Andre's POV

The fear of Ann's parents not liking me after the incident has now consumed me after waning for awhile. We're on our way to Ann's house in an Uber, after Ann advised me not to rent a car because she has her own car relaxing in their garage for her.

Though it's my first time coming to Ghana, I can't bring myself to looking out of the window and sight see as the car sped through the city. My mind isn't relaxed as Ann who's so excited we're in her home country. All my attention is focused on my thoughts, what are we going to say coming here out of the blue without informing anyone and what will be the reaction of her parents when they see us, particularly me. Will they approve of me for Ann or kick me out of their house and worst, out of Ann's life?

I fidgeted with my hands which didn't go unnoticed by Ann. She stared me closely, "are you okay? You've been quiet since we landed at the airport. Don't you like my country like I did yours?" Ann pouted, giving me a sad face as she pulled the hair on my skin playfully.

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just tired and I do like your country." How can I tell her I'm afraid of her parents rejecting and not approving of me for her. It will dampen her spirit and I don't want to be the cause of her regretting she came here. What if things aren't what I'm thinking off?

What if they don't hate me and rather prefer me for their daughter? There's only one way to find out and get answers to all these ifs  in my mind which I can't share with my baby, only my mother and unfortunately she isn't here.

"I can't believe you brought me here babe."

"A little bird told me how much you miss your parents and want to see them so I decided to surprise you with a trip here."

"Does that little bird happen to be El?"

"Aren't you asking an obvious question love?" I pinched her soft cheeks, making her giggle.

"What other secret plans have you two made of me?"

"They won't be secrets anymore if I tell you."Ann rolled her eyes at me and roughly pulled a strand of hair on my hand, causing me to yelp, "that's painful babe."

"That's the motive and that's what you get for not telling me."

"Do you have to be mean sometimes?"

"What's the fun in being a good girlfriend all the time?" Why does she keep answering my questions with a question?

"Mmnh no fun at all." She's right, girlfriends shouldn't be so good all the time, once in a while they got to show the jezebel side of theirs. You know, deleting all the female contacts on their boyfriends phone, burning his clothes, smashing his PlayStation and painting his room bright pink.

Just to piss him off and create some sort of liveliness in the relationship. It's more fun if the boy doesn't get super mad but joins in it, retaliating and making it a game between them. Genius right? I'm going to start doing that from now.

I want to see her reaction. Pissing off Ann is hilarious, seeing her mad face, her never ending eye rolls and hand smacks. Boy I want to see more of it. "I love you Drey, I never want to lose you." She rested her head on my chest, drawing shapes on the glass window, "you're my world, you've shown me things I never dreamed off, feelings I never thought I'll catch and you're the best thing that has ever happened to me. Words can't express how I feel about and appreciate you. I love you boo."

"I love you more than you do babes, if I may ask why the sudden love poetry?" Is she thinking what I'm thinking? That her parents don't like me and they'll kick me out of her life so she's telling me how she feels about me if we eventually break up? Gosh I mentally face palmed I'm being so negative today.

"I just want you to know how I feel about you." Ann shrugged her shoulders and changed from the window to drawing heart shapes on my chest. "And I'm going to tell you this always."

"Mmnh, I'm flattered."

Anniella's POV

An all too familiar landmark comes into view as we landed, Kotoka International Airport. Ghana? I creased my brows, looking over at Drey.

"How do you like my surprise?"

"I don't like it a bit." I dramatically crossed my hands over my chest, "I never said I want to come over here, I'm not ready to face my parents after the incident. Can't you see?"

"But babe—" Drey's face mirrored disappointment and his eyes were sad, it's a prank I'm pulling up on him and seriously I didn't know it will affect him this bad.

"No buts babe, I love it! I've been meaning to visit my parents and OMG you brought me here, thank you so much boo." I hugged and pecked him, "how did I get this lucky?" I muttered against his chest.

"Nah, I should ask that, how did I get lucky I getting a lady like you? You're always content with what I give you, no nagging whatsoever." My Drey looked at me with so much adoration my heart swelled seeing it. The way those emerald eyes of his look at me, releases massive butterflies into my stomach. I'm head over heels in love with him every second.

"I guess God made us for each other, we're a perfect fit. A match made in heaven like Carmen said, heavens did a great justice to us."

"Mmnh." He simply murmured. I am so happy I kept rumbling on and on, how Drey is going to love being in Ghana these weeks we have left and he will wish, he will never go back to the states even after we got into the car.

Drey isn't  his usual talkative self right now like he's been this summer. He kept quiet through out my rumbles and didn't notice I asked him a question. Something is definitely wrong with him, he's always like this, if there's something troubling him. "Are you okay? You've been quiet since we landed at the airport. Don't you like my country like I did yours?" I pouted, it will surely break my heart if he doesn't like Ghana.

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just tired and I do like your country." I'm not convince with his reply but I'll let it be. We just arrived in my favorite country in the world and I wouldn't want us arguing or something.

"I can't believe you brought me here." I honestly didn't think from the starting of summer, I'll end up in Ghana to meet my parents. It's either Drey is a mind reader or he has a secret informant of my life, who updates him with every detail of me.

"A little bird told me how much you miss your parents and want to see them so I decided to surprise you with this trip." So he really has an informant in my life erh?

"Does that little bird happen to be El?" She's the only one, I know who'll gladly fill Drey in on things about me.

"Aren't you asking an obvious question love?" I giggled when boo boo pinched my cheeks. I felt like a little girl, compared to him. I engaged Drey in a conversation to draw him out of that mood he's in. I hate it when he think so much about something that's bothering him and refuses to share it with me.

I do know he trusts me enough and I'm happy with that but I'm not okay when he pushes me out of his problems. Sometimes I feel he doesn't want me to think of him as always having a problem with our relationship or his life. That's wrong we all ain't perfect and relationship is all about helping each other overcome your troubles and all that, you know.

I sighed as the driver pulled up to our gate, unable to go inside. It's automated and I don't have the key. Our surprise will be ruined. It won't if I call Aunt Martha to come open us and shush her to secrecy right? I took my phone from my pocket and dialed her number, "hey Aunt Martha, please can you come open me? I'm in front of the gate. It's a surprise so please don't tell my parents okay?"

"You have the perfect one for the job. I'll be there in a minute don't worry." I hanged up the call and handed the driver a ten dollar bill, telling him to keep the change.

"She will be here in a minute to open us." He nodded his head, thanking me. "It's no problem."

The gate opened, revealing my perfect person for the job, Aunt Martha, who stood there with a remote in hand, smiling at us and looked more at Drey. She must be wondering who he is. I got out of the car, helping the driver take our stuffs out. It wasn't just two suitcases of mine and one of Drey's, our stuffs has increased to more bags. There ain't no vacation without collecting souvenirs is there?

"Thank you Aunt!" She gave me a warm motherly hug, kissing my cheeks softly. I think I felt how much she misses me in the peck, there's a warm feeling in my cheeks right now.

"No need to worry, and who's this young man?" She turned to address Drey. He smiled at her and offered his hand in a handshake.

She took it, still looking at him for a reply. "He's my friend, Aunt we're a little tired from the flight. Why don't we catch up after getting some rest?" He quickly diverted his gaze to in a questioning way at me claiming him to be my friend,. It's a bad move to refer to your boyfriend as your friend, I know but we're tired. Knowing  Aunt Martha, she's going to grill us til we tell her everything. I will live to tell her but not now and not here.

"That sounds fine."

"So much for professing you love for me in the car. I'm now a friend." Drey whispered beside me. He didn't have a pleased look on his face, his eyes are holding so much emotions right now.

"Babe you know I love you, I had to tell her that to prevent her from interrogating us like an officer. Please don't be mad boo boo." I stopped walking and gave him my most puppy eyes, "please booooo."

"I'm not mad babe, but a special friend would have been best don't you think?"

Ghana 🇬🇭 my beloved country🤸🏽‍♀️
