Talia
Today is Beckham's birthday and tomorrow is our wedding! Everything is ready so today we just get to celebrate his twenty-first birthday starting with breakfast at his parents' house.
I had gotten there early to help Maria prepare. We made eggs, bacon, toast, and pancakes. Well, Maria did. It turns out I suck at cooking. Maria however did not and all the food smelled delicious.
I was setting the last plate on the table when Beckham came in. I ran over to him and jumped into his arms.
"Happy birthday!" I exclaimed.
"Thank you," he said with a chuckle.
I led Beckham over to the table where his parents were seated.
"This looks great you guys," he said to me and his mother.
"Oh, I didn't do anything. I'm really bad at cooking."
"That's not true!" Maria said. "Well the cooking part is, but you were a great help."
The four of us shared a laugh and then began serving food.
"Oh! I almost forgot!" Maria exclaimed and rushed back into the kitchen.
When she came back she had a bowl in her hands.
"I heard these are your favorite," she said.
"Strawberries?" I asked hopefully.
Maria nodded and I squealed in excitement. I love strawberries.
"I think she might love those more than she loves me," Beck joked.
"Of course not," I said and playfully shoved Beck's chest. "Just almost as much."
We all laughed and began to eat. My meal consisted mostly of strawberries. I hardly left any for anyone else to eat. That's how much I love them.
"I heard you gave Tyler quite the hard time yesterday," Alexander said and my eyes widened.
"Oh, it was the best," Beck chuckled. "You should've seen it."
"Maybe Talia should be our new Captain."
"Too late. She's already going to be Queen."
Alexander and Beckham shared a laugh and Maria said she was proud of me. I was appalled that they approved of me hitting Tyler and swiftly moved the conversation along.
At the end of the meal, Beckham hugged his parents goodbye and they presented him with his gift. It was a new horse. I felt like my gift was kind of lame in comparison, but pushed that thought away. I knew Beckham would appreciate it just because it came from me.
"Come on," I said and led Beckham away from his parents' house.
"Where are we going?" He asked me.
"Wouldn't you like to know?"
Beck laughed and let me lead him to our mystery location in the middle of the woods.
"What are we doing here?" Beck asked.
"I'm giving you your birthday gift," I chirped.
"In the middle of the woods?"
I nodded and gave Beck a peck on the lips. "Wait here."
I went off to the place I hid Beckham's gift and hid it behind my back. I was nervous that Beckham wouldn't like it, but I pushed those thoughts away and presented him with his gift; a set of throwing knives.
"These are great!" Beck said, examining the blades I had specially made for him.
"Really? You like them?"
"Of course! And my other knives are old and rusty anyways. These are gorgeous."
I sighed in relief. I was so glad Beck liked my gift. I'd told the swordsmith to make them perfect no matter the cost. And the cost was quite large.
"Would you like to learn how to use these?" Beck asked me.
"Really?" I asked.
"Come here."
Beck showed me the position to throw the blade in. I missed the target he'd carved into a tree the first several times, but after a while and lots of help from Beck, I started getting the hang of it.
"I like these," I told Beck.
"I thought you might. We'll have to get you some."
I smiled up at Beckham and led him to the next portion of his birthday celebration. We had just enough time before we had to go to his birthday feast at the palace.
"Now for your real gift!" I announced.
"I thought the knives were my gift."
"I think you'll like this one even better. We are going for a run! And I'll even run the whole time!"
Beck gave me a knowing look.
"I'm serious!"
"Ok..." Beck said skeptically.
We took off at a jog to get warmed up. After half a mile Beck picked up the pace and I struggled to keep up with him. By the end of the second mile I wanted to die, but this was for Beck. And besides, I wanted to show him that I could do it.
So I pushed through and made it all three miles before collapsing in the grass.
"I did it," I panted out.
"That you did," Beck said laying down next to me. "I'm proud of you Sunshine."
I blushed. I loved it when he called me his sunshine.
Beck and I laid in the sun for a while before it was time to get ready for dinner. I groaned when I got up and Beck chuckled. He easily lifted me into his arms and carried me back to my chambers. I wrapped my arms around my neck and rested my head on his chest.
"I still did it," I murmured.
"I know Sunshine," Beck said and kissed my head.
When we got back to my room, Beck had to leave to go get ready. Luckily, my bath was ready so I could sink right into the hot water. I moaned as the pain in my muscles was soothed.
"What happened to you?" Lina asked.
"I ran the whole three miles," I told them.
"Without Prince Beckham having to carry you back?" Anna asked.
"Don't sound so shocked!"
Lina and I laughed and soon Anna joined in. Honestly, I was a little shocked too. I hate running. But I did it. And now I deeply regret it.
The time to get out of the bath came all to soon, but I had to get ready for Beck's feast.
I wore a soft pink gown that Beck helped me pick out. It was off the shoulder and had flowers on the bodice. It was quite lovely.
As per usual my hair and makeup was flawless. Anna and Lina make a great team.
"You look beautiful," Anna said.
"Thanks to you guys."
We all giggled and chatted for a bit until there was a knock at the door and Beckham walked in. He was wearing his princely attire that I loved so much. His suit fit him perfectly and had badges showing his accomplishments. He looked so handsome.
"Are you ready Sunshine?" Beck asked.
I nodded and took the arm he offered me. We walked into the dining hall together and took a seat at the table for the royal family.
Alexander made a quick speech and toast and the dinner was served.
"Are you feeling better?" Beck asked softly. It was meant for just me, but Maria heard too.
"What's wrong? Are you unwell?"
The worry in her voice made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.
"Yes," I sighed. "I went running and now I'm dying."
"She did great," Beck said and gave me a kiss of the head which of course made me blush.
"You two are just so cute," Maria gushed and my face got even more red.
"Mother, you're making Talia uncomfortable."
I blushed even more if that was possible.
"So, it was a nice day out," Alexander changed the conversation and I sent him a grateful look. He just nodded his head and moved the conversation along.
After my awkward moment, the rest of dinner went really well and now that we had said goodbye to all the guests, Beck and I got to leave.
We stopped outside the door to my room and Beck kissed me goodnight. He'd been staying in my room, but per tradition, tonight he couldn't so we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.
"Goodnight future wife," Beck said.
"Goodnight future husband."
