Feng Mei walked through the beautiful hallways. But her mind was filled with so many thoughts. First it was lady Perlinâs situation.
She did not know what would happen to the lady and why she would disappear from the story line. secondly the game interface; it did not show any improvement in its new update.
She looked up at the game pop up right in front of her face. The update showed it was still in 1%
âItâs good that itâs not updating fast enough. It gives me time to settle down before these stupid things spew out outrageous tasks,â
âThis way miss.â Lana whispered gesturing to the hallway to her right.
Feng nodded to her and walked that way. âI feel like Iâm missing something... how did Clarina and duke meet each other? In a party or something? Where do they meet... I feel like I know it, but somehow itâs escaping my mind,â
She knocked on her head.
.....
âYoung lady! What happened?â Lana panicked behind her.
âNothing.. Just trying to remember something,â
âPlease lady, donât hurt yourself.â She gently caressed her head and helped arrange the flowers in her hair. âThis way..â she led her towards a beautifully decorated arch.
It led directly outside to a glasshouse filled with exotic flowers. She even spotted a few rare varieties of orchids here.
âWow, this place is like a fairy tale.â She looked up at the glass ceiling. It was covered partially with a beautiful red wine. Its leaves as sharp as daggers cut through the glass at some places.
âI stand corrected, a dangerous fairy tale,â
âFeng~ Come here,â lady Perlin called for her from the picnic table in the middle of the room. âI heard you liked treats. I had the cook make some delicious ones. Come try it,â she sweetly smiled at her.
Feng smiled and ran to her.
Suddenly Perlinâs eyes widened in shock.
âFeng dearest, why are you running barefoot?â she came to her and lifted her up.
âeep. Lady, p-please let me down. Iâm too heavy,â she whispered, holding onto her sleeves.
Lady Hiliana laughed loudly. âShe can lift up an elephant with those twig like arms. You weigh much like cotton to her,â
Feng chucked. âreally?â
âReally?â lady Perlin kissed her cheeks. She lifted her over to the chair and placed her there. With a towel, she wiped her feet. âThis fair feet should not be seen my anyone but your husband dear,â
Feng raised a brow. âI like being barefoot in the house.â
âWhy? Are the shoes uncomfortable?â lady Hiliana gently caressed her head.
She nodded. âThey are. Iâm not used to wearing high heels. I like the small pair of ballerinas I had in the ship,â
âOf course, why didnât I notice?â lady Hiliana sighed. âPerlin, have your house magician make a pair of those shoes of her in every colour. Ask my accountant to settle it.â she pinched her cheeks softly.
âWait, why magic shoes?â Feng glanced at them both.
âThose you were wearing on the ship were magic shoes dear.â
Feng was thoroughly shocked. âI was a pampered miss.â All along she was wearing a pair of magic shoes out without even knowing it.
âa pair of magic infused articles cost a fortune!!!â
She cringed, remembering the time she stepped on a random dog poo on the ship. âUgh god I didnât do them any justice,â
âLady Hiliana, I donât want magic shoes. I can deal with the ones I already have,â
Perlin shook her head. âNo, no, you must wear magic shoes. Look, you already have a small bruise forming on the back of your heal. It was the mistake on my part. I neglected buying you some comfortable shoes,â
âno no, it was not your fault at all.â Feng tried her best, but the two older ladies made plans to buy her a whole closet full of shoes once again.
This was the first time she feared the power of rich.
Of course, she was considered rich in her older life but not this level of rich. She couldnât afford to throw money like that in a product that she was bound to grow out of.
Silently, she bit into a cookie. âWonder what the twins are doing?â
âThey are having a talk with my husband,â lady Perlin anxiously looked at the window while handing her another cookie.
âPardon?â Feng looked at her in shock. âHow did she hear my thoughts? Is that her powers? But isnât she a warrior type?â
Lady Hiliana wiped the crumbs off the side of her mouth. âYou spoke out loud, dear,â
âOh, that explains it.â Feng awkwardly took the napkin from her and wiped her mouth. âWhy is the duke having a talk with them?â
âItâs because...â Perlin hopefully looked at her sister.
âThe Parlovâs are planning on adopting the twins. It is if they wish to,â
Feng knew this already. âBut is the duke in with this plan?â
âof course dear, the duke loves children. We... we just were not gifted with a child of our own. For years we have been searching high and low,â
Her eyes narrowed. âSorry if I offend you a bit...why havenât you adopted a child? You are a reputed family and anyone will be willing to be your child. so why?â
Lady Perlin pinched her cheeks. âWe are a reputed family. Thatâs why it made it hard to find a child of our own. Our closest family came first when we planned on adoption. But all those children only wanted power and our wealth.â
âWhat about outside the family? Why didnât you, lady Perlin?â
Lady Hiliana gave her a look to give it up, but Feng decided to ignore it. This was the future of Ethan and Aiden. She needed to know why she was not choosing others.
Lady Perlin dwindled with the napkin in her hand. âWe once took in a child from outside. But that child..... that child almost broke us apart..â
Feng was completely shocked. âHow...â
âFeng darling eat your cookie,â lady Hiliana gave he another cookie subtly telling her to stop.
