Elizabeth rushed out of the castle and had a pageboy get a carriage ready. Thomas followed his goddaughter, concerned for her. A carriage pulled up in front of them and a guard opened the door for Elizabeth, holding out his hand to help her in. The Princess took the guard's hand and entered the carriage, followed by her godfather. The pair rode off, unaware that they were being followed by James. Thomas turned to Elizabeth and said to her, "What was in that letter?" Elizabeth replied, "It was from my mother's lady-in-waiting. She told me that by the time I got the letter, she would be dead. She committed suicide, Uncle Thomas." Thomas only stare at his goddaughter. The pair arrived at the location where Elizabeth's mother stayed. Elizabeth got out of the carriage and entered the place where her mother had stayed. As soon as she entered, she was greeted with a terrifying sight. From outside, Thomas was getting out of the carriage when he heard his goddaughter's terrified screams and raced to her aid. He entered the cottage and found Elizabeth on the ground, looking up at something. He followed her gaze and found a body hanging from the ceiling by a rope. It was Elizabeth Darrel, the loyal lady-in-waiting to Queen Catherine of Aragon. The poor woman was taken by grief by the death of her beloved Queen and took her life.

The princess and Lord Chancellor weren't the first ones to come face-to-face with the poor woman's body. Thomas Wyatt, a former admirer of Queen Anne, had came to fancy with the lady-in-waiting and was the first one who found her body. However, he was terrified at the sight and fled. Elizabeth did the sign of the cross as she stood, with the help of her godfather, and whispered, "Poor woman. She was one of my mother's faithful servants." Thomas said, "Then, she shall be buried here where she stayed with your mother till the very end. I'll have one of the guards help me. Stay here." Elizabeth nodded then walked around, remembering the night she visited her mother. How she wished that her sister was there with her. It has been too long since the two sisters have been with each other. Anne has truly ruined Elizabeth's life and she will never forgive her for it. No matter how hard she tried to forgive the woman, her heart was in too much pain. The sound of her godfather calling her name interrupted the young woman's thoughts and she went to join him. Elizabeth said to her godfather, "Uncle, I want you to promise me that if there was any point in time where there was a chance in circumstances, you will not side with Anne Boleyn." Thomas could only nod, unaware of the promise he had made. Elizabeth and Thomas rode to the castle where they were greeted by an upset looking James. Elizabeth sighed as she stepped out of the carriage when she saw her husband. She walked over to him and said, "Why, my love. What has made you so upset?" James crossed his arms and kept quite. Elizabeth sighed and said, "May we speak in private? Away from the public ears?" James only nodded and led his wife to their chambers. He said to the servants and Elizabeth's ladies-in-waiting, "Leave us. Now!" The servants and ladies-in-waiting rushed to get out of the room, curtsying and bowing to the royals. James turned back to his wife, once he made sure that the servants were gone, and said to her, "What is the meaning of this? Of all of the secrecy and running off?" Elizabeth replied, sighing, "I visited my mother before she died without my father's permission."

James was taken back by his wife's statement. Surly, not Elizabeth, the favoured daughter of King Henry VIII, would go against her father's orders. Elizabeth said, "I had no choice, James. I hadn't seen my mother since I was twelve, when I left for France. I needed to see her, not for my sake but for hers. She was dying. My mother needed to see her children before she died, even if it was only me." James replied, "Who else knows about this?" Elizabeth said, "Just my mother, Thomas Moore, Elizabeth Darrel, and Lady Eleanor. Thomas and Lady Eleanor are the only people who know about it now. Are you going to tell my father?" James sighed and replied, "No, I am not. I know that if I was in the same situation, I would've done the same. I just wish you had told me about it."

The couple joined each other in a embrace where they stood for what seemed to be an eternity. The couple jumped when a knock sounded on the door. A guard's voice said, "Your Highnesses, Their Majesties requests your presence in the gardens." James let out a sigh in annoyance then turned back to Elizabeth, holding his hand to her. Elizabeth took her husband's hand, smiling.
