Promise
Bei Shuo slept until dawn.
She was woken up by the heat. She kicked the blanket away and stretched, but she accidentally touched Mu Ciâs face.
Bei Shuo hurriedly sat up and met Mu Ciâs smiling eyes.
âBrother Stone, are you awake?â Bei Shuo was pleasantly surprised.
Mu Ci stood up slowly and smiled at Bei Shuo. âThank you for your hard work.â
Bei Shuo immediately placed her hand on Mu Ciâs wrist. She held his breath and checked his pulse. Her expression was even more surprising. âLetâs try and get off the bed, shall we?â
Mu Ci was stunned.
Bei Shuo jumped off the bed and said firmly, âBrother Stone, be brave. Come!â
Under Bei Shuoâs gaze, Mu Ci hesitantly moved to the side of the bed and stood up with Bei Shuoâs help. The carpet was very soft. This was his first feeling. At the same time, his heart could not help but tremble.
Were his feet really able to sense something?
Bei Shuo stood two or three steps in front of him and extended her hand to encourage him.
Mu Ci subconsciously took a step forward. He was stunned!
Another step followed by yet another one!
He looked at Bei Shuo in disbelief. Bei Shuoâs smile was as bright as a spring flower.
Mu Ci walked stiffly towards Bei Shuo.
His legs had not been used for many years. Mu Ci tripped and fell forward. Bei Shuo quickly went to help him, but she could not withstand Mu Ciâs weight. The two of them fell onto the thick and soft carpet.
Bei Shuo pressed under him, but Bei Shuo laughed. âAre you happy? Brother Stone, you can walk now, but you need practice.â
Mu Ci hurriedly moved his body away, afraid that he would crush Bei Shuo. However, the ecstasy in his heart made him prop himself up and hug Bei Shuo in his arms. He said in a trembling voice, âReally! I can walk now!â
Bei Shuo smiled and nodded.
Mu Ci reached out and hugged Bei Shuo. He buried his head in her neck. After a long time, he said softly, âBei Shuo, donât leave me.â
Bei Shuo could hear the sadness in his voice. She patted his back and smiled. âI donât have a home anymore. Brother Mu Ci, please take me in.â
Mu Ci composed himself. He flipped over, lay down on the carpet, and held Bei Shuoâs hand. âAlright, itâs a deal! Weâll be together forever!â
Bei Shuoâs expression became serious. âThen Brother Mu Ci, you have to promise me that youâll accept proper treatment! Six months doesnât count as a lifetime, okay? It has to be for as long as I live.â
Tears welled up in Mu Ciâs eyes.
He still had half a year. The entire family knew about this. He was already numb to his grandfatherâs sighing and the indifference of his parents, brothers, and relatives.
Other than his grandfather, no one cared about his life or death. In fact, they might even hope for his death.
This time, he truly felt that he was needed.
Bei Shuo said angrily, âI donât know which quack came up with this conclusion. How did he determine that you still have half a year to live? Send him over. I will need to give him a piece of my mind!â
Mu Ci raised his hand and brushed Bei Shuoâs hair to her ear. He said calmly, âItâs not important anymore.â
He sat up and tried his best to push himself up. Bei Shuo helped him up. âBrother Stone, donât be anxious. The effects of the Snow Pill have taken effect, but your body has been sick for too long. It wonât recover in a short period of time. Other than giving you daily medicine, acupuncture, and massage, you have to train yourself to recover your muscles. However, in less than a month, you will definitely be able to recover like a normal person.â
Mu Ci held Bei Shuoâs hand and stood up straight. His gaze became firm. âAlright! I will definitely listen to you!â
He took a tentative step forward and walked back to the bed. Bei Shuo gently held his arm. The short walk made Mu Ci sweat slightly.
Bei Shuo told Mu Ci about what had happened in the past two days. She hesitated for a moment and said, âIâve studied the usual food you eat and your eating habits have to change. The dishes you liked in the past are all harmful to your illness. When it comes to treatment, 30% of it depends on medicine, the rest is up to nourishment. No matter how good the medicine is, it canât compare to nourishment. Similarly, no matter how good the medicine is, if the diet works against it, the effect will be greatly reduced. It might even conflict with the meds.â
Mu Ci was stunned. A thousand thoughts flashed through his mind.
In the end, he did not say anything. He smiled and said, âBei Shuo, the food you make is delicious. Can you cook for me from now on?â
Bei Shuo nodded and patted her chest. âOf course! My master and senior brothers are full of praise for my culinary skills! Iâll be in charge of your food in the future!â
