Chapter 134: Discuss 134 Chapter 134: Discuss 134 He Xing sighed, not because of the difficulty of the problem, but because solving it required painstaking effort and time, which was really what troubled him the most.
The cold night wind blew over, and He Xing tightened his sleeves before taking out his phone to send a message to Fu Han, âXiaohan, there are still some issues at the company that havenât been settled. I might need to stay here a few more days. Take care of yourself in H City.â
After sending the message, he didnât expect a reply from Fu Han. She had never replied before.
To his surprise, just as he was about to put his phone back into his pocket, it buzzed with a message. He looked down and saw it was actually from Fu Han.
Immense joy flooded He Xingâs heart. His hands were trembling as he opened the message.
Fu Hanâs message was brief, âGot it, same to you.â
This message, even with punctuation, didnât even reach ten words, but He Xing read it over and over, his smile growing wider and wider until he laughed out loud. He couldnât remember the last time he had felt so happy.
Although Fu Hanâs words were cold, it was clear she was showing concern for him. It was a milestone step.
In order to finish his work and return to H City as soon as possible, He Xing started living at the company, taking care of all his daily needs within its premises.
It took an entire two days before He Xing walked out of He Groupâs main entrance for the first time.
The Lamborghini weaved through the spacious roads of A City. Trees on both sides were adorned with large red lanterns, many shops decorated in celebration with Chinese knots, character âFuâ stickers, and a palpable atmosphere of the upcoming New Year.
He Xing thought for a moment and then dialed a number; it was to the He Familyâs butler, Old Zhou, who also served as the personal servant to the elder Mr. He.
The call connected quickly, and Old Zhouâs excited voice rang out with vigor, âYoung Master, what can I do for you? The old master is in good health; rest assured. He just misses you and Miss Fu very much. He wonders when you could bring Miss Fu back home for a visit.â
He Xing had always called Old Zhou to inquire about the elder Mr. Heâs condition, which is why Old Zhou began reporting proactively whenever he answered the phone.
He Xing, already with a gentle expression, softened even more, âIâll bring Fu Han home for the New Year. Uncle Zhou, please have someone clean up the house, buy more Chinese knots, red lanterns, and character âFuâ stickers. Make the home look more festive.â
âYes, Young Master,â Old Zhouâs voice noticeably excited, âThis will be Miss Fuâs first New Year at home. I will make sure the house is tidy and proper.â
âMm,â He Xingâs eyes shone even brighter, rivaling the sun hanging overhead.
Liang Tao, sitting in the passenger seat, noticed He Xingâs good mood and took the opportunity to say, âPresident He, the designer for Miss Fuâs necklace sent the initial draft to your email. Please have a look when you get the chance.â
âWhen was this?â He Xing frowned, puzzled as he looked at Liang Tao.
âTwo days ago,â Liang Tao guiltily lowered his head, thoughtfully crafting a perfect excuse for He Xing, âPresident He, youâve been so busy these past few days. Itâs normal not to have seen the email. The designer just politely reminded me once, thatâs all.â
âWhy didnât you remind me immediately?â each of He Xingâs words came down like a hammer, pounding on Liang Tao, more exaggerated than a bolt from the blue.
The temperature inside the car plummeted, overwhelming pressure surging from all directions like a tide, causing beads of sweat to stream down Liang Taoâs cheeks.
He swallowed hard, lowering his voice, âPresident He, I apologize. It wonât happen again.â
âIf there is a next time, you will resign on your own initiative,â He Xing coldly huffed and said, âEverything related to Fu Han is of the utmost importance. You must tell me immediately.â
âYes, President He,â Liang Tao responded loud and clear, his back soaked with sweat in the cold wind.
The car stopped near a luxurious mall not far from He Group. He Xing tossed the keys to Liang Tao and stepped out first with his briefcase in hand.
The quaint cafe had a few customers scattered around; some were working, some reading, others watching series on their laptops.
The gramophone was turning, pouring out nameless music slowly, tangling with the brilliant afternoon light, lazy and comfortable, tempting one to slow down involuntarily.
He Xing stared at the gramophone for a moment, lost in thought. There was also a smaller gramophone in Fu Hanâs hotel room.
Fu Hanâs room was his choice, and He Xing had liked that gramophone at first sight, but he had not expected that Fu Han would bring records with her, completely unaware, a unique sort of tacit understanding.
That night, their candlelit dinner was accompanied by the music from the gramophone. Fu Hanâs attitude was lukewarm, and He Xing didnât enjoy it very much. But looking back now, he found an angry Fu Han to be so dynamic and vibrant, not cold and aloof.
âPresident He, over here!â
A clear male voice called out, interrupting He Xingâs thoughts.
He looked in the direction of the voice; in less than a second, his smile vanished, replaced by an icy coldness.
He Xing approached leisurely and extended his hand toward the seated man, âDirector Yi, long time no see.â
Yi Lixing, beaming with smiles, stood up to shake hands with He Xing, âIndeed, itâs been a while since weâve seen each other, President He. You seem a bit haggard. Is something bothering you?â
âNot at all,â He Xing sat down, gesturing for the waiter to bring him a cup of Blue Mountain Coffee. He leaned back in his chair and looked at Yi Lixing, âDirector Yi, do you have something in mind by asking me out?â
âNothing of much importance,â Yi Lixing stirred his coffee, having opted for an iced coffee despite the winter chill. As he stirred, the ice cubes clinked against the glass, a crisp sound that, for some reason, felt unnerving.
His eyes, snake-like, fixed on He Xing as he drawled, âI heard that He Group has run into some trouble, so I sought you out to see if thereâs anything I could help with.â
He Xingâs long eyelashes fluttered slightly, sunlight turning them golden. He looked at Yi Lixing impassively, his thin lips barely moving, âAnd how does Director Yi plan on helping me?â
A gleam of joy flashed through Yi Lixingâs eyes, his left hand on the table stirring slightly, as he tried to maintain composure, âThe current issue with He Group could be a major or minor one, but for the person handling it, itâs hardly an issue at all. Resolving it would just take a matter of minutes.â
âAre you suggesting I engage in bribery?â He Xingâs smile curved, halfway between there and not, a look on his face which was more terrifying than an outright frown.
