'Why?????'
'Just Why in the world I can hear those???' Y/n panicked
"What?" Harry muttered.He could hear the voices too
"Sorry??" Lockhart pardoned
"That voice" Harry said confusedly
"voice?" Lockhart looked around
"Didn't you hear it????Y/n..did you heard it?" Harry looked at her
"I did" She replied nodding her head a little
"what are you two talking about????I think you're getting a bit drowsy" Lockhart chuckled and looked at the clock "And great Scott!!, no wonder. Look at the time, we've been nearly four hours....Spooky how the time flies when one is having fun" Lockhart said looking around the room checking if he heard anything. Harry and Y/n looked at each other.
"Spooky"
After few minutes, when they came out the room both of burst with questions
"What was that?..Why couldn't Lockhart hear it?" Harry asked Y/n
"I don't know...He must be focusing alot on 'signing' his photocard" Y/n said like she didn't care about what she heard
"I don't think its that..it must be something else..if we both of us heard it and Lockhart didn't, there must be something!!! by the look on your face, I assume you do know something" Harry stopped in his track forcing Y/n to do same
'There's no running away, huh??' Y/n signed
"I'm not sure Harry, What if...we're not supposed to hear them but....we do" Y/n shrugged
"Do you think we're the only ones who hear that voice?? there must someone else who can--" Harry was interrupted
"Blood....I smell blood"
"Let me rip you"
"Its coming from the walls" Y/n pointed at wall. Harry pressed his ear near the wall
"Let me kill you" The voice started to move
"Let's go Harry!!!!!" Harry followed the voice that repeated the word 'kill' alternatively
'No matter how much I hate her...If we hurry...then..maybe.....maybe..I can save her' that was Y/n had in her mind
They hurriedly followed the voice. they were almost near it..just a little bit closer
"Harry!!!" Hermione and Ron were in front of them.
"Did you hear it?" Harry said automatically
"Hear what?" Ron asked back
"That voice" Harry looked around
"Voice? what voice?" Hermione asked him
"there's a voice around here... we can hear it" Harry replied them
" 'we'?? who else?" Ron asked him
"Y/n!!! She can hear the voice too...right Y/n??..." There was no response. Harry looked back to where Y/n was. the place was empty
"Where is she?" Ron asked looking at Harry
"Was she with you?" Hermione asked Harry worriedly
"Yes..we were together since our detention.. She was with me all the time!!" Harry looked around trying to find his best friend
"There!!! She's there!" Ron walked towards a direction with Harry and Hermione following him. They saw Y/n just few feet away..they couldn't see her because of the darkness.
Y/n was looking around vigorously. She was trying to find something , she moved closer to the wall near her. The trio walked towards her
"Y/n?" Harry placed his hand on her shoulders. She turned to look at him with a worried face. "Are you alright?" Ron asked her
"Yes..I am..it just thought..I heard some voice here" She looked around again, worry never leaving her face
"You can hear what Harry can hear too?" Hermione asked and Y/n just nodded her head.
'where was it??? Which corridor was it!!????' Y/n kept looking at corridors around them, trying to find a way
"See?? We heard it first in Lockhart's office. and again just--" Harry stopped
"It time"
Harry and Y/n felt shiver run down their spine. Both of looked at each other
"Its moving" Harry said
"Its going to hurt someone!!!" Y/n completed and ran with Harry
"Kill??" Ron asked
"Hey, wait! Not so fast!!!!" Hermione and Ron ran behind them. they ran and ran through the corridors. they didn't knew where they were running too...they just knew it was there and they were running in the right direction. They stopped when they felt the ground wet from water
'I am late'
Harry kept walking carefully not trying to slip. his friends followed him. they stopped again when they saw a pile a spiders creeping out from the small hole of window
"strange...I've never see spiders act like that" Harry said with experience
"I don't like spiders" Ron whimpered
"Harry.." Y/n whispered. All three of them looked at her and followed her gaze to see a message..written in red
"The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the Heir, Beware" Hermione read aloud "Its written in blood" Hermione said with slight disgust. Y/n tapped Harry's hand making him follow her gaze.
"Oh no" Harry muttered and Hermione gasped. Harry unconsciously stepped forward taking Y/n with him. "Its Filch's cat" He said looking at the stiff cat with red wide glassy eyes, hanging by her tail.
"Its Mrs. Norris" Y/n stepped backward "I think we should go before someone sees us" But she was too late. The footsteps filled the corridors. Every students of each house were in front to them, they stopped in their tracks watching four Gryffindors, a stiffed cat hanging from the torch bracket and A threatening message. It was all quiet until a voice broke the silence.
"'Enemies of the Heir, beware'...you'll be next Mudbloods" Draco said looking at Hermione. Her friends glared at him
"What's going on here? Go on, make way, make way" said a voice making its way in the crowed. Y/n looked at pair of deep brown eyes of someone who meant alot to her. He asked her what was going on. She shook her to Jake telling him that they didn't do anything and turned to look at Mr. Filch who just made his way out of the crowd of students
"Potter? Kim?" He asked both the second years "What are you two??" He looked behind them to see his cat miserably hanging from the torch "Mrs. Morris?" He looked at Harry and Y/n "You two have murdered my cat "
"No No" Harry denied
"No...We didn't do anything" Y/n stepped back a little with harry beside her.
"I'll kill you" Filch said looking murderously. he grabbed both at students by their collar. "I'll kill you both" Filch screeched
"Hey!!!" Jake ran through the crowd and tried to help his sister and her friend. But couldn't since Filch was gripped the life out of Harry and Y/n.
"ARGUS!!!" Dumbledore arrived with other teachers making Filch let Harry and Y/n go. "Argus, I---" He stopped when he saw the writing on the wall. "Everyone will proceed to their dormitories immediately" Dumbledore announced. Jake grabbed Y/n's hand and was about to walk way with others when a voice interrupted.
"Everyone except.....You four" Dumbledore pointed to Y/n, Harry, Ron and Hermione. Y/n turned to Jake "You go ahead..I'll be fine.. and I..promise to tell you everything..just now" Y/n pulled out her hand from his grip. Jake nodded and went back with Fred and George. Lockhart stepped forward to see Mrs. Norris
"She's not dead, Argus...she has been petrified" Dumbledore told Filch.
"Ah!! I thought so..So unlucky I wasn't there..I know exactly the counter-curse that could've spared her" Lockhart said like he understood the situation right away.
"That would've been possible if you weren't busy 'signing your fan mails' " Said Y/n savagely at the wrong place and wrong time. Professor McGonagall looked at Y/n telling her to be quiet but failed to hide her smile. Y/n swore she even saw Snape smirking a little by her words.
'I made both of the most strict teachers of Hogwarts smile..I feeling so proud----Oh Stop!!! Don't think of that now' Y/n mentally slapped herself.
Y/n's comment made Lockhart shut up, Dumbledore continued "But how she has been Petrified, I cannot say"
"Ask this two..." Filch said nodding his head towards Y/n and Harry "Its them who's done it....You saw what they wrote on the wall......They know I'm a......that I'm a...Squib"
"Its not true, sir....I swear" Harry looked at Y/n and continued "We never touched Mrs. Norris..and I don't even know what a Squib is!!" Harry replied
"SHE DOES!!" Filch pointed his finger at Y/n making her flinch " She knows what It is!!!" He said glaring at Y/n
"So what if I know????!! Do you really think some Second years can do something like that!!!??" Y/n pointed her head at Mrs. Norris
"You're a KIM!!! Who could know??? Your family has done unimaginable stuff!!!" Filch screeched. Y/n gasped when she realized how Filch thought of her and the Kims.
"She's right,Argus......No Second years can do that..Its Dark Arts...most advanced one, I guess" Dumbledore said
"If I might, Headmaster???" Snape said something for the first time in the situation "Perhaps Potter, Kim and their friends were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time." Snape said. The Gryffindors were shocked. Was Snape trying to help them?. Y/n looked at Snape with a pleading face that Snape saw but he continued
"However....the circumstances are suspicious. I, for one.. don't recall seeing Potter and younger Kim at dinner" Snape stood in front of both of them.
"I'm afraid that's my doing, Severus...." Lockhart said
'Well....he's not that useless' Y/n signed lightly
"You see, Harry and Y/n were helping me answer my fan mail for their detention...just like Ms. Kim mentioned earlier" Lockhart said
"That's why Ron and I went looking for them, Professor" Hermione said out loud "W'd just found them when they said---" Hermione looked at both of them debating with her eyes if she should tell him or not
"Yes, Ms. Granger?" Snape asked her to continue
"When we said we weren't hungry" Harry said right away
"And that we were tired" Y/n said and Ron nodded at their sentence
"But...If I'm not wrong..you two have been doing your detention for hours..how could you ...not be hungry?" Snape glanced at Harry while saying that
"Because He gave us Chocolate Chip Cookies and Milk" Y/n said pointing her head at Lockhart
"........."
"while your detention??" Snape asked her and she nodded her head. Snape turned to glare at Lockhart who looked everywhere but him.
"That's right..then we were heading back to the common room when we found Mrs. Norris" Harry said, Snape raised his eyebrow at him and turned to Dumbledore
"Innocent until proven guilty, Severus" Dumbledore stated
"My cat has been petrified.....I want to see some punishment!!" Filch whimpered
"To whom??" Y/n muttered making Snape glance at her, she didn't notice it
"We will be able to cure her, Argus..As I understand it, Madam Sprout has a very healthy growth of mandrake ..When matured, a potion will be made which will revive Mrs. Norris...And in the mean time...I strongly recommend caution..to all" Dumbledore said looking at the Gryffindors, particular one of them, who nodded back at him.
'he's right...I might be in danger...I don't know my blood status.. I might have Kim Potion inside of me..but..I still am from different universe where I'm easily called 'Muggle-born' 'Y/n thought while walking back to the Common Room.
"It's a bit strange, isn't it?" Hermione asked climbing the stairs
"It definitely is" Y/n replied beside her
"Strange?" Harry asked them
"You two hear this voice, a voice only both of you can hear..and then Mrs. Norris turns up Petrified. It's just strange" Hermione told him
"Do you think I should've told them??? Dumbledore and others I mean?" Harry asked his friends
"Are you mad?" Ron said
"No, Harry...Even in the Wizardly world..hearing voices isn't good sign" Y/n said and looked at Hermione, who signed. Both of them continued to walk
"They're right, you know" said man from Portrait beside the boys. They followed the girls.
"What's a squib?" Harry asked Ron who snickered
"Well...Its not funny..really...but as it's Filch..Squib is someone who was born into wizarding family but hasn't got any magic powers." Ron explained
"Kind of like opposite of Muggleborn Wizards" Y/n explained with easier words
"If he's a squib it would explain alot.. like why he hates students so much" Ron smile with a satisfied face and Y/n gave him a disappointed look
"His pet has been petrified!! can't you feel a little for him" Y/n said entering the Common Room to see Jake waiting for her. Hermione looked at her understanding the situation.
"Ron, Harry...go to your dormitories" Hermione said when the both entered the common room. They were about to ask why but both of stopped when they saw the look Jake had. They didn't need to be told twice, they left the common room.
Jake took a deep breath "Explain....what...you four were doing there?" Jake said making Y/n and Hermione look at each other
'If I tell him about the voices..I would be putting him into danger,right?' Y/n thought gulping
"We were just passing by.....Since Harry and I didn't showed up at Dinner because of our detention with Lockhart. Hermione and Ron were worried for us..so they came to get us and met both us, while we were walking back to Common Room" Y/n said, confidently lying
"They were telling us what they did on their detention until.. we found Mrs. Norris" Hermione said, helping Y/n.
Jake knew the girls were lying but he didn't want to force the truth of out them. he signed "okay....go back to your dormitories.. both of you had a rough day..G'Night" Jake said walking away, a little disappointed
'Why can't she just tell me the truth??? I'm her brother...well ..IÂ Â think I am..if something happens to her because of her habit of 'hiding things' i would----Why is she still so hesitant with me?' Jake signed while entering his dormitories
"Did Harry and Your Sister do that??" George asked him
"That's the best prank ever" Fred Cheered
"It wasn't a prank..someone petrified Mr. Norris" Jake said pulling out his tie
"Did Y/n tell you that?" Fred asked leaning on Jake's four-poster bed
"No..it was obvious....She was stiff as wood...its simple to guess it" Jake explained grabbing his pajamas..
"Well..it is only for our pretty model student here" George patted Jake's shoulder. Jake gave him a bored look and walked away from them
"She's hiding something from you, right?" That was enough for Jake to stop in his tracks
"What?" He turned to the twins "how did you end up to come up with that?"
"You always make a face like that when you're worried for Y/n when she's hiding something from you...or maybe when you don't get full marks for your tests" Fred chuckled. Jake was about to say something got interrupted
"Listen, Mate.... She will tell you whatever she's hiding..give her time to analyze it herself before telling you... She fought a Troll for Merlin's Sake" George said to his friend and Jake signed understanding
"Maybe........ You're right" Jake said shutting the door behind him. The twins gave a satisfied smile to each other while going back into their bed.
On the Other hand..Y/n was in a bad mood because she couldn't bring herself up to tell Jake everything. She knew he was mad, she knew he was disappointed in her. Hermione tried to comfort her but failed. Y/n was having a bad day, she had to wake up early in morning for nothing, she did something she can't even remember doing ,she can hear the voices she definitely shouldn't hear, she's somehow got suspected for petrifying a cat and on top of that Jake is mad at her.
'If I keep things from him, he'll lose the trust he has for me in no time...If he won't be able to trust me then.......who would?' Y/n thought closing her eyes. She wanted to sleep. even if its only for few hours..she wanted rest.
But unfortunately, she couldn't. She was hearing something again...not the threatening evil one..but a innocent hurtful one. it was crying. Y/n ignored it putting her head between two pillows but the voice wouldn't go away. Y/n spent minutes, hours trying to ignore it but the voice was just becoming louder and......clearer
"Its a cat!!!!" Y/n whispered angrily. she got up and bent down to see if there's a cat under her bed, but there was nothing except her trunk and her broomstick. She walked around the room trying to find a cat that was crying out so loud that Y/n thought of scolding the owner so bad that the person won't ever forget about their pet. Hermione got up Because of the noise Y/n was making under bed. Only these two were the ones who couldn't sleep heavily.
"What's wrong??? Why are you still up?" Hermione asked rubbing her eyes
"There's a cat in our dorm, Hermione....and its crying!! for hours!!! I can't find where the cat is!!" Y/n plopped herself on Hermione's lap. But Hermione was wide awake
"Y/n....there's no cat here..and even if there is one.. and crying as you're saying..I can't hear it....Hogwarts has a spell for pets, so they go out of the dorm without the owner's permission and create mess....none of us have cat...and its not possible for someone else's cat to be here" Hermione explained her friend who was laying on her lap
"Then......what am i hearing???? Are my ears ringing???am i going to be deaf?" Y/n panicked. Hermione smiled a little.
"No" Hermione lowered her voice "what if its one of the voice you and Harry were mentioning?"
"No, Hermione.... Its wasn't some animal's voice earlier today... What I can hear now is clearly a cat's voice.." Y/n said and both of the girls got lost into their own thoughts then a idea crossed both of their mind. they looked at each other
"What if it is Mrs. Norris?" They asked eachother in unison.
"Well...it could be...you hear the voice before she was petrified...so maybe you could hear her now too" Hermione guessed
"Hermione, there's no voice coming now..."Y/n said listening carefully to nothing.
"So...it is like randomly hear-able whispers that you hear" Hermione said and Y/n signed
"Something bad happened when I first heard a voice...And I hear cries now too..... At this point.....I can't tell if its just random whispers.....or warning" Y/n placed her head on Hermione's lap. Hermione played with Y/n's soft deep-brown hair
"We'll figure something out...I was thinking of asking the teachers about Chamber of Secrets..I don't know who should I ask" Hermione said and Y/n got up
"Professor McGonagall would be good..I have a feeling....and since there's no voice now..I'll try to sleep" Y/n got inside her blankets and Hermione nodded.
"Don't forget to tell me if anything happens or you hear something again" Hermione smiled to her friend who nodded
"G'Night"
"Good Night"

I know I'm late and I'm so sorry for that...
So Y/n can hear the voices too...you might be able to guess why...but why she can the cries of Mrs. Norris is a different story, that you'll find out soon.
