni." I said laughing,
He laughed back
"Only for you babe." He replied,
Ehhh when did we reach the babe level ?
When did they reach oo?
And is Teni competing with Hakeem now.
