CHAPTER 67
MERCY'S POV
"babe, are you not done?"
Hakeem called again from the sitting room but I did not even bother replying. I was done but suddenly I got nervous and now I am just seating in front of my vanity table.
We moved into our apartment last week and I am so loving it. I sent the money mum gave me for accommodation to Hakeem and he used it to buy a gold hand chain for me which looked so pretty that I could not reject it. I repainted it in my head that it was his money.
I looked down at the hand chain pretty sure that the gold was real gold. I did not even notice when the door opened and Hakeem got in.
"what's wrong?"
He asked giving me a little scare, he moved closer and squatted in front of me holding my hands softly and gently like it was an egg.
"I am nervous. You know everything here is new."
He nodded,
"and I know you will do good. Here is new but something common is the fact that they are both about learning. I will be here with you at all times. You will do really fine."
I nodded pulling him into a hug before standing up.
It has been two weeks since Hakeem met his long, dead friend alive, sounds hilarious sef, but it has been two weeks. Daniel went back to his college two days later and they have been in contact. They chat most times and I think they just want to catch up on each other's life. Me sef go get best friend oo.
"thanks babe."
I said before finally standing up. I was dressed in a black fitted leather skirt, white t-shirt and black leather boot to go.
"my babe looks so hot."
Hakeem said, I hit his hand before sashaying making sure to shake my little butt as I walked out. Mistake, my butt is not all that small, in fact it got bigger sef.
"babe don't kill me."
I laughed out, as usual I went to the fridge and packed lots of snacks, as much as my bag could carry before turning to leave.
"I missed this."
Hakeem said from where he was standing by the door watching me.
"I missed it more."
I said back.
"you and food, I don't know why you get thinner instead of fatter."
I walked to where he was and placed my hands on his chest with a flirty smile on my face before dropping a quick kiss on his lips.
"tell me you don't love me like this."
He laughed, his head rolling back,
"I love you anyhow."
I blushed, he and his sweet mouth. He placed his lips on mine, pulling me closer into the kiss. See person that said he does not want to be late. He is the one who is kissing me now. I pushed him back to my own dismay,
"oya let us go."
"yes ma'am."
He curtsied making me chuckle again.
We walked out of the house. He closed the door and we got into the elevator.
"you and Anu might have some classes together."
"how?"
"art classes."
"I thought you were having classes together."
"no, she is an interior design student."
"oh."
I remember she told me once too but my mind was not where she was saying that day. All I could think of was Hakeem is so leaving that place. Don't mind me.
We got into his car and he drove off in the direction of the school. I looked out the window watching the scenery, it reminded me of my first day going to Unilag, I was watching everywhere with my mum beside me. I remember watching people getting on the bus, some hawking and looking out now all I saw was people trying to get into their various cars or taxis. Some entering the bus, everywhere was bubbly and beautiful. But one thing was common between the two, everyone is just trying to survive each day. Working and working, trying to find some end means. Trying to get on with the challenges life throws at them.
"babe, you okay?"
Hakeem asked cutting me off my thoughts.
"yeah, I am fine."
I said back looking away from the window and at me.
"we can go on a date later to celebrate your first day."
I grinned placing a hand over his which was on my thigh,
"that sounds nice."
He nodded with a warm smile. He drove into the college and I stared amazed at the lovely structures and buildings.
He parked his car and grabbed his phone. We both stepped out together and he held my hand and walked somewhere. This was not my first time, I came here for a quick tour and I wish I can find my way to my classes but this place is really big.
I looked up and noticed Anu was standing at a distant, she waved her hands once our eyes met. When we got closer, she gave me a quick hug.
"you two almost got me late."
"sorry."
Hakeem said giving her a side hug.
"the two of you ehn, I don't know how I got stuck. Anyway, Mercy let's go. I can't afford to be late to that man's class."
I turned to Hakeem with a pout,
"I thought you were taking me."
He placed his hands on my cheeks,
"babe, if the person Anu is talking about seems bad then I don't know what to say about mine, I am really sorry. I will walk you tomorrow."
He said, dropped a quick kiss on my lips before running in the opposite direction. Fool, he had to run.
I chuckled and faced Anu back,
"you two are so cute. Baba had to run sef."
"and I was just teasing him sef."
We both laughed as we walked down the road. I tried taking down the path, buildings and everything.
"you are not good."
"I did not expect him to run like that. anyway, how's Luke?"
Anu and I got closer over the weeks, she helped with the move except there was nothing to move aside from Hakeem's stuff. We just had fun that night, Lim and Luke were also present.
"he is cool."
"how is Korey?"
I asked with a raised eyebrow and smirk.
She was dating this awfully cute guy, and damn they seem like the power couple. You know, like Hakeem and I. they look so good together. She showed me one snapchat video of the both of them on a date, their cuteness made me drool aswear. I am even thinking of shipping names for them, and since she goes by Naomi, what do you think about Komi. I think it sounds cute like them though. I was talking to Hakeem about it but he just told me to dead the idea.
"I broke up with him last night."
I stopped on my tracks and turned to her with my mouth wide opened. Did the guy cheat on her or something? What happened?
"what happened?"
I could not help but ask exactly what was on my mind. she chuckled leaving me confused. Who laughs when they are asked about why they broke up? Anu does.
"I got bored."
Someone hit me let me faint!
After thinking about ship names and showing Hakeem all their pictures and videos, talking on and on about how they cute they were, mama said she got bored.
See my life.
I wasted time only to hear this rubbish. No wonder, Hakeem told me to die that idea. I should have jejely.
"you got bored?"
I asked again, you never know, maybe it was a slip of tongue.
"yes, I got tired of him."
Ahh!
"but you guys look so in love."
Her expression changed for a slight second,
"I can't love him. I don't."
Why do I feel like there is something more to it with how she said it?
"let's go. I don't want to be late."
She said cutting my thoughts off and trust me, it was speeding. Why can she not love him? is she like those people who can't feel anything psychologically or what?
"yeah sure."
"Mercy, just to give you an heads up, whenever I date don't get attach or think deep into it. It is just for fun to me. and they come to me, I just can't say no, can I?"
she sounded so dope. So she is like a female player. I am glad to see that boys also get played.
"sure."
I said back with a chuckle thinking it cannot be that bad but trust me it was even worse.
i know it was short but forgive me,
the next chapter is going to be the last.
i know but i guess it really is time to finish LIH.

who can guess who will finally catch Anu.
and is it not just hilarious, after everything Mercy has planned, Anu said she has already broken up cause she was bored. Hakeem already warned her so I am not pitying her.
who thinks Anu will be drama.
and did Hakeem really have to run?
