Thanksgiving dayð¥.
"I'll go take my bath and get ready right now." I stretch my hands under the faucet and turn it on. I added a little lemon grass liquid soap to it and washed my hands. I took a clean napkin from the counter and wipe my hands dry with it.
Carmen puts a deep fry pan on the cooker and poured oil in it. "Okay dear, I'll fry these."
"Why don't we wait when the guests start arriving then we fry them, they're gonna be hot and more delicious."
"Honey, the guests have arrived , there are like five different families around." She told me putting the spring rolls I just finished making into the pan.
"Oh okay I didn't know."
"You were so engrossed in the spring rolls preparation to notice." She tells me.
"Okay, I'll see you when I'm done."
It's Thanksgiving day today and Uncle Richard has organized a dinner inviting his friends and close associates. It's my first time so I'm kinda anxious to see how it's like.
The previous weeks have been okay. Uncle Richard is working on my license so I'll soon get a car of my own.
Izzy, Chloe, Nessa and El all are happy in their love life and during these weeks, El and Izzy had talks with me and I gave them the advice I know though I'm not really experienced in the dating department.
I always go to the coffee shop before lectures but have met that rude jerk or crashed into him and I don't intend on meeting him ever again.
I crash into someone for the second time two rooms away from mine. "Im so sorry." I apologize to the person who happens to be Aunt Bertha.
"Don't worry honey, some friends of us have arrived and we want to introduce you to them, I went into your room and couldn't find you."
I pick up her phone from the floor and check for any damage. Thank God it's in a perfect shape and I hand it to her." I was making spring rolls in the kitchen."
Her face broke into a smile at the mention of spring rolls. She like the rest of my family love the spring rolls I make. They say it's delicious and one can eat it all the time without getting bored of it so I decided to make some for the guests who'll be coming today.
"Thank you dear, I know the guests will love them, I'll see you downstairs when you're down."
"Okay Aunt, I'll be down in 5." I take the remaining distance to my door and open it. Chloe and El were already in there getting ready. Chloe was in a cream and gold evening dress with gold ankle strap heels and her neck was adorned with a beautiful diamond necklace her hair was loose hanging up to her lower waist. She was looking flawless, a definition of a beauty queen with her beautiful white skin.
She was standing in front of El who was sitting in front of my vanity. Chloe being her make up artist for the night. She always rocks the make up and styling thing but is pursuing political science at New York University. Her parents want her to follow her dad's footstep. He's the mayor of Montclair. She isn't too happy about it and is always sulking.
El was also looking stunning in her red dinner dress that reached below her knees, legs cladded in a stiletto heels though they're went ankle strap, they looked fairly similar to Chloe's.
I went into the bathroom, took a quick bath and draped myself in a towel and walked back into the bedroom. Chloe was done with El's make up and was on hers. I put on my pantie and take a bra to wear when Chloe's voice halted me.
"Baby girl, you're wearing a sleeveless top tonight, there's no need for a bra." She pointed to my bed. There was a rose gold two piece leather dress on it and black pumps on the door of the bed. It's okay, I don't have a great a fashion taste like her so I love it.
I hurry and put it on, the high waist skirt was too tight with a slit at the side. The top was cool, it's not revealing like I thought. I take my hair out of the tie it was in and let it fall to my ass and dash for the door.
"Don't you move an inch." Chloe's tense voice stops me in my tracks, "you can't go there with a raw face, lighten it up girl." She pats to the chair in front of my vanity.
I go and sit on it bracing myself for Chloe's magical hands and make up accessories.
She was done less than two minutes and swivels my chair so I face the vanity mirror.
I'm left stunned.Chloe has definitely worked her magic on my face, it wasn't a heavy make up , it was light with the right hues for my brown skin tone. I love it. "Aww thank you so much Chloe, I love it."
She released a chuckle brushing it off,"I'm happy you love it, that's thanks enough."
I shoot her a grateful smile and dash for the door again. I need to look for Aunt.
"Wait let's go, mum was looking for the both of us, Babes are you done?" El picks her phone from my vanity and walks towards me.
"Just a minute but go ahead, I'll be with you two soon." Chloe replies her.
We both leave my room down the stairs. The dinner is in the ballroom but my aunt is entertaining her close friends in the living room where we meet her. She was was talking to a family of four who's back are turned to us preventing us from seeing their faces.
When her eyes land on us she beckons us over.
She reaches for our hands and takes them in hers when we got closer to her. "Theodore and Ava meet my daughter and my niece, Elisa and Anniella."
The older lady whom I presume to be Ava smiles at me revealing her beautiful white teeth, she exuded class and sophistication as she pulls me in a hug. "Hello Anniella."
She turns her attention to El, " Hello Elisa, nice meeting you again." She hugs her too and El muttered a same here.
Her husband, Theodore also greeted , "Hello young ladies."He gives us a pat unlike his wife.
Aunt Bertha continued her introduction," El and Ann meet Andre and Achille the two sons of Ava and Theodore." She gestured to the two men beside them.
I turn my gaze to them to greet them and lo and behold, I land my eyes on the most arrogant and rude douche ever alive. Standing beside Theodore and Ava is that man I crashed into in front of the coffee shop and another man who looked a little older than jerk. Both had jet black hair, unlike jerk, his brother had a lighter shade of green eyes with a smirk and stubble on his face. Both had well built body.
Stubble man stretched forth his hand towards us in a handshake, "Hey beauties, I'm Achille Archambeau." The beauties coming from his mouth made me cringe, I don't know why.
El and I greet hello. Andre just stood there with a look of shock on his face unlike a scowl on our first encounter but masks it with a bland look. His emerald green eyes that I've been seeing too much of in my mind look me up and down assessing me. I was right about the first time I saw him, he's handsome.
His mother gently nudged him and he greets us, "Hi." Curt unlike Achille's, his eyes never leaving mine.
"Hey Andre, we've met again." El takes a closer step towards him and I turn my attention back to his parents. " Mr and Mrs Archambeau, it's nice meeting you, I'll please take my leave." I remember their surname from when Achille introduced himself.
They smile at me and say okay. I look at my aunt for approval and she nods, leaving with them before I leave. El's engaged in a conversation with jerk so I leave to the kitchen to see how Carmen's faring over there.
I weave my way through the crowd of guests who've now increased from the six I saw when I first came in here.
Carmen was done frying the spring rolls, handing them out on plates with other pastries to the waiters that were hired for the party to serve to the guests.
"Hey Carmen, need any help?"
"I'm okay here don't worry about me, enjoy yourself, I've got this."
I whine, "but I wanna do something."
"Go and enjoy the party with El and Chloe, come on go."
"El's engaged in a conversation with jerk." I slip out his nickname even before I know it, I clear my throat, "Erm I meant Andre."
"He's here?"
"Yes with his family." I inform her and take a flute of champagne from the lot on the island and take a sip.
"They're a lovely family, Andre's a darling and his brother, that boy is a charmer."
I am nearly spat my champagne on Carmen's face when she called jerk darling. Carmen dear, he's no way near that adjective.
Carmen looks at my face, concern written all over here, "Are you okay Ann?"
"Yeah I am perfectly okay." I flash her a smile and decide to leave, "I'll go join the others."
"Enjoy the party!" She yelled out to me.
The dinner party is in a full swing, guests who know themselves are chatting, others looked like they're striking business deals, the women were gathered together and from their mannerisms, they're admiring themselves and taking about latest fashion and their holidays out to different countries around the world. Typical rich women.
I squint my eyes to look for El, I don't see her anywhere around. I feel like someone is watching me intensely. I look at my side and see jerk looking at me and even when our eyes met, he didn't blink or avert his gaze.
I turn my back and leave the room up the stairs, I don't want to be anywhere around him. I don't want to give him the satisfaction of being rude to me like before. I look back to the crowd as I ascend the stairs and again I meet his gaze. Eyes looking at me as I take every stair and lips pressed into a thin line.
He's looking handsome standing there in his black tuxedo which is hugging his body and emphasing his masculine hands and long legs. His jet black hair wasn't styled with a gel, it was hanging loose to his neck in locs.
I instantly avert my gaze, not wanting him to think I'm checking him out. I take the last stair and go into my room. I passed by El's room. I open the door to check if she's inside. She's no where in sight. Where could this girl be? Conversing with jerk one minute and the next she's no where to be seen.
I trudge towards my room and dump myself on my bed being careful not to smudge my make up or else Chloe's gonna kill me. She's always bubbly but I don't think I wanna get on her bad side.
