Not too long after Nicholas' birth, Jane had announced that she was pregnant with her and Henry's child. The announcement was made just right before Christmas and the celebrations of a soon-to-be royal child had begun. James and Elizabeth, along with Nicholas, left for France to visit James' family and so that Nicholas would be introduce to his father's soon-to-be kingdom and French family. Charlotte came along with them so she could be back with her family and search for a husband. Mary stayed behind, claiming that she needed to help with Jane with her pregnancy. As for Elizabeth the 2nd, the older Elizabeth decided that it would be best if she would finally be allowed to go back to court and be with their father. So, she had Lady Caterina stay behind with her and introduce her to court. At Hampton Court, Jane and Mary sat with Henry on their thrones as they enjoyed the celebrations and shared smiles. Henry noticed this and said, teasingly, "Are you ladies conspiring against me?" Jane replied, "We had brought Your Majesty another gift for Christmas, if you allow us." Henry nodded at his wife and second twin daughter. The harold announced, as Elizabeth the 2nd walked in with Lady Caterina by her side, "Your Majesties, the Lady Elizabeth and Lady Caterina."
Henry's eyes widened at the sight of his youngest daughter with the older Elizabeth's lady-in-waiting. Little Elizabeth looked so much like her mother, Anne Boleyn. Lady Elizabeth and Lady Caterina stopped in front of the three royals and curtsied to them. Lady Elizabeth said, in French, "Votre Majeste, ca va?" Henry smiled with pride and replied, also in French, "Ca va bien, ma petite. Qui vous a appris à parler en français?" Lady Elizabeth said, in French, "Son Altesse, la princesse Elizabeth 1er, ma sÅur, Votre Majesté." Henry replied, in English then in French, then adressed the court as he gestured to his wife and daughters, "Come, sit here. Attention." (sets her on his lap and kisses her forehead, making her smile) "Je suis en Famille!" The court applauded while Jane and Mary smiled at each other then at Henry and little Elizabeth. If only the older Elizabeth and James were there with their son, then the royal family would be complete.
In France, Elizabeth stood in front of a long mirror as Lady Eleanor and Lady Mariana rushed to get her ready for the Christmas celebrations. She was so excited to finally be with James' family. Although she was happy to be with her family in England, it had been too long since she had last been with James' siblings and parents. The princess was happy that her first child was born in her homeland but she hoped that the next one would born in their father's homeland. A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts and a guard's voice said, through the door, "They're ready for you, Your Highness." Elizabeth took a deep breath and said to her two ladies, "Is everything ready, Lady Eleanor and Lady Mariana?" Lady Eleanor nodded and replied, "Yes, Your Highness. You are beautiful as always." Elizabeth chuckled and said, "Thank you, Eleanor. Now, you two know my expectations. There shall be no flirting with noblemen, no gossiping with women, or any type of arguments. We are not only representing ourselves as women of importance but we are representing England. If you do either of those, not only will you disappoint me, but you will bring dishonor to England. You may enjoy the celebrations but do try to be respectable women." Lady Eleanor curtsied and replied, "Of course, Your Majesty." She knew that what Elizabeth had said was directed to Lady Mariana since she had the tendency to do all of the above. Elizabeth said, smiling as they left the bedchambers, "Maybe while we're here, we can find you two some worthy husbands."
The three women laughed at Elizabeth's statement but their laughter died down when they reached the French throne room where the Christmas celebrations were held. The French harlod announced, as Elizabeth entered with Lady Eleanor and Lady Mariana behind her, "Her Royal Highness, Princess Elizabeth Tudor of England and France, with her ladies-in-waiting, Lady Eleanor Seymour and Lady Mariana Rochford." King Francis 1st and Queen Claude turned to see their eldest daughter-in-law walk into their throne room and smiled happily. Elizabeth curtsied and said to her parent-in-laws, "It is an honor to be your presences once more, Your Majesties. It has been so long." Francis rose his hand, allowing Elizabeth to rise, and replied, smiling, "Enough of the formalities, the honor is all ours. You are welcome here, my daughter-in-law." The French courtiers all cheered and applauded as Elizabeth rose from her curtsy and was brought into an embrace by Francis. Next to Queen Claude, James smiled at the interaction with his father and wife. Claude smiled at her eldest son and said to him, grabbing his attention, "You have done well, my son. You have married a beautiful, loving wife and managed to have a son. You have given France and England an heir." James smiled at his mother and replied, "I was doing my duty, Mother."
Throughout the celebrations, James and Elizabeth danced with each other as they enjoyed every moment. They were the center of the celebrations while other courtiers danced around them. Francis and Claude also danced with each other but there was tension between them. Claude knew that her husband had taken another mistress but she kept her head held high, knowing that it would soon be like the others. She only hoped that her eldest son wouldn't take any mistress during his marriage with Elizabeth, she couldn't bear it if the young woman was overtaken with grief. The young woman had already lost enough loved ones, the Queen didn't know what would happen if she experienced another heartache. However, all seemed well in the prince and princess' marriage. The two smiled and laughed as they danced to the music and made faces at each other. It all seemed too perfect.
