A week later, just as the physician had said, Elizabeth was well and up on her feet again, thanks to Catherine's care and love. Henry, however, couldn't be pleased so he made sure that his eldest daughter had the best care and was given taste testers. With the preparations of the summit going underway, Elizabeth and Mary were being taught the ways of how to greet foreign royalty. The two girls were giggling at Lady Bryan at her expression of Queen Claude while Thomas Moore was King Francis. Two of their ladies-in-waiting were demonstrating how to greet them. The herald announced, putting the lesson on pause, "The Duke of Suffolk!" Charles Brandon, the Duke of Suffolk, walked into the room and bowed to the two princesses and their governess and tutor. He said to them, "The royal family of France and their company have arrived and His Majesty would like everyone to join him in greeting them." Lady Bryan rushed over to the princesses and made sure that they were well presented. They were taken to a carriage that was waiting for them to take them to where Elizabeth would greet her betrothal.
It was a great procession, not only was it the first time where King Henry VIII and King Francis 1 would come face to face, it was where Elizabeth would finally be able to meet Prince James of France, the six year old son of King Francis 1 and Queen Claude of France. He is the eldest of three children, eldest of his two brothers and sister, with another sibling on the way. Henry and Francis were sat at a long table, surrounded by both of their courts and their wives. Catherine and Claude sat next to each other, deep in conversation. Next to Catherine was Mary, with one of her mother's ladies-in-waiting's hands on her shoulders. The horns blared, sounding the arrival of Princess Elizabeth and Prince James. Henry could only smile with pride as his daughter, at the hand of Lady Bryan, made her way to the table. Catherine's smile matched Henry's as she watched her eldest daughter. Elizabeth was helped onto the table by her governess and met her betrothal in the middle, in front of her father and Francis. The girl curtsied low to the French prince and said to him, "Your Grace." Prince James of France stood in front of a girl, who held the blood of the greatest monarchs in history in her veins. He bowed to the girl and replied, "My lady." Elizabeth rose from the curtsy and gave him her hand. James only stared at the hand for a few moments before bringing it to his lips, placing a gentle kiss. Henry grinned and applauded the gestural between the young children. Everyone else followed in suite, as the two royal children descended from the table.
