Secrets, Sarcasm, and Some Sparks

✿♡♡♡✿

The morning sun streamed into Meera’s room as Ayaan barged in, carrying a tray of tea and biscuits.

“Good morning, Di! Aaj ka gossip session shuru karen?” he chirped, sitting at the edge of her bed.

Meera groaned, pulling the blanket over her head. “Ayaan, tumhe aur koi kaam nahi hai kya?”

“Kya karoon? Tumhari life mein itna drama hai ki mera bore hona impossible hai,” he teased.

Meera peeked out from under the blanket. “Drama? Tumhara matlab hai kal ke dinner ke baad ka scene?”

“Obviously!” Ayaan exclaimed. “Aur waise bhi, mujhe lagta hai Captain Kapoor ka chapter tumhare life mein ab zyada frequent hone wala hai.”

“Shut up, Ayaan,” Meera muttered, throwing a pillow at him.

Downstairs, her mother called out, “Meera! Jaldi tayaar ho jao. School mein parent-teacher meeting hai. Tumhe chhodne bhi jaana hai!”

-----

Aarav sipped his coffee, scrolling through his phone when Ishika entered the room with a sly grin.

“Kya dekh rahe ho, Bhai? Sharma ji ke Instagram stories?” she teased.

Aarav didn’t bother looking up. “No, Ishika. Tum kabhi kaam ki baat karogi?”

“Haan, ek kaam ki baat hai,” she replied dramatically. “PTM ke baad Sharma ji ke saath lunch plan kar lo Family bonding ke liye.”

“Tumhara sense of humor har din worse hota ja raha hai,” Aarav said, shaking his head.

“Wait and watch, Bhai. Sparks are flying,” Ishika said, winking before leaving the room.

---------------------------------------------------

The school auditorium buzzed with chatter as parents exchanged pleasantries and students tried to avoid their teachers’ stares. Meera stood by the entrance, fidgeting with her dupatta.

“Aaj ka din boring hone wala hai,” she muttered to herself.

Before she could escape unnoticed, Aarav entered, his presence commanding as always. He wore a white shirt and jeans, his usual composed expression intact.

“Kya baat hai, Sharma ji? Nervous?” Aarav asked, smirking.

“Bilkul nahi!” Meera shot back. “Aap kyun aaye ho?”

“Principal ne parents ke saath mujhse bhi baat karni hai. Apparently, main ‘role model’ hoon,” he replied sarcastically.

Their conversation was interrupted by Priyanka, who arrived with her parents. Her glare towards Meera was nothing short of venomous.

“Wow, Sharma ji,” Priyanka sneered. “Aarav ke saath yahan bhi spotlight lene aa gayi ho?”

Meera rolled her eyes. “Priyanka, tumhara obsession mujhe samajh nahi aata. Tumhare paas kuch aur kaam nahi hai kya?”

Before Priyanka could retort, Aarav intervened. “Priyanka, tumhare comments se zyada PTM ke results important hain. Focus on those.”

Priyanka huffed and stormed off, leaving Aarav and Meera to exchange an amused glance.

-----

The meeting proceeded smoothly until the principal’s announcement:

“As a token of appreciation for the cultural event, we’ve decided to feature the top performers in a promotional video for our school!”

The auditorium broke into applause as the principal continued, “Aarav Kapoor and Meera Sharma will be leading this initiative!”

Meera’s jaw dropped. Aarav, however, looked mildly amused.

“Great,” Meera muttered. “Aur drama chahiye tha meri life mein.”

“Sharma ji, tumhari reaction priceless hai,” Aarav said, chuckling.

As the meeting concluded, Meera’s mother couldn’t help but gush. “Aarav beta, tum dono ka video toh school ki shaan banega!”

“Thank you, Aunty,” Aarav replied politely.

Meera groaned internally. This was going to be a long week.

---------------------------------------------------

The next day, the school auditorium transformed into a makeshift film set. Meera arrived early, dressed in a simple blue kurta. Aarav arrived shortly after, his black jacket adding to his effortless charm.

The director clapped his hands. “Alright, guys, the concept is simple. A romantic musical montage featuring our star performers. Chemistry is key!”

Meera felt her cheeks heat up, while Aarav raised an eyebrow. “Romantic montage? Seriously?”

“Yes!” the director said enthusiastically. “Trust me, it’ll be perfect.”

The first scene involved Meera and Aarav exchanging playful glances while walking through the school corridors. Meera tried to focus, but Aarav’s teasing comments made it nearly impossible.

“Tumhe seriously lagta hai tum blush nahi kar rahi ho?” Aarav whispered during a break.

“Shut up,” Meera muttered, avoiding his gaze.

The final shot required them to share a moment by the window, with Aarav gently brushing Meera’s hair out of her face. The director insisted on capturing their “natural chemistry.”

“Ready?” Aarav asked softly, his tone surprisingly serious.

Meera nodded, trying to steady her breathing. As Aarav leaned in for the shot, his hand brushing against her cheek, she couldn’t ignore the sudden flutter in her chest.

“Cut!” the director called, beaming. “Perfect shot!”

Meera stepped back quickly, her face flushed. Aarav’s smirk returned. “Good teamwork, Sharma ji.”

-----

As the day ended, Aarav and Meera walked towards the parking lot.

“Tum sach mein natural ho,” Aarav teased.

Meera rolled her eyes. “Aur aap sach mein annoying ho.”

“You are something, Sharma ,” Aarav said, his voice softer than usual.

“And you are nothing, Captain Serious,” Meera replied, her lips curving into an involuntary smile.

As she watched him walk away, Meera couldn’t help but feel that something was changing. Hidden beneath the sarcasm and banter, there was something real—something she wasn’t quite ready to admit yet.

---------------------------------------------------

The buzz of the morning assembly filled the air as students gathered in the school courtyard. Meera stood with her classmates, laughing at something her friend Ankit said. Aarav watched from afar, standing with Kabir and the rest of the football team. His gaze lingered on Meera, who looked radiant in her neatly pressed school uniform and braided hair.

"Yeh us ladke ke saath itna kya hans rahi hai?" Aarav muttered under his breath.

Kabir, catching Aarav’s line of sight, smirked. “Woh Ankit hai … suna hai Meera ke group mein kaafi popular hai, aur bhul mat Teri hi football team me hai.”

Aarav shot him a look. “Tujhe toh bas gossip karna hota hai.”

Kabir chuckled. “But start to tune hi kiya tha aur gossip nahi, bhai. Tujhe bas problem ho rahi hai ki Meera Sharma kisi aur ke saath khush hai.”

“Shut up, Kabir,” Aarav snapped, trying to focus on the principal’s speech, though his clenched fists gave away his irritation.

Later that day,

-----

Aarav was walking past the chemistry lab when he overheard laughter. Peeking inside, he saw Meera and Ankit working together on an experiment. She was laughing uncontrollably as Ankit dramatically explained the concept of "covalent bonding" by pretending to propose to her with a test tube in hand.

“Miss Meera Sharma,” Ankit said, bowing theatrically, “tum meri covalent bond banogi?”

Meera burst out laughing, playfully hitting him on the arm. “Ankit, tum na bilkul pagal ho!”

Aarav, who had stopped at the door, gritted his teeth. “Covalent bond? Really? Aur aj Aman aur Riya nhi aye to kya ye is ladke se hi chipki rahegi ” he muttered to himself.

As if sensing his presence, Meera looked up. Their eyes met, and her smile faltered for a second before she waved at him. “Captain Kapoor! Idhar kya kar rahe hai aap?”

“Just passing by,” Aarav replied coolly, stepping into the lab. His sharp gaze landed on Ankit. “Experiment khatam ho gaya ho toh teacher ko dikha do. Time waste mat karo.”

Ankit blinked, a bit taken aback. “Uh, haan, Aarav bhaiya.”

Meera raised an eyebrow. “Aap itne serious kyu ho rahe ho? Relax, Captain Kapoor!”

“I’m relaxed,” Aarav said flatly before walking out, leaving Meera staring after him, puzzled.

-----

Later that evening, Aarav found himself in the library, trying to focus on his studies. Meera walked in with Ankit, carrying a stack of books. They settled at a table near Aarav’s, completely unaware of his presence.

As they worked on a project, Aarav couldn’t help but overhear their conversation.

“Tumhara handwriting kitna accha hai, Meera,” Ankit said, leaning closer to her.

“Really? Mujhe toh normal lagta hai,” Meera replied, flipping through a notebook.

“Not again,” Aarav murmured softly.

Aarav’s pen snapped in half. Kabir, who was sitting across from him, stifled a laugh. “Control, bhai. Warna library ke rules todne ke chakkar mein detention mil jayega.”

Finally, Aarav stood up and walked over to their table. “Ankit, tumhe football trials ki practice ke liye Jana chahiye?”

Ankit blinked. “Haan, lekin project—”

“Main tumhari teacher se baat kar lunga,” Aarav said firmly. “Practice important hai.”

Ankit glanced at Meera, then back at Aarav, before reluctantly leaving.

Meera crossed her arms. “Aapko kya problem hai?”

“Problem? Mujhe toh koi problem nahi hai,” Aarav said, sitting down in Ankit’s spot.

“To ap ja kar apni padhai kijiye, Captain Kapoor,” Meera replied, rolling her eyes. “Aur aapko mere projects mein itna interest kabse hone laga?”

Aarav smirked. “Jab se tum galat logon ke saath time spend karne lagi ho.”

Meera stared at him, stunned into silence, before a mischievous grin spread across her face. “Aap jealous ho rahe ho?”

“Jealous?” Aarav scoffed. “Main? Tumhare Ankit se? Please.”

“Captain Serious, aapke expressions kuch aur hi kah rahe hain aur kya matlab Mera Ankit,” Meera teased, leaning forward slightly.

Aarav leaned back, trying to hide his flustered expression. “Tum apne kaam pe dhyan do, Sharma. Aur mujhe irritate mat karo.”

Meera laughed softly, shaking her head as she got back to work. Aarav, though pretending to focus on his book, couldn’t help but steal glances at her every now and then.

---------------------------------------------------

The Unexpected Invitation

The day ended with a surprise announcement. The principal declared that the school’s top achievers—Aarav and Meera—would be representing their school at an inter-school leadership camp.

As the announcement sank in, Meera turned to Aarav with a smirk. “Toh Captain Kapoor, ek aur adventure shuru karte hain?”

Aarav chuckled, though his mind was racing. If spending more time with Meera meant dealing with Ankit again, he wasn’t sure how much “adventure” he could handle.

But as he looked at Meera, her enthusiasm contagious, he realized that maybe, just maybe, he didn’t mind the chaos she brought into his life.
