Revelations and Rivalries

✿♡♡♡✿

Meera sat at her desk, tapping her pen against her notebook as she exchanged nervous glances with Riya. Aman, as usual, lounged back in his chair, looking unThe sun streamed through the windows of the bustling classrooms as students eagerly awaited the announcement of their exam results. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation, whispers, and nervous laughter. Teachers carried stacks of marked answer sheets, and tension hung thick in the air.

concerned.

"Meera, tu kitni confident hai apne marks ko lekar?" Riya asked, fidgeting with her dupatta.

Meera bit her lip. "Confident toh hoon, lekin yeh Tripathi sir ka unpredictability kaafi stress de raha hai."

Aman leaned forward with a smirk. "Stress? Meera Sharma aur stress? Yeh toh headline-worthy news hai."

"Chup kar, Aman," Riya snapped. "Tujhe toh bas mazaak hi sujhta hai."

Before Aman could retort, the door swung open, and Tripathi sir walked in, carrying a stack of answer sheets. The room fell silent, and every pair of eyes followed him as he placed the stack on his desk.

"Good morning, class," he began, adjusting his glasses. "I must say, overall, I am impressed with the performance. However, there were a few surprises-some pleasant, and some... well, not so pleasant."

The class tensed as Tripathi sir began distributing the answer sheets, one by one, with brief comments.

"Riya Malhotra," he called, handing her paper. "Good effort, but you need to work on your application-based questions."

Riya nodded, scanning her paper quickly. She turned to Meera and whispered, "85! Not bad."

"Meera Sharma," Tripathi sir announced, his tone neutral. The room seemed to hold its breath as he handed her the paper. "Consistent as always. Keep up the good work."

Meera took her paper, her eyes darting to the score at the top. Her face lit up. "92!" she whispered to Riya, who beamed back.

Aman's turn came next. Tripathi sir handed him the paper with a raised eyebrow. "Aman Gupta. Barely passed, but at least you passed. Consider that a miracle."

The class burst into laughter as Aman dramatically clutched his chest. "Sir, yeh toh mere liye Padma Shri ke barabar hai!"

Even Tripathi sir chuckled. "Focus more next time, Aman. Your humor won't save you in the finals."

As the rest of the marks were distributed, Meera found herself breathing a little easier. She leaned back in her chair, satisfied with her performance.

In the senior classroom, the atmosphere was decidedly more serious. Aarav sat in his usual spot, his expression calm and composed, though Kabir could sense the slight tension beneath the surface.

"Captain Kapoor, lagta hai tere perfect streak ko koi tod nahi payega," Kabir teased.

Aarav smirked faintly. "Perfect toh kabhi kuch nahi hota, Kabir. Bas koshish hoti hai."

Their conversation was interrupted as Verma ma'am entered, her hands full of answer sheets. The class quieted instantly.

"Good morning, students," she said, scanning the room. "I must say, this batch continues to exceed expectations. But remember, there is always room for improvement."

She began calling out names, handing back the papers with brief remarks.

"Kabir Mehta," she said, handing Kabir his paper. "Decent performance, but you could have done better with more focus."

Kabir took his paper with a sheepish grin. "Thanks, ma'am," he mumbled before turning to Aarav. "81. Not bad, right?"

"Aarav Kapoor," Sharma ma'am announced. The class turned to look at him as she handed him the paper. "Outstanding, as always. And full marks in the numericals."

Aarav glanced at his score: 95. He nodded, satisfied, and thanked her.

As the rest of the results were announced, Kabir leaned over. "Captain, tumhare jaise topper ko dekh kar hi mere jaise middle-ground logon ko motivation milta hai."

Aarav rolled his eyes. "Tu bas mahnat kar, Kabir. Sab ho jayega."

After the results, the students spilled out into the courtyard, the buzz of discussions filling the air. The juniors and seniors mingled, exchanging stories about their exams and marks.

Meera and Riya sat under the neem tree, comparing their results with Aman, who was more interested in cracking jokes than analyzing his performance.

"Meera, tu hamesha mujhse jada score karti hai. Secret kya hai?" Riya teased.

"Bas regular study aur thoda focus," Meera replied, shrugging. "Aur tu bhi toh acha score kar rahi hai."

Meanwhile, Aarav and Kabir walked past the neem tree, their conversation drifting toward the upcoming inter-school competitions.

"Aarav bhaiya!" Aman called out, waving dramatically. "Kya result hai apka aur Kabir bhaiya ka?"

Aarav paused, glancing over. "Manageable," he replied curtly, his tone neutral.

Aman grinned. "Bas manageable? Ab ap top kar ke bhi manageable bolenge to mujhe to apna result dekh ke gayab hi ho jana chahiye."

Riya jabbed Aman in the ribs. "Chup kar. Aarav bhaiya, ignore him. Woh bas bakwas karta hai."

Aarav gave a polite nod, his gaze briefly flickering to Meera, who was busy explaining something to her classmates.

As Aarav and Kabir moved on, Kabir smirked. "Kuch zyada hi polite ho gaye ho aaj kal, Captain."

"Bas, Kabir," Aarav said, shaking his head. "Game me focus kar."

Later that evening, Aarav sat at his desk, staring at his open textbook. His mind wandered to the neem tree and the sound of Meera's laughter. He shook his head, trying to push the thought away.

----------------------------------------------------

The clock struck midnight, and the world outside Aarav's window was quiet. The soft rustle of leaves and the faint hum of crickets formed a calming backdrop, yet Aarav felt restless. The room, though filled with trophies and books, felt strangely empty.

Sitting on his bed, he ran a hand through his hair, frustrated. Something was missing, something he couldn't quite name. His gaze fell on the guitar leaning against the wall, a silent companion he hadn't touched in months.

With a sigh, he reached for it, the cool wood familiar against his fingers. He adjusted the strings and let his hands glide over them, creating a melody that resonated with his mood. Without thinking, he began to play a hauntingly beautiful tune, the lyrics of an old English love song slipping effortlessly from his lips.

"I don't wanna close my eyes, I don't wanna fall asleep..."

His voice, low and rich, filled the room, blending with the soft strumming of the guitar. Each word carried a raw vulnerability he rarely showed.

Outside his room, Ishika, paused mid-step. The sound drew her closer, and she peeked through the slightly open door. Her serious, often aloof brother was completely immersed in the music, his usual guarded expression replaced by something unguarded and tender.

A smile spread across her face as she took out her phone. Quietly, she recorded the moment, capturing the rare glimpse of Aarav's softer side.

It had been raining continuously since morning, showing no signs of stopping. This unexpected September rain brought peace to some but caused trouble for others. As a result, all schools were closed for the day, considering the difficulty children and teachers faced in commuting during the rain.

Ishika was sitting in the living room, scrolling through her phone, when she came across Arav's video from the previous night. An idea struck her mind, and she forwarded the video to Kabir

with a playful caption:.

Ishika: look Kabir bhaiya, Aarav Bhai ka ye talent kabhi kabhar hi dekhne ko milta hai. Don't tell him I sent this!😂

Kabir, intrigued, opened the video. As Aarav's voice and guitar melody filled the room, Kabir's eyes widened.

"Bro, this is gold!" he exclaimed to himself. Without hesitation, he uploaded the clip to their shared Instagram page.

The caption read: "Who knew the football captain could serenade hearts too? 🎸✨"

By noon, the reel had gone viral within. And comments poured in:

"Aarav Kapoor can sing? Is there anything he can't do?!"

"This is my new obsession."

"Aarav, where's the full concert?"

"OMG, didn't know Aarav bhaiya was this talented!"

"So dreamy 😍."

"When's the next concert, bro?"

Since school was off today, Meera had spent most of her time catching up on her sleep. Ayan came to call her several times, but she didn't wake up.

It was evening when Meera was lying on her bed, scrolling through her phone. A pack of chips lay open on her bed, and she was munching on them while using her phone.

She paused when she saw Kabir's reel. The familiar figure of Aarav, guitar in hand, caught her attention.

Curious, she clicked on the video. As the melody and his deep, soulful voice filled her ears, her heart skipped a beat. She replayed it, each note pulling her closer to an unfamiliar feeling.

"He's so... different," she murmured, a soft smile playing on her lips.

Before she could second-guess herself, she opened WhatsApp and sent him a message:

Meera: That was beautiful, You sound amazing. Can you play something Bollywood for me?

Aarav, who had been reading a book, was startled when his phone buzzed. He smirked at her message, amused by her candid request.

Aarav: Bollywood, huh? Fine. Give me ten minutes.

After thinking for a few minutes, He picked up his guitar. The rain had stopped outside, and a soft crimson glow of the evening spread across the sky.

He set up his phone, and hit record. This time, he played Raabta from Agent Vinod. His fingers moved gracefully over the strings, and his voice, rich and heartfelt, carried the timeless lyrics:

"Kehte hain khuda ne iss jahan mein, sabhi ke liye..."

As he sang, the emotion in his voice grew, his eyes briefly closing as he poured his heart into the melody. When he finished, he watched the recording and, satisfied, sent it to Meera.

Meera's phone buzzed. Opening the video, she was met with Aarav's soulful rendition of Raabta. His voice, deep and evocative, sent shivers down her spine. The way he sang felt personal, as though the lyrics held a hidden meaning only she could understand.

She pressed replay, her heart racing. By the third time, her cheeks were warm, and an unfamiliar flutter danced in her chest.

Finally, she messaged him:

Meera: You're incredible. Hamare duet challenge ke bad aj dobara apka Gaya hua gana suna. Thank you for sharing it with me.😊

Aarav, seeing her reply, leaned back in his chair, a small, genuine smile lighting up his usually stoic face.

Aarav: Glad you liked it, Miss Head Girl. Let me know if you have more requests.

Meera: Oh, I will, Captain Kapoor. But only if you promise to play live for me someday.😉

Their conversation carried on, flowing with an ease neither had expected. For the first time, Aarav felt as though someone truly saw him-not the football captain, not the class topper, but him.

After chatting for a while, Arav sent her a goodnight message, adding, "See you at school, Sharma Ji."

Reading the message brought a sweet smile to Meera's face. She replied, "Of course, Captain Serious, goodnight! See you tomorrow. By the way, in case you haven't noticed, you're not as serious as you used to be, and I think I'm winning my challenge!😉"

Reading Meera's message brought a brief smile to Arav's face, but it didn't last long. Soon, he found himself staring at the message.

He muttered to himself, "I've changed? And because of Meera? No way, that's not possible."

After thinking for a while, he messaged Kabir about football practice and then went to sleep.
