At the Sharma household, dinner was a lively affair. Ayaan couldn’t stop teasing Meera about her singing.

“Di, kal mujhe bhi aapka performance dekhna hai!” he said, mimicking her voice.

“Ayaan, chup kar,” Meera said, throwing a cushion at him.

Her father laughed. “Meera, tumhare event ki stories toh viral hone waali hain.”

“Papa, agar viral hona hai, toh pehle Captain Kapoor ko convince karna padega stage pe aur perform karne ke liye,” Meera replied, grinning.

---------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, at the Kapoor household, Aarav was sitting in his room, scrolling through Instagram. He noticed a new story from Meera—an excerpt of her singing at rehearsal.

He didn’t usually check stories, but this one played longer than it should have. Ishika peeked over his shoulder. “Sharma ki story dekh rahe ho? Interesting.”

“I’m just seeing what they’re up to,” Aarav replied, closing the app.

Ishika smirked. “Haan haan, sab samajh aata hai.”

-------------------------------------------------

A New Challenge

The next day, a surprise announcement shook everyone.

Principal: “To make things more exciting, we’re introducing a duet challenge! Teams must pair one junior and one senior for the finale. The chosen duo will be decided tomorrow.”

Meera turned to Aman. “Senior-junior duet? Agar mujhe Captain Kapoor ke saath pair kiya, toh meri toh life ban gayi.”

“Life banegi ya barbaad hogi, yeh dekhna padega,” Aman quipped.

On the other side of the auditorium, Kabir elbowed Aarav. “Captain, Sharma ke saath duet ka soch ke ready ho jao.”

Aarav sighed. “Why do I feel like this is going to be chaos?”

“It’s not chaos, bro,” Kabir said with a grin. “It’s entertainment.”

---------------------------------------------------

A Buzzing Morning

The day after the duet announcement, Xavier High was abuzz with speculation. Students filled the corridors, guessing potential pairings. Meera walked in, earphones plugged in, humming “Galliyan”. Her confidence was evident, but her thoughts were chaotic.

“Agar mujhe Captain Kapoor ke saath pair kiya gaya, toh kya karungi?” she mused.

As she reached her locker, Aman appeared, leaning casually against the neighboring one.

“Aaj ka mission kya hai, Madam Head Girl?” Aman teased.

“Mission impossible,” Meera replied. “Principal Sir ne pairings ka suspense bana diya hai.”

“Relax, Sharma. Waise bhi tum Aarav Kapoor ke saath pair hui, toh event ki TRP badh jaayegi.”

Meera rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile.

--------------------------------------------------

In the senior section, Aarav was busy with his usual morning routine—finishing assignments and dodging unnecessary conversations. Kabir walked in, phone in hand, grinning mischievously.

“Captain, ek breaking news hai,” Kabir announced dramatically.

“Now what?” Aarav asked without looking up.

“Juniors ke sab votes Meera Sharma ke duet ke liye jaa rahe hain,” Kabir said.

“And why does that concern me?”

“Because seniors ka top pick tum ho!”

Aarav frowned. “I’m not interested in singing with anyone.”

Kabir smirked. “Acha? Kal toh guitar bajane mein kaafi interested lag rahe the.”

“Drop it, Kabir,” Aarav said, shutting his notebook.

Priyanka entered the room, her usual confidence on display. “Aarav, you should prepare. Everyone’s hoping for you and Meera to pair up.”

“And what are you hoping for?” Aarav asked, raising an eyebrow.

Priyanka faltered. “I just think you’ll represent the seniors well.”

Aarav didn’t reply. He stood, picked up his bag, and headed for the football ground.

--------------------------------------------------

By midday, the entire school gathered in the auditorium for the big reveal. The principal took the stage, holding a list.

“Today, we’re announcing the duet pairs for the grand finale,” he began. “This will test your collaboration and creativity. Remember, this is a team effort.”

As names were called out, the crowd reacted with whispers and cheers.

Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for:

“From the juniors—Meera Sharma. From the seniors—Aarav Kapoor.”

The auditorium erupted. Kabir let out a loud whistle, and Riya nudged Meera, who sat frozen.

“Sharma ji, khush toh ho na?” Riya teased.

Aarav, on the other hand, maintained his usual composure, though Kabir leaned in and whispered, “Captain, yeh show ab blockbuster ban gaya hai.”

-------------------------------------------------

Later that day, Aarav and Meera met in the music room. It was their first proper interaction, and the atmosphere was...awkward.

“Uh, toh... kya plan hai?” Meera asked, breaking the silence.

“Simple,” Aarav replied. “Pick a song, practice, and perform. No drama.”

Meera raised an eyebrow. “Drama toh event ka hissa hai, Captain Kapoor.”

“Not for me,” Aarav said firmly.

“Fine,” Meera said, rolling her eyes. “Toh gaana kya hoga?”

Aarav hesitated. “Something simple. No over-the-top Bollywood medleys.”

Meera grinned. “Aapka taste toh bohot boring hai.”

Ignoring her comment, Aarav suggested “Jeene Laga Hoon” from Ramaiya Vastavaiya.

Meera nodded. “It’s a good start. But ek condition hai—if I mess up, aap meri help karenge.”

“Deal,” Aarav said, shaking her hand briefly.

--------------------------------------------------

The Rehearsal: Sparks Fly

Their first rehearsal was... eventful. Meera, with her extroverted energy, was the complete opposite of Aarav’s calm demeanor.

“Aap thoda smile toh kar sakte ho,” Meera said during a break.

“I’m focused,” Aarav replied.

“Focused rehne ke liye smile karna zaroori hai,” she argued.

Before Aarav could respond, Kabir burst into the room, phone in hand. “Guys, ek small request—ek rehearsal clip bana lo. Social media par dhamaka ho jayega.”

“No,” Aarav said instantly.

Meera, however, was intrigued. “Ek minute ka clip toh ban sakta hai.”

Reluctantly, Aarav agreed, and Kabir filmed a short clip of them practicing. Within an hour, it was trending on Instagram stories, with captions like:

“The power duo—Head Girl x Captain!”

“Can’t wait for this performance!”

----------------------------------------------------

At the Sharma House

That evening, Meera sat at her desk, replaying their rehearsal clip. Ayaan barged in, holding his phone.

“Di, tum aur Aarav Bhaiya trending ho!”

“Pata hai, Ayaan,” Meera said, laughing.

“But seriously, aap log cute lag rahe ho,” he teased.

Meera threw a pillow at him. “Nikal yahan se!”

At the Kapoor House

Aarav’s dinner was quieter. Ishika, however, couldn’t resist commenting.

“Bhai, Sharma ke saath duet ki practice kaisi chal rahi hai?”

“It’s fine,” Aarav replied.

“Fine ka matlab hai ‘accha,’ ya bas ‘tolerable’?” Ishika teased.

Aarav gave her a look, and she raised her hands in a mock surrender.

--------------------------------------------------

A Twist in the Tale

The next day at school, rumors spread like wildfire. Someone had anonymously submitted a suggestion for Aarav and Meera to perform an original song instead of a cover.

When they found out, Aarav was livid. “Who even suggested this?”

“Captain Kapoor, relax,” Meera said. “It’s not a bad idea. Original gaana matlab zyada impact.”

“But we don’t have time,” Aarav argued.

Meera smirked. “Tabhi toh main hoon. Lyrics ka tension mat lo, Captain Serious. Bas guitar ready rakho.”

Their argument was interrupted by Kabir, who walked in with a mischievous grin. “Toh Captain aur Sharma ji, ready for some fireworks?”

“Fireworks?” Aarav and Meera asked simultaneously.

Kabir held up a small, wrapped parcel. “Cultural event ke end mein ek surprise chhupa rakha hai. Bas yeh keh raha hoon—yeh duo sabko hila denge.”

Aarav sighed, while Meera looked intrigued.

---------------------------------------------------

A Chaotic Morning at Xavier High

The day after the suggestion for an original song, Xavier High buzzed with rumors. Whispers of a surprise performance by the "Captain and Head Girl duo" floated through the air, accompanied by speculation about who submitted the anonymous idea.

In the junior corridor, Meera was greeted by Aman and Riya, both grinning like Cheshire cats.

“Meera, tumhari aur Captain ki jodi par betting chal rahi hai,” Aman announced dramatically.

“Betting?” Meera raised an eyebrow.

“Haan,” Riya said, laughing. “Seniors aur juniors dono yeh dekh rahe hain ki tum dono rehearsal ke baad ek team ban paate ho ya nahi.”

“Unhe toh pata hi hoga!” Meera replied, brushing off the comment. But deep down, she couldn’t ignore the growing tension around their duet.

---------------------------------------------------

In the senior section, Aarav was having a tough morning. Kabir, never one to miss an opportunity, was teasing him relentlessly.

“Captain, aaj ka kya plan hai? Meera ke saath original gaane ke lyrics likhne ka ya Priyanka ke jealousy points badhane ka?”

Aarav glared. “I’m not here for drama. I just want to get this over with.”

“Bro, yehi toh problem hai,” Kabir replied, smirking. “Tumhare aur Sharma ji ke beech tension ki chemistry sabko dikhti hai.”

“Focus on your own performance,” Aarav snapped, walking away.

---------------------------------------------------

A Sudden Change in the Schedule

Right before lunch, an announcement crackled over the PA system.

Principal: “Attention all students participating in the cultural event. Today’s rehearsal will be held in the amphitheater instead of the auditorium. Please be there by 2 PM sharp.”

“Amphitheater? Yeh sudden change kyun?” Riya asked, frowning.

“Shaayad kisi aur ko stage practice chahiye,” Aman guessed.

Meera shrugged. “Jahan rehearse karna hai, wahan karenge.”

Little did they know that this change was part of a larger plan.
