The jury soon found Anne guilty of all charges of adultery and incest. She was then sent to the tower where she would be executed. Elizabeth decided that it was in her best interest to allow little Elizabeth to see her mother before she was executed. However, she knew her father wouldn't allow it so she told James and he would be her alibi if something happened. The pregnant princess held her half-sister's hand as they made their way to the tower. A guard stopped her and said to her, "Your Highness, it is not safe for someone with your condition to be here." Elizabeth replied, "I thank you for your concern, sir, but my sister needs to see her mother. Do you not agree that a child should be able to see their mother before she is on death's door?"
Little Elizabeth watched her sister in awe and shocked. She had heard countless times that her older half-sister held a grudge against her mother for taking her father away from her older half-sister's mother. She couldn't blame her, she knew that she would've felt the same. The little princess' thoughts were interrupted when she and the older Elizabeth stopped in front of the cell where Anne was held. Inside the cell, Anne was reading her Holy Bible as she waited to be executed. Her heart crumbled at the thought of her daughter being motherless. The sound of the door opening startled the woman and she turned to see a guard. The guard said, "You have a visitor, Your Majesty."
The guard moved out of the way for Elizabeth to walk in, followed by little Elizabeth. Anne gasped and said, opening her arms for her daughter, "Elizabeth!" Little Elizabeth replied, running into her mother's arms, "Mama!" Elizabeth smiled at the sight and said to Anne, "I thought you would want to see her. Despite our differences, a child should be able to see their mother who is on death's door." Anne replied, "Thank you, Ellie." Elizabeth only nodded and placed her hand on her stomach. Anne said to her stepdaughter, "I wish you luck on your childbirth. It's not easy." Elizabeth nodded and replied, "I know. I have been told that by many midwives and my mother-in-law."
Her eyes soon landed on her half-sister who was still in her mother's arms. The door opened and a guard told them that their time was up. Anne pulled away from the embrace and said to her daughter, "Elizabeth, I want to you to promise me something. You must do what your older sister and Prince James tell you to do. They will be your guardians when I pass." Elizabeth 2nd replied, "Yes, Mama, I promise." Anne said, bringing her daughter into another embrace then kissed the girl's forehead, "That's my girl."
The embrace was short and Anne stood, nudging her daughter towards the older Elizabeth. Elizabeth went to follow her half-sister our but stopped when Anne called her name. Anne said, "Look out for her for me, Elizabeth. *Elizabeth nodded* Another thing, don't make the same mistakes I made when you are Queen of England and France. You need to be stronger than life and show that you are not afraid. Keep your emotions and thoughts to yourself. Only then will you be triumphant." Elizabeth nodded and left the fallen Queen who will soon be executed.
