Rose's POV
He just left.
Asshole.
He can't leave me like this.
I bit my lip and shook my head.
Asshole.
I pulled ends of his jacket thankful for its warmth and cosines. What did I get myself into? I liked him way too much. That's not good.
And what about tomorrow? What will he do?
There was too much questions and not nearly enough answers. I thought if I did something about those feelings I will at least remove one problem out of my life, but I've only gotten more questions.
"What did you do to it?!" I heard someone whisper-yell. I instantly stopped and made no sound.
I hid behind the wall and started listening. I could recognize that whisper-yell anywhere. She was, lastly, my best friend, and as a reasonable almost-adult I decided to eavesdrop.
"I got in the fight", I heard another voice.
What? What?! What the hell was she doing with him?
"I know. You're an idiot", she said to him.
"Will you just keep talking or actually help me?" Kayden asked her.
"Will you ever act your age and admit your mistake?"
I could basically hear him rolling his eyes. After a few minutes of silence Layla asked: "Didn't you say that it will heal?"
"Well, it should have healed, but..." he said and chuckled.
"But what?" she asked. She sounded like angry mother.
"I got bored so I tried some things"
I frowned. I needed to see what is happening. I peeked my head slightly just to get little glance of the situation that was happening in that alleyway.
I saw Kayden sitting down leaning to the wall and Layla kneeling by him. Kayden's t-shirt was lifted and there was a lot of blood.
I gasped.
They turned in my direction. I widened my eyes knowing that I was busted.
Half an hour earlier
Layla's POV
Rose went out in hurry leaving me with those idiots. I sighed and finished my coffee.
"So how does it work? I mean what do we do now?" I asked them.
"I don't know. I have some money, maybe they'll take it", Daniel suggested.
"I'll call the waiter", Cora said and quickly stood up signaling the waiter to come. Blondie was here before I could blink. He had smile on his face just as the last time.
"How can I help you?" he asked.
"How do we pay for our...drinks?" Daniel asked.
"We don't use monetary system. As a new part of this society those rules refer to you too"
"You mean we can just come and take whatever?" Cole asked amused.
"As long as you contribute to the growth of our people, yes you can" waiter said with a smile.
"Sweet", Cole said and jumped off of his chair.
"Let's go then", Daniel said and followed Cole who was already at the door. I stood up and ran to them so I don't get left with that whore. But seriously, who wears so tight jeans that you have feeling like they are not wearing anything. How does she breathe?
"Where to now?" I asked boys as we went through the doors.
They didn't respond. I gave them annoyed glares, but they still ignored me. Cole came closer to Daniel and whispered something quietly. Daniel nodded and looked somewhere. What were they doing? I looked in the same direction as them to see what was so interesting.
On the other side of the road Kayden was slightly stumbling. He seemed kind of drunk but not really. His hair was a mess and he was looking at the sky and trying to walk on straight line in the same time. In general he looked like a mad man. Well, considering everything, he was a mad man. I don't know why I am surprised by his... eccentric behavior anymore.
My thoughts were interrupted by Cole and Daniel crossing the street. I widened my eyes. What were they doing? They knew how dangerous he was.
Cole whistled and Kayden slowly turned his head towards him. Daniel said something and Kayden started laughing.
I bit inside of my cheek. That was not going to end well. Just when that thought went through my mind Daniel swung his fist and connected it to Kayden's cheek making him fall on his back. He was still laughing.
He could have avoided that punch, so why didn't he?
Cole and Daniel started kicking his stomach with their feet. Kayden was just standing still making some sounds that should've be chuckles or something.
They were beating him hard and I couldn't just watch it anymore. I rushed over to them and pulled back Cole by his shirt. He stumbled few steps surprised. I didn't wait for him to react because I had to deal with his friend.
Daniel was not Daniel at the moment. I have never seen this side of him. He was so angry and focused on inflicting pain that he didn't even see or hear me.
"Daniel! Enough!" I screamed and pushed him away.
He was breathing hard and he looked kind of lost. I shook my head disapprovingly at him.
"Go. Both of you", I commanded slowly. They didn't move.
"Now!" I yelled and they were gone before I could say anything else.
I turned my attention to Kayden. He was laying on the ground hardly breathing. There was blood all over his shirt and his face. He was focused on looking at the sky again. I kneeled by him and he slowly brought his gaze to my face.
"Come on", I said and pulled him up. He chuckled as he leaned on me. I rolled my eyes and dragged him in one of those alleyways.
"Don't move", I ordered as I put him down.
"What is it? Feeling extra..." he started coughing blood. After few seconds he stopped and wiped blood of his face with his sleeve.
"Bossy?" he continued. I raised my eyebrow and decided to ignore his comment. Once again I lowered myself to his level to see what was wrong with him. I sat on my shoes and started slowly pulling his shirt up.
He started laughing. I ignored it. I am too good for this world.
Things we do to go to heaven...
I looked at that crazy wound once again. I frowned. Whole left side of his stomach was ruined. There were cuts and scratches bleeding, skin flying around and still he seemed perfectly fine. One round-shaped wound particularly caught my attention. I took a better look at it and saw it was the wound from yesterday.
"What did you do to it?!" I whisper-yelled angrily. He said it would heal and that he doesn't need stitches. It definitely didn't heal. If anything, it was in worse state than before. There was also some glittery thing there but I didn't pay any attention to it.
"I got in the fight", he said casually. He was playing stupid with me. I knew that he was aware of what I was asking.
"I know. You're an idiot", I said to him trying to calm down.
"Will you just keep talking or actually help me?" Kayden asked.
"Will you ever act your age and admit your mistake?"
He rolled his eyes and raised his eyebrows questioningly.
"Didn't you say that it will heal?" I finally said breaking our stare contest.
"Well, it should have healed, but..." he said and chuckled.
"But what?" I asked annoyed by his behavior. Such a child.
"I got bored so I tried some things", he just said, like it was nothing.
Try what things? I massaged my temples. He was giving me headache. Why did I even care? I can't understand myself sometimes.
I opened my mouth to say something when I heard gasp. I quickly turned to see no one else than my best friend standing there in male jacket. I stood up. She was kind of half embarrassed for her spying and a half angry.
"Why are you wearing a male jacket?" I asked her and Kayden bursted of laughing.
"Why are you alone with him?" Rose spat last word like it was poison.
"I asked you first", I said.
"I asked you second", she answered back.
"Really?"
"Really"
"What are you five?" I asked her.
"Only if you are"
"Girls, girls... stop quarreling, I beg you", Kayden said with fake annoyed expression. I could see that as a little bitch he is, he enjoyed himself very well.
"Shut up", the two of us said to him.
"Layla", Rose started as she gave me serious look.
"He's hurt, Rose. What was I supposed to do? Leave him?" I cut her off.
"Yes!" she exclaimed as her locks fell on her face. She moved them angrily. I gave her are-you-serious look and she just shrugged it off.
"Daniel and Cole did it", I said quietly. I knew Kayden could hear it. I still couldn't understand why he let them beat him. I saw what he can do. He could take them in a blink of an eye; like it's nothing.
"Oh", Rose said with thoughtful expression.
"We need to stitch him up", I said. She nodded and came closer. I knew she was better in this medical stuff than me so I let her have a look.
"Yeah, you just keep acting like I'm not here. I am completely okay with that", Kayden said playfully. Rose looked taken aback, but not by his comment.
"You messed around with g..."
"Yes", he cut her off.
"With what?" I asked confused. What were they talking about?
They ignored my question. They obviously didn't have any intention to answer it, neither of them. I sighed and decided to let it go. Whatever.
