Chapter 48: Chapter 46 II Common sense

Alien Invading My HeartWords: 8866

Kayden's POV

High pitched tone, sounding like an eco heard from the dark well, slowly intensified until it was so loud to pierce my ears. It wasn't going to end, I had to make it stop - I had to, but I couldn't move. Smell of the chemicals made chills run down my spine.

I open my eyes looking straight ahead into the blinding brightness feeling dizzy.

In a few moments that took me to come to my senses, all the memories of awakenings like this passed before my eyes. I blinked it away.

There was something on my face. I had to take it off. It wanted to suffocate me. I raised my hand but it was linked to something. I looked down seeing tubes driven through my skin hooking me to an enormous machine that was making all that noise. My heart was beating like a crazy wounded beast wanting to rip open my chest that was fighting so hard to breathe.

I felt tightness in my throat and cold sweat dripping down my face as I lifted the other shaking hand up. Needles, tubes, machines, going in or out made my stomach rise up.

I sat up abruptly feeling terrible pain in my chest that pushed out the little air I was able to take in. I coughed instinctively, feeling blood flood my mouth again. Hot flashes worsened the headache and the throat was getting as soar as the sandpaper.

Get it out. Get it out. Get it out.

Beeping, chemicals, brightness – it was driving me insane. I wanted to yell, scream, but I felt like I was under water – slowed down, muted, helpless.

Out. Out. Out!

I ripped out the machine in my nose and threw it as far as I could, tearing the tubes out of my skin in the process. Warm blood ran down my hand as I swung my legs off the bed.

The door opened and an army of people dressed in white came rushing in. I could only distinguish shapes and colors as everything was blurred. I knew I couldn't stay here, not for a minute longer. I jumped down and felt cold hands on my forearms.

All my senses were overwhelmed and I felt as though my head was going to burst into a million pieces.

I ripped away my bloody arm and pushed the other person away. I heard them saying something as I was leaving, but I couldn't make out the words. I just had to get out of there.

Another hand on my arm.

"Leave me", I shouted and pushed them away again with all the strength I had left and ran away. My lungs were on fire and I couldn't breathe. Everything hurt and all I saw were the white walls closing in on me.

The doors in the distance felt like an oasis in a desert. Just a few more seconds and I was out of the hellhole.

The sun blinded me and I fell down on my knees. All I wanted was to breathe, but every time I tried I felt blood bursting out. I looked at my hands covered in red liquid and the whole world started swaying around. My head hit the hard concrete.

Before I passed out I saw familiar glowing green eyes looking at me with concern.

Electricity.

I shoot my eyes open once again and blinked away the blinding brightness seeing outlines of my own room. I squeezed my hand feeling electricity crawl through my body sobering me up a bit. I took a deep breath. No pain. Why was there pain?

"So you're not dead, darn it", I heard ringing in the background.

My mind was cloudy. I couldn't think straight. What happened?

I looked down to see petite figure framed with brown hair sitting on my bed squeezing my hand. A dash of mischief twinkled in her eye as always, but there was something else that I couldn't quite place.

Things started to add up in my head, but I still felt drowsy.

"What did you give me?" I groaned and closed my eyes rubbing my head. She let my other hand down to cross arms on her chest raising one eyebrow up.

"They gave you enough sedative to put down an elephant so your ungrateful ass wouldn't break any more legs while bleeding to death", Layla said and puckered her lips.

Fucking hell.

I look down at my chest to see and ugly red mark just above my heart. The skin around it was slightly discolored adding to the horrific look of it. I breathed in feeling my strength slowly coming back and then looked at her again. Was that worry I saw in her eyes? It couldn't have been.

"How long was I out?"

"A week", she said and got up. I rested my head back onto the pillow and watched her hips sway side to side as she walked to the other side of the room. She took a glass of water and turned around locking her eyes with mine.

"Adrian found you bleeding out like an idiot in front of the hospital", she blurted out, "No one dared to come near you because you were acting like a rabid dog"

I narrowed my eyes at the attractive little annoyance. "What are you doing here?"

She raised her shoulders and closed the distance sitting back on the bed. "Adrian wasn't feeling well so he asked me to take care of you and I was bored at the school without Rose"

"Not well how... and why would he ask you out of everyone else?"

"I'm gonna pretend that didn't hurt my feelings", she said and put her hand on her chest to emphasize.

"Oh, I wasn't aware you were so fragile, maybe I should move so you could take my place and I could tend to you"

She rolled her eyes and passed me the glass of water. Only after starting to drink I realized how terribly thirsty I was.

"Adrian was feeling feverish" she clarified and stretched her arms above her head arching her back, "and out of all your nonexistent friends, he choose me to babysit saying you'd rather see me than your mother"

"So we're friends now?" I inquired ignoring the comment about my mother. I could see she was curious about it. She watched me for a quick second and decided to let it go.

"Nah", she said finally, drawling the word. She leaned over me lowering her head to my ear: "I just think you're hot"

I raised my eyebrows astonished by the sudden mood switch. She backed away and smiled innocently. I lifted myself on the elbows and tilted my head. I watched her but she never broke eye contact. Her brown eyes were glowing so slightly to almost be mistaken with the look of human eyes in the sun. All her features looked like they've been sculpted by some perfectionist. Every curve arouse the urge to be touched.

"You like to play with dangerous things", I pointed out and she bit her lip, "you're going to get hurt, love"

"I can take care of myself", she declared once again.

"Yeah, I've been informed before"

She shook her head and raised one hand to my chest gently tracing the shape of the new scar sending electricity to all the wrong places. Her eyes glowed brighter. Near death experiences make you horny, don't they?

She continued lightly touching the outlines of my muscles to my neck where I felt the other newly healed wound. She lifted her gaze to meet my eyes.

"Does it hurt?" she asked.

"Nah", I mimicked her and slowly sat up closing the little space there was between us.

"It looks like shit, but I guess it will disappear like the wound on your stomach", she remarked as her hand glided down to the long gone scar.

I smirked and put my hand on her thigh. "What can I say... I'm indestructible"

She lifted her chin up. "You certainly like to think so"

"But did I die?" I stated and smiled victoriously.

"Not yet", she protested and I squeezed her thigh moving my hand higher up. She licked her lips and smiled. "Aren't you a bit too weak for those things"

I clenched my jaw and swiftly pulled her up on my lap just to pin her on the bed under me. Her breathing fastened as I lifted her hands above her head. I lowered my head so our lips were almost touching. She smelled bewildering.

"I guess you'll have to go easy on me then", I whispered. She shivered and I grinned as I let her hands go. She opened her eyes.

"I'll try", she said as she flapped her eyelashes, "no promises though"

She put her hands on my chest and spread her fingers slowly bringing them to my neck to pull me down. She lock our lips together decisively igniting a dangerous fire inside of me.

Never breaking the kiss she pushed me down and straddled me. I traced her glorious body from the knees, over the divine firm ass barely covered in the winter dress to the small waist. The way our lips fit like two puzzle pieces evoke primal urges that lived in us all.

She moved away. Maybe she regained common sense after all this time?

I watched her take her dress off gracefully leaving her in her black lacy bra and smallest matching panties. She looked incomparable and fucking mouth-watering. I felt hungry for her confident touches.

I sit up and pull her closer into a deep kiss. She arched her back as I squeezed her ass pressing herself skin to skin with me. The desire was burning deep in me. She tangled her hands into my hair pulling it slightly. This woman was going to be the end of me.

Rest of the clothes flew away. Hot breaths, moans, screams, sweat, pupils dilating... all until the exhaustion closed our eyes.

For the first time in a long time I dreamt of nothing.
