I wore your cap
When I delivered my first wedding gallery
I made marketing content
After our date nights and late night fights
All here, within these
White cinderblock walls,
Did our relationship
And my business
Begin and grow.
Now here I am,
Back again,
Staring at the same walls,
Business still thriving.
But this time,
I do sit,
Capless.
You're not with me anymore.
You left
Shortly after I left these white walls,
For the first time.
Yet I remain,
And with me,
Remains so much.
I thought I might mourn your loss
Coming back here,
But surprisingly,
I don't.
I look at the walls,
And I'm reminded that
I built my business here
We may have built it up together
As you supported me
But I remain
And my business does too.
I developed
Branding, marketing, and passion here
I grew up here
I made my friends here
And while you no longer
Exist here with me
My friends still do
My business still does
And I remain in tact
My passion has not left me
My friends have not gone
When you left,
A chunk of my heart left too,
But I still remain.
I remain.
I persist.
I still am whole,
Within these plaster white walls.
