Chapter 8 of 125

Spiritual Warfare & Rageful Warfare

[ p o e t r y 2]202 words~2 min read

The Poets say

That there are lovers

And there are fighters.

I disagree.

I am a lover

And

I am a fighter

I don't fight

Out of anger

Or justice

Or even power

I fight to be kind

To be humble

And to be Christlike.

I have fought,

Every day

And lost,

Many days

On the days

I lose

I am cruel,

Power-hungry

And bitter

On the days I win,

I am kind,

Humble,

& a champion of all that is good

If I were a fighter

Of anger, or power, or rage

Oh how the fight would be easier

I've thrown punches

I've bullied

I've manipulated

I've hurt

Ive suffered

I've fought tooth and nail

With many a man or woman

To throw a punch

To win a fight

To win the war,

At another's expense?

That's the easy fight.

Warfare fueled by rage

Is as blind

And reckless as it comes

You will win the battle,

But you can't win the war

Warfare, fueled by prayer

And persistent, dutiful supplication

Wins wars.

I may loose the battle

I may loose my life

But my war is over.

My war is won.

I can't loose.

My God has already won.
