Adrian pressed himself into the couch as he stared at his hands, his mind dizzy with thoughts swirling around. His mind halted as he felt Aldrich lightly kiss the top of his head.
Looking up at his boyfriend, he ran his eyes through his features, the sight of his sterling grey eyes comforting him.
"What are you thinking, cupcake?" Aldrich asked, knowing well what the answer was, but he wanted Adrian to say it.
"Just wondering how the conference tomorrow will go." Adrian admitted, mumbling lowly.
When the former rulers got to know about the news, they were furious because they weren't the ones to know about it first. And then, much to Adrian's surprise, they were okay with it.
Though, they thought it would be better to hold a conference tomorrow, as the public might have a lot of questions, too.
And this made Adrian worry a lot. He hasn't even talked to his parents ever since he started dating them. He had been avoiding their calls, hell he'd even been avoiding Vincent's calls and messages ever since they did the reveal!
He was too scared to face them, but now, he had to face all these people tomorrow, and even if he had his boyfriends by his side, he felt as if his heart would leap out of his body even with the thought of doing it.
But he had to do it, he knew he'd have to do it now or later.
"Little one, we will be with you all the time. Nothing wrong will happen, you'll be amazing. And everyone will love you, just like us." Aldrich ran his strong fingers through Adrian's fluffy white mess of a hair, ruffling them more. But something got the little one's attention from what Aldrich said just then.
"Y- you both... You both lov-"
Aldrich realised what he said, and quickly whirled around to face Zion.
"Is it done, love?" He asked, cutting off Adrian's speech. He mentally smacked himself in the head for using that particular term of endearment, unintentionally.
Thankfully, he was saved by Zion, who was completely oblivious to what happened as he started coming towards them to sit on the couch.
"Yeah, let's see what this is-
Why are smiling like that, bun? Aldrich, is something wron-... Why are you hiding your face?" Zion asked, completely confused.
"Uh nothing. Let's watch this." Aldrich said, dismissing with a shake of his hand. His answer seemed to break Adrian's trance.
Earlier that day, there was a CD delivered to them with Baron's name on it. Usually, they would have dismissed anything like that, thinking it was a prank or something, but Baron's name on the package made them stop.
Zion pressed play on the remote, Baron's voice echoing after a few seconds while the screen remained blank.
"So.. I have a few confessions to make and a few apologies to do. I will be quick and come straight to the point.
Um.., a few weeks ago, T- trevor came up to me and asked me to help him with some wicked plans of his. I, of course, knew that it will bring me to my own downfall, and rightfully declined.
I was going to tell you guys about this, but then before I could do that, things slowly got out of hand. I should have told you guys about it. It is completely my fault."
The trio noticed the crack in his voice, and they were very surprised about this to say the least.
"Later, I started to get calls from unknown numbers, threatening me for my life, recording my every step. It didn't take a genius to guess who was behind all of them.
Trevor started doing this too much, and then... He started using someone else in those threats too. That someone being Kaitlyn."
Adrian heard the sharp inhale Zion took, confused about this unknown person.
Zion paused the video and turned towards his boyfriend, knowing well he has no idea who Kaitlyn was.
"Kaitlyn is Baron's fiancée." Zion said, making Adrian's mouth turn o-shaped.
Zion resumed, the screen grabbing the three's attention yet again.
"I have no idea how... I don't know when... Trevor kidnapped Kate, and i-.. I couldn't do anything about it. He threatened me that he would harm her if I told anyone anything about this. And I... I was so scared, Zion. I was so scared..."
There were a few sniffles and a lot of voice cracks in the recording.
"I had to listen to everything he said. He managed to bribe the ministers of the Drovank and the West Kingdom, and they helped him at every step. He started collecting evidence and I had to give him information about everything that was happening in here. And even if I messed up, he used to remind me all the time about how he'll hurt my Kate.
During the fest, which was right before this all started, I saw Adrian and I immediately thought, 'oh him and Zion would look great together.'"
A chuckle ran through the room as Adrian felt a blush rise up his cheeks.
"So, I tried to be cupid, as always. He was exactly Zion's type. What I didn't realise was that he was exactly Aldrich's type, too.
The photographs that he made me take from the cctv's, I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about, was a great opportunity for them to reveal some shit about you all. But then Trevor said he'll 'spice things up'.
He came across some stuff about taking over the West Kingdom, and he was over the top about it, but when you guys revealed the engagement, his anger was.. I can't forget that day.
But then, he remembered the pictures, and was very happy to have them so that he could showcase Adrian as a 'side-piece'.
Fortunately, before he could do that, you guys revealed your relationship. I can't explain how happy I am for you guys. You guys are the rulers that the world needs."
A breathy chuckle broke Baron's speech.
"Now, I really don't know if you guys will forgive me, or even if you all believe what I'm saying, but I still want to tell you this before anything gets out of hand.
I am safe now, Kate is with me. We managed to run away as soon as we got the chance and I'll probably stay hidden till it's safe for us to get out.
Trevor is hiding under the ministers of the Drovank Kingdom. And please, please catch him before he does anything worse than whatever he has planned in that rotten mind of his.
I will now give you the address. Even if you don't believe me or forgive me, catch him for everyone's safety.
Stay safe, and if you guys will, invite is to the wedding."
His voice stopped as the blank screen was replaced as he came into the picture, with red, exhausted eyes and a relieved smile.
Then, the screen changed as an address came into view, on which Zion paused, Aldrich quickly taking a picture.
He sent it to Robert, updating him about Trevor while Zion got up, dialling some people and telling them to tighten the security for the conference.
He had to keep his people out of trouble.
Adrian was sitting still in shock, as Zion came by and sat beside him, hugging him sideways.
"What pictures was he talking about?" Adrian asked, listening to Zion's heartbeat.
"We received a few pictures of you with both of us individually. They were taken in such a manner that made it seem very intimate." Zion explained, concerned about the sudden seriousness on Adrian's face.
Adrian got up from his seat, shrugging off Zion and Aldrich's hands. He slowly walked to the other end of the couch, clutching his hair in his shaking hands as his eyes turned glossy.
"So... So you guys decided to...
So you guys decided to date me to get rid of the rumours?" Adrian asked, his voice a hushed whisper.
"Adrian... Adrian no.." Aldrich tried to explain as he saw Adrian heading towards the door.
The door slammed shut, indicating that Adrian left the room.
The kings turned to look at each other, their minds clashing with the thoughts of the misunderstanding that was just caused.
