"Are you really watching Tik Toks again?" Jess whines as she walks into the living room.
"Hey, they're addictive," I defend myself. I have to admit, I have probably watched an unhealthy amount by now, but that wasn't going to stop me. I've only posted like two videos, but they haven't got any more than maybe like 100 likes...and the majority of those likes were from creepy old men on the app.
"Well you need to stop watching them," she advises. Just as I scroll down, Jess snatches my phone right out of my hands as she passed by on her way into the kitchen. I spring to my feet, ready to get my phone back into my possession. But when I turn around to take it back from Jess, I see that she was already in the kitchen, looking through my phone.
"Ooh, let's go through your texts with Harry," Jess says just to taunt me, "There's probably something juicy in there."
I didn't mind that she went through my texts with Harry. I mean, we see each other all the time. And because we don't text very often, there wouldn't be anything dirty in there for her to read anyway.
"Aww, he sent you a heart," Jess gushes from the kitchen, causing me to roll my eyes. "What the hell?! You left him on read?!" I turn around to see her shaking her head in disappointment.
For her information, I didn't leave Harry on read, the conversation was over. I was at the store and asked if he needed anything. He said no and the conversation was done. I talked to him as soon as I got home.
"Well let's just respond, shall we?" She mumbles, readjusting the way she held my phone. My eyes widen. "Harry, I want your..."
As she continues to read out the rest of what she was typing, I climb over the back of the couch before running up to her. Just as I was about to grab my phone from her, she holds it above her head, her tall frame making it almost impossible for me to reach.
"Jess, stop!" I plead, jumping up and down as I try to get my phone back from her.
"Why should I?" She challenges, raising an eyebrow. It angered me how much enjoyment she was getting from this.
"Because," I stop jumping, folding my arms, "that would be so evil of you."
After a moment, Jess's smirk drops and she rolls her eyes, letting out a sigh of defeat. "Fine."
I also let out a sigh, relieved that she hadn't sent him the text she was typing out. She lowers the phone slowly, but as I reach up to grab it, she heightens it again.
"Wait," she says and I roll my eyes, my annoyance raising. "Why should I give it back?"
"Um, because it's my phone."
"That's fair," she agrees, nodding. Once again, she lowers the phone, but I learn from my mistake and don't reach for it. "But first..." she says. Then, just as I was about to grab the phone, she presses send.
"Jess," I shriek in horror, ripping the phone from her grip. I stare down at my phone in disbelief. She sent the text...she really sent it. "Why would you do this?!" I snap my head up to look at her, embarrassment filling my veins.
"Oh relax," she rolls her eyes, "Why are you getting so worked up?"
"He's upstairs on a call with his manager right now," I inform her, trying to keep my voice down, even though I wanted to yell at her more than anything. "What do you think is gonna go through his mind when he reads that?"
"Well, I have a few ideas..." She smirks and I swat her arm. It bothered me how calm she was about this. It was like she did feel bad at all.
"Jessica Lee!" I snap, my blood beginning to boil. I felt embarrassed.
"Oh don't tell me you haven't talked to Harry like that before." She squints her eyes as she accuses me.
"No." I shake my head. "No, I haven't. Not a single time. Because what you just wrote makes me insanely uncomfortable, so I can't even begin to imagine how it made him feel."
"Shit," Jess says, looking taken back. "Sorry, I-I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I was just trying to be funny."
"Well it wasn't funny," I say. "Harry's pretty much portrayed as a sex symbol and I don't want to make him feel like I'm putting him into that category too."
This was something Harry had mentioned to me the other day and I looked into it. Apparently the sex symbol status he's been given makes him really uncomfortable. Which I totally understand, considering he's pretty much held that title since he was sixteen. I can only imagine what this man has had to deal with.
"Lils," Jess says in a soft voice, "I'm sorry. I really wasn't trying to upset you...literally at least. I knew you'd be flustered about it for a minute, but I thought Harry would be like 'What the hell?' And then we would just laugh it off together."
I knew her apology was sincere, but I was still bothered. And I also knew that this would all pass and we will probably look back at it and laugh. But for right now I was angry...and I had the right to be.
"I would never do anything to actually upset you." She frowns and I could see the guilt in her eyes.
"I know you wouldn't. It's just..." I sigh. "I think it's a sensitive topic for him. I may be his girlfriend but I don't want to do anything to make him upset...just like you wouldn't want me to be upset."
"I understand that now." She nods slowly. "Now I know. Thank you for telling me."
"Thank you for apologizing and understanding."
This was how our arguments go. We promised each other a long time ago that we would never freak out on the other during an argument...unless it was a big deal. We both decided that if we were mature enough to live together alone, we were mature enough to get through arguments in a calm way. Things were a little rough the first year or so of living here, so that's why we did that.
I don't want to say this wasn't a big deal, but it wasn't a big enough deal to cause a friendship-ending fight over.
Jess lets out a sigh of annoyance. "I need to pee. I'll be back."
She rolls her eyes as she walks away, disappearing into the small powder room right next to the kitchen. Just as the door closes, I hear heavy footsteps descending down the stairs.
Within a matter of seconds, Harry's entering the kitchen, phone in his hand, and confused look on his face. He stops as soon as his eyes land on me and we stand there, staring at each other. He points to his phone, confusion still over his features.
"You uhm...want my..." He clears his throat. "So deep inside you, it comes out of your throat?"
I feel my cheeks heat up immediately and I felt like dropping dead right there.
"T-That wasn't me," I mumble, shaking my head vigorously.
"Well it came from your contact," he tells me looking down at his phone, "And, that I know of, I don't have anyone else named Lili in my phone. None with a heart by it at least." A smirk tugs on his lips.
"No, I mean..." I sigh, getting frustrated that I was the one who had to explain the text. "It was from my phone, but it wasn't me." I hear the toilet flush, then running water from the bathroom.
"Then who was it?" As of right on cue, the bathroom door opens. Jess's eyes land on Harry and she tries to sneak away, but I wasn't going to let her get away that easily.
"Jessica," I say sternly, eyeing her down. She stops in her tracks, slowly turning on her heel to face me. "Get over here." Her shoulders slump and she begins to walk my way. Harry turns to look at her, probably more confused now than before. "Would you like to explain the text you sent to Mr. Styles?"
She gives me a dirty look before turning to Harry.
"If you received an erotic text," she says bluntly, "it was from me. I don't want your dick shoved so deep inside me that it comes out of my throat. And neither does Lili. Well..." She looks over at me, expecting me to disagree. I swat her on the arm. "Alright, alright. I'm very sorry Harry and it won't happen again. From me, at least."
"It's fine." He shrugs. "I was just really confused."
"Well, it was me," Jess admits once again before shrugging and walking away, leaving Harry and I standing here alone.
"Sorry about that." I close my eyes, shaking my head.
He chuckles. "No worries." There's a short pause until he speaks up again. "We need to start planning your birthday," he changes the subject.
"I'm going to leave that to you and Jess."
"But there are details I need to know. Like what kind of cake you want, your favorite ice cream flavor, what your favorite color is... Details Lili, details."
"Anything but funfetti. Chocolate fudge or cookie dough. Lavender or red," I say quickly.
"Wait," he holds a finger up as he unlocks his phone, "I need to write this all down."
I chuckle fondly. "Jess knows it all, just leave it up to her. Just please don't invite anyone. Just the four of us will be more than enough."
"The four of us?" Harry's eyes widen.
"Jackson," I remind him and he lets out a sigh.
"Okay." He nods. "No extra guests...got it."
"Thank you." I stand on my tiptoes to give his cheek a quick peck.
