MERCY’S POV

“It’s a girl night!!” A familiar voice screamed .

I just shook my head and faced the jellof rice back.

The two besties walked into the sitting room and then Trisha finally decided to comment .

“I swear this girl can eat.” She said making Halima chuckle,

“Abeg free her oo. Mercy how far.” Halima said dropping on one of the couch.

“Am good. How you?” I said back at her.

“I’m not fine at all , am tired of that house . Am the only girl there and I’m thinking of moving here too.”  Lim said making us laugh

“Am serious, the only thing they do is wash clothes with Washing machine oo and I still force them to clean the house. I’m tired.” She complained again.

“We have two rooms na , sebi I told you to stay here with me but you wanted to stay with Gori.”  Trisha said making lim roll her eyes.

I chuckled at the both of them and walked into the kitchen to drop my plate.

My eyes lingered on the pot but I quickly removed my eyes.

I walked back to the sitting room and sat down on my favourite couch where I was seated before.

“So have you ordered the cake?” Kim asked Trisha.

“Which cake are you talking about?” I asked both of them confused.

“Mide’s birthday cake remember? I told you na.” Trisha said making me remember , I quickly nodded and turned to face them.

“I’ve ordered it , and have you invited people?” Trisha asked back ,

“Yeah , I have . Our former classmates are coming sef. What remain is how you will take him out.” Lim said.

Making me quickly add , “well I told her to ask him out.” I raised the idea again.

“ that’s a good idea.” lim said with a clap. She was grinning widely and looked so beautiful.

She was the opposite of her brother, she looked so carefree while he was so uptight.

“ I’m not doing it.” Trisha said while lim and I just stared blankly at her.

“Fine , fine.” She muttered grabbing her phone.

She dialled his number and walked to the kitchen when he picked.

“ she’s to shy , the both of them sef.” Lim said to me.

I laughed agreeing to her , “and slow.” I added.

She stretched out her fist and I quickly hit it with mine making the both of us laugh harder.

“He accepted!” Trisha shouted as she walked into the sitting room.

“Told you he will.” I said back making her grin.

“I can’t believe it. “ she said while lim mouthed slow to me making me bit back a laugh.

And like that my subconscious now decided to talk what about you? Are you not slower than her?.

I didn’t reply just sighed , there was this guy that I liked a lot in SS3 and I was sure he liked me too since he was always making advances at me but I pushed him and the week when I decided to say yes , he found another girl.

I was so angry well not at him but at myself cause I couldn’t blame the guy , he has been showing me that he has feelings since SS1 and finally moved on after two years.

But it’s in the past, I looked at my two friends and I was actually happy for Trisha, she really likes Mide . It was very obvious.

I turned back to the TV as the both of them kept on talking about their plans .

I don’t really like parties, it’s always filled with people making it tiring for me.

There’s one thing I hate about Korean films , they were too slow. Whenever they wanted to kiss they would stare at each other or whenever they were angry , or when something is about to happen they would just stare but they were better than india films sha , all those ones are another story entirely.

And now they were doing the thing I hated , they were staring at each other, just get on with it I almost shouted but got distracted when I heard my name.

I looked over at the two girls,

“What?”i asked them,

“I said that you and Keem will get the drinks. He has been complaining that someone will have to follow him but Gori has work to do with me , we will be arranging the sitting room and well remaining you.” Halima explained making me choke on my spit.

Did she just say she wants me to follow Hakeem, only him and I in a car , for how many minutes. His eyes alone will melt me. Gori should follow him jeje.

“No I don’t think I can go. I will design with you let Gori go” I said surprising them .

“ Gori and I have already planned it out. Please just go. It’s not like he bites.” Halima said with a pout .

She looked so cute remembering me of her twin.

Hakeem and I shopping together sounded crazy.

Idara also said she wanted a picture, I could snap him discretely and send it to her. And I could also get the quiet

mister to talk to me.

“Okay.” I said defeated by her pout. Trisha chuckled and we continued talking.

Trisha even told her about how I fell down the other day and well I was really glad that Trisha’s my roommate.

“Picture perfect you don’t need no filter..... Gorgeous make them drop dead you’re a killer..” I kept on singing as I packed my hair into a bun.

The braid was long and big , I don’t like tiny braid . How many hours will I use to sit down and I hate sitting down for too long in an hairdresser's shop.

I picked my crop top from the bed where I dropped the clothes I will wear today.

I wore it and it showed only a little skin cause of my high waist jeans.

I wore a sandal , grabbed my pink back bag and then I was good to go.

Trisha was still in a boxer and tank top eating cereals while watching a movie when I entered the sitting room.

“got to  go , bye.” I said and walked out of the house.

I was already thirty minutes late when I got to the hall. The only seats available was at the back so I walked there fast and sat down.

Two people were standing on the podium , I couldn’t see Their face cause they were far and I wasn’t wearing my glasses .

A guy was given the microphone and he introduced himself ,

“Good afternoon everyone, I’m Adebowale Mike and I’mglad you guys chose me as your president......” he said.

So they have voted for the president and assistant. The guy’s stature looked so familiar and if only I could see his face.

When he was done talking he gave the girl the mic and she also introduced herself as Esther and she was the assistant , sorry VP.

After that the remaining professors started introducing their selves and after an hour and half the event ended.

Praise the lord somebody! I said inward and my subconscious replied  hallelujah.

I stood up carrying all the wrappers of chocolates and cookies and stuffing them in my bag.

The girl sitting beside me was already asleep and I needed her to shift her legs.

“Hey, wake up.” I said tapping her gently .

She opened her eyes , rubbing her face and looked at me . She looked cute,

“Are they done? I can’t believe I slept.” She said making me chuckle

“Can’t blame you it was more than boring.” She laughed at what I said.

“Am Esther .” she suddenly said with a smile.

“Mercy.” I said back.

She finally stood up and grabbed her clutch purse.

“Do you live in the hostel too cause I’m sure I haven’t seen you around before. “ She said looking at me.

“No , I live off campus.” I replied as we both walked out.

“wow , you’re lucky, am tired of that hostel. “ she said ,

I chuckled, “why?” I asked and then like she has been waiting for someone to ask her that particular question, she started talking about the hostel.

After we talked more for like twenty minutes we exchanged numbers and I finally left , walking home.

“Mercy!” I heard from my sleep , I hated it when someone just decide to wake me up and I really wanted to sleep so I turned to the other side and covered my ears.

The same person pulled my hands away and called me again.

I sat up glaring at her ,

“What?” I asked annoyed , she smiled sheepishly, “what should I wear?” she asked raising a gown on one hand and then jeans and top on the other.

I collected the gown and stared at it , it was a yellow tie and dye free gown with threads at the ends. It looked beautiful .

I collected the jeans and top, she has a very good figure , figure eight and jeans always fit her.

The top she picked was also cute and I was confused.

“Which one do you like?” I asked her and she pointed at the gown.

“  I like the gown too, you can wear it with a sandal or white vans but wait wear the jeans . You’ll be more comfortable , wear your white vans with it , that one that I said I like.” I said and gave it back to her.

She kept on saying thanks and even hugged me while I broke into a smile and then she walked out .

I quickly laid on my bed and I fell asleep again.

When Trisha left I heard her about a bye but I didn’t bother to reply as I turned again.

I slept around 4am today and this was just, whatever the time is.

After turning and realising that I couldn’t sleep again I heard a knock.

I didn’t move cause Trisha would probably go. I heard the knock again reminding me that Trisha has gone to her date.

I stood up and wore my flip-flops, I walked to the door and opened it.

I looked up and well

What is Hakeem doing in front of me?

What is keem doing there?

Remember?

Okay I need to sleep ,
