My Heart is Pounding

Today I said,

"Between J and jobs

I swear I'll die 10 years earlier"

But oh I'm ALIVE.

My heart may be racing,

But I can finally

Feel it BEATING again.

She's pounding.

She's thumping.

And my world is ablaze

And alive.

I'm basking

In the anxiety and the excitement

Of new love

And budding feelings.

New jobs

And unfolding new realties.

What a time to be 21 and alive

What a time to be graduating

What a time to feel my heart

Within me

Collapsing in on itself

Day by day.
