Rose's POV
He lifted his head and looked at me with those green eyes.
"What do you want?"- he asked annoyed. I decided to ignore the hard feeling in my chest and just continued my plan.
"Please"- I asked.
He looked at me for few more moments and then said:
"Fine, talk"
"Not here, come"- I said and started walking.
I didn't turn to see if he is following me, I just knew he was there.
As we left the classroom I could hear Kayden whistling and shouting: that's my boy, that's what I taught you. And then Layla cursed and told him to shut up.
I smiled at that.
We walked for few more seconds in silence; our footsteps were being only noise we were making. I saw an empty room and opened its door.
I came in and turned around.
Doors were closed and Adrian was nowhere to be found.
"What do you want to talk about?"- he asked appearing close behind me. His breath was hot on my skin and I tried to ignore stupid feelings gathering in my stomach.
"Well...umm... there's...I...we...hmm...what?"- I mumbled.
He chuckled and moved in front of me. He was looking at me curiously.
"You said you wanted to talk to me"- he explained.
"Yes, I did, so...hmm, I need help"- I said.
"With what?"
"I found her"- I just said.
Something flashed in his eyes but it quickly disappeared so I couldn't say what it was.
"Who?"- he asked.
"A little girl, Nimueh - king's sister"- I explained.
His eyes widened.
"Y-you got her?"- he asked in shock.
"I'm pretty sure that that is what I've just said"
"Is she alright?"- he asked hopefully. I nodded. He smiled like a crazy person and tried to hold his laugh. He was still a little pale, even for an Ultrrian and he had those big dark circles, but he didn't seem so off anymore.
"Thank you so much, thank you a thousand times"- he said and did the most unexpected thing.
He hugged me.
At first I was in shock. Not just because of the tingling, but because his touch. The touch that wasn't accidental or was intended to do something.
Those feelings in the pit of my stomach appeared again and I hugged him back. I leaned into him as he buried his head in my neck. He pulled me even closer. His hands were on my waist.
It felt so right. My body fitted his perfectly. I could stay like that for the rest of my life.
I moved my arms into his hair and just enjoyed that moment.
The bell rung.
Adrian sighed and after few seconds moved away. He cleared his throat and went with his hand through his hair.
I didn't know what to say and it seemed he didn't either.
"So...what will we do?"- I asked.
"I can talk to the king..."
"No", I cut him off, "He'll think that it is our fault and then..."
"Fine, I won't. You can ask someone in there to help you" â he said cutting off my mumbling.
"Well, that is...hmm... there is a little problem that I didn't mention"
"What is it?"- he asked worried.
"So...umm... yesterday when I was walking to my place I heard a two men talking about how they have big plans for little princess and that they will put the traitor, meaning me and Layla, six feet underground for helping her escape"- I said quoting them.
He clenched his jaw not wanting to show any of his feelings.
"We need a plan", he said and started walking, "Let's go get Kayden"
"Why him?"- I whined as I followed him. He didn't answer.
He knocked on the door of our classroom. Oh, so he knew what knocking is.
When he heard a come in, he opened the door and made few steps in.
He gave some look to Kayden and he instantly stood up and took his stuff.
"Look who decided to join us"- teacher said.
Adrian gave him a fake smile and said:
"I'll need Layla to come with me"
Teacher made an annoyed face and murmured something like do whatever you want.
I was confused. Was he some rich kid whose parents have paid for half of the school so he can do whatever he wants?
'Cause that would explain a lot.
When everyone was out Adrian closed the door.
He motioned me and Layla to walk in front of them. Layla gave me confused look as I took her hand and started walking.
"What is he doing here?"- she asked me as she turned to Kayden. He smirked and waved at her.
"He is helping us"- I simply said. I heard Adrian saying something I couldn't understand to Kayden. They started talking as they followed us.
"You shake that ass, Lay"- Kayden shouted out of the blue. Layla rolled her eyes and started walking faster.
"Yeah, that's it"- he said again.
Her face turned red, she didn't blush... she was just furious. Fun fact: she is rarely angry, and when she gets angry she is really scary.
She stopped and quickly turned to him.
I moved away and prayed to God to calm her.
When he was her arm reach she slapped him. Hard.
Adrian laughed and Layla glared at him. He stopped and moved away raising his hands in surrender. He stood beside me a bit too close.
It didn't seem that it had as big impact on him as it had on me.
I sighed and took a step forward trying to make some distance between us.
He chuckled.
Adrian's POV
Layla gave me death stare. I stopped laughing immediately. She looked scary when she was angry.
From little time I knew her I could conclude that she had a bit of temper but she controlled it perfectly so it didn't show. Only person who was able to take that control away was Kayden.
I moved away and stood beside Rose.
Kayden angrily looked at Layla. He was just like her, only he didn't bother controlling his temper.
For a moment I feared for Layla. Kayden was unpredictable when he was angry. He titled his head and just looked at her.
They started arguing and I turned my attention to Rose.
She sighed and took a step forward.
I chuckled. I was obviously making her uncomfortable and it amused me.
I glanced at Kayden and Layla. They didn't seem like they will stop fighting any time soon.
I admired Layla's courage. A lot of grown men; warriors were afraid of him. He had something dark inside and everyone was scared of it. Except Layla. If only she wasn't human... she would be perfect for him.
Human... ugh.
Why is she human?
How is it possible that one person as good as her is human? It doesn't make sense.
And why did that hug felt so right?
"Do something!"- her voice brought me back to reality. She looked at me with those beautiful green eyes. If she was Ultrrian they would be almost the same color as mine. I dismissed that thought and focused on situation in front of me.
Layla was saying something and Kayden was looking at her completely furious. He then said something that caught her off guard.
She raised her hand to slap him again but he caught it.
Using his full speed, he put her against the wall still holding her hand on her back.
She was facing the wall and he stood very close to her maybe an inch away. He was whispering something into her ear.
"Adrian"- Rose said catching my attention once again.
"What?"
"Do something"- she repeated.
"Like what?"- I asked annoyed. She didn't like that tone, I figured that from last few times I used it.
"I don't know... throw him away from my friend with that super-strength of yours"- she said angrily.
I smiled at her comment.
She seemed to relax a bit but she was still expecting something.
"I can't just go around throwing people all over the place"- I said.
She opened her mouth to say something when Kayden moved away.
She gave me disappointed look and went to her friend.
I sighed. She was making me feel some strange things.
Ultrrians didn't believe in love. First time I heard about it was from my parents on our journey. They said it was the best human creation. A fairytale which could be used in a lot of ways. It could be used as an excuse for anything, a cause, a motive, means to get something you want....
Having someone to love you means never being alone. And everyone believed it. And why wouldn't they? In the end it is a perfect illusion.
I felt something for that human girl, but I would never fool myself into thinking it is love.
She is beautiful, smart, compassionate and every touch of hers set my skin on fire.
Maybe that was it... maybe it was my body liking that reaction.
It was same with every Ultrrian and human, right?
"Dude, stop staring, you're getting creepy"- Kayden said standing beside me.
"I wasn't staring"- I just said.
"If you say so, creep", he said and just when opened my mouth to say something he continued, "Get girls, let's save your sister"
I nodded immediately shutting up. I almost forgot about her. How did that happen?
"Rose", I said and she turned my way, "Come on"
