The christening of Prince Edward was a grand precision, followed by countless celebrations fit for an prince of England. It was just like Elizabeth and Mary's christenings along with little Elizabeth 2nd, who was now six years old, and little Nicholas, now two years old. James' family had came to celebrate, since they were one of many royal families attending. Mary and Duke Nathaniel of Sussex were named Edward's godparents along with Lady Eleanor and the Duke of Hartford. Elizabeth stood next to James, who held Nicholas in his arms, as the small family watched the newborn prince being christened. Her father and Jane weren't in attendance due to tradition. Soon, the small family followed the precision to the royal bedchambers where Jane sat on the bed with her royal garments on with Henry standing next to her. Mary held her half-brother in her arms as she walked over to the her sister's close friend, with her husband behind her, and gently passed Edward over to Jane. Elizabeth smiled when Jane took Edward in her arms and kissed his forehead. This reminded the princess a lot of her son's and half sister's christening. The only thing that seemed to worry her was the possibility of her father giving her title as Princess of Wales to Edward as Prince of Wales. Once the precision was finished and Edward was taken to the royal nursery along with his older half sister and nephew, Elizabeth decided to pull her father aside so she could speak with him. Henry held his daughter's arm in his own and said to her, noticing the thoughtful look on her face, "What's on your mind, my precious jewel?" Elizabeth turned to her father and replied, "I don't want to upset you, Papa. I hope you won't be disappointed when I say what I am thinking." Henry said, with confusion, "Why would I be upset or disappointed with you, my precious jewel? You have fulfilled your duty to this family." Elizabeth took a deep breath and and replied, "Well, now that you have a son, I have been thinking about my title. When you have a son, he is supposed to have the title as Prince of Wales. As of right now, that title belongs to me." Henry chuckled and said, "You have no need to worry, Elizabeth. Princess of Wales belongs to you and you alone. Edward will only share the title as Prince of Wales in the eyes of the people but he will, in reality, be the Duke of York." Elizabeth let out a sight of relief and replied, "Thank you, Papa." Henry smiled then brought his eldest daughter into an embrace.
The moment was interrupted when one of Jane's ladies-in-waiting came running towards the King and his daughter with fear all over her face. She curtsied to them and said to them, "Your Majesty, Your Highness. It's the Queen, she's bleeding again." Elizabeth gasped, picking up the hem of her dress, and ran towards the royal bedchambers. Henry turned to look at the lady-in-waiting then followed after his daughter. Elizabeth bursted into the bedchamber to find her close friend in pain and rushed over to her. She said to the physician, "What happened?" The physician replied, "Her Majesty has childbed fever. I fear that she may not last night." Elizabeth held back a sob, she was going to loose another loved one but to natural causes. The princess took her close friend's hand into hers and whispered, "Please, dear God, don't take her from us. Edward needs his mother." Jane heard Elizabeth's voice and said, softly with pain, "Elizabeth?" Elizabeth nodded and replied, "Yes, Jane. It's me." Jane said to her, "The time has come for me to go. You must promise me to always look after Edward, with Mary. Mary will be his guardian now but she will need help. Do you promise me?" Elizabeth nodded and replied, "Yes, I promise." Jane said, as she shakingly gave Elizabeth her mother's crucifix, "Your mother gave this to me when I was a lady-in-waiting to her before Anne. She told me that she wanted her daughters to have it when she would no longer be with them." Elizabeth gently took the crucifix into her hands and had a lady-in- waiting bring her siblings there so they could say their final goodbyes.
Awhile later, Mary walked in with little Elizabeth by her side and little Edward in her arms. A nursemaid followed behind, holding little Nicholas' hand. Nicholas spotted his mother and said, running over to her, "Mama!" Elizabeth smiled when she heard her son calling for her and said, kneeling down to bring her arms, "Nicholas, my beautiful boy!" Jane smiled at the sight between her stepdaughter and step-grandson. Her attention turned when Mary came over to her and passed her son to her. Jane held her son in her arms and whispered, with pain and sorrow in her voice, "My precious boy. God has called me to his side and I will no longer be with you. You must always be good and kind to others. Listen to your sisters and father for they will be your guardians and guide you to your place as King one day. I will always be with you." Seeing that her hold on Edward was slipping and getting weak, Mary stepped forward and gently took her half-brother into her arms. She then passed him over to Lady Jane Rochford. Upon hearing the news of his step-mother-in-law's illnesses, James burst into the bedchamber and rushed over to his wife's side. The royal family could only watch in horror and sadness as Jane took her last breath. This death will change history and a new era will come.
