Chapter 36 - Don't Worry, Professor!

"I feel guilty using Uncle Eric's name but... it is the best option to get away from anything"

3rd Person's POV

After The Care for Magical Creatures class, Draco didn't showed up the whole day. Y/n overheard Pansy Parkinson saying that Draco was on bed rest. She knew he was faking it. Other than that, Everything was going well.

Hermione tried to catch up with Y/n in using time-turner but she was failing miserably. So, she decided she'll watch Y/n how she does it. She started paying attention to Y/n's every action before the class, but she didn't find anything odd. But Hermione still didn't give up. She made promise to herself that she'll catch Y/n using the time-turner.

It was Thursday morning. Y/n was sleeping peacefully until someone shook her vigorously.

"W-what?" Y/n asked as she sat up quickly

"Its almost 7:00.. wake up" Hermione told her.

"Hermione.. come on. I'm not the one who chose all subjects. I don't have any extra classes, so I don't need to use time-turner today.. let me sleep." Y/n murmured as she slumped back on her bed.

"No, I have to tell you something" Hermione said

"tell me what?" Y/n yawned.

"Its...a...... about... Ron" Hermione said shyly. Y/n peeked through the sheets to look at Hermione to find the girl beet red.

"What about him?" Y/n asked even though she knew but she wanted to tease Hermione.

"get up first!!!!!" Hermione said blushing. Y/n laughed and went to get fresh.

After being ready, The girls went to The Great Hall. Many students were already there. Y/n and Hermione sat next to each other so no one else could hear them.

"Why are you so sleepy, we didn't have much homework. What were you doing last night?" Hermione asked when Y/n yawned for 9th time since she woke up.

"Nothing much, I just read the 'Naruto Volume : 15'.... you go on.. continue what you were saying" Y/n replied as she dropped sugar cubes in her coffee.

Hermione told Y/n about the little skin ship she had with Ron during the class of 'Care for Magical Creatures'. Y/n listened to Hermione talk about her minor crush. Y/n grinned widely not because her best friend had developed a crush but because she knew that the 'crush' will be the love of her friend's life.

"But, Promise me you won't tell Ron" Hermione pleaded

"Of course I won't.. but you promise me that you'll never stop me from teasing you about it" Y/n said munching her sandwich.

Hermione grinned knowing that she'll never stop Y/n from doing something she enjoys. "Fine.. but try to keep secretive, so Ron doesn't understand. Only YOU and I should" Hermione said grinning while Y/n smiled back happily and coincidently her eyes fell the students who were arriving at The Great Hall and both Harry and RON were one of them.

"Speak of the Devil!!" Y/n laughed making Hermione blush again as she saw Ron. Y/n laughed harder at Hermione's reaction.

"What are you laughing about?" Harry asked as he sat across Y/n.

"Nothing you should concern about" Y/n replied instantly making Harry and Ron confuse. Soon, after Jake, Fred and George arrived. As usual, Jake sat next to his sister. He refused to tell Y/n about the people asking him about her. He kept it casual, even Y/n didn't notice.

"Oh on.. look who showed up" Ron groaned annoyedly. His friends followed his stare and found Draco and his goons enter.

"Its a pity.. I was enjoying the classes without a bugger testing out my patience" Ron huffed.

"Don't say it like that, Ron." Y/n chuckled

As Draco sat on the Slytherin table he started telling everyone the story he made up.

"Does it really hurt terribly, Draco?" Parkinson asked

"It comes and it goes. Still, I consider myself lucky. Madam Pomfrey said another minute and I could've lost my arm" Draco said in fake sad tone, loving the attention he's getting. "I can't do homework for weeks---can you do it for me?"

'Nice way to not do the homework. That pug-face will think Malfoy is paying attention to her while he's basically using her' Y/n thought while scoffing.

"Listen to the idiot.. He's really laying it on thick, isn't he?" Ron said scoffing as well.

"At least Hagrid didn't get fired" Harry said

"I hear Draco's father's furious. We haven't heard the end of this" Hermione told them.

"I wouldn't worry much... I told Uncle about this and in his replied he seemed like he could help us here. plus he loves getting on Lucius Malfoy's nerves, so maybe he'll enjoy it as well." Y/n said shrugging.

"He's been sighted!!" Seamus came running in with Daily Prophet in his hand

"Who?" Ron asked as they slide close to him.

"Sirius Black!" Seamus replied And Hermione pulled the news paper close to them as she was near to it.

"Dufftown?? That's not far from here." Hermione said as she read.

"You don't think he'd come to Hogwarts, do you?" Neville asked nervously

"With Dementors at every entrance?" Dean asked

"Dementor??? He already slipped past them once, Who's to say he won't do it again?" Seamus said to everyone around him

"That's right. Black could be anywhere. Its like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands" The boy said.

Harry tensed up since Mr. Weasley said that Sirius black is after him. Ron gulped nervously, Hermione kept reading the article. While all of this was happening, something else lingered in Y/n's mind. She scooted close to Jake and asked.

"Hey, Jake?" she whispered to him

"What?" Jake asked in whispered tone

"Do you know who is that guy?" Y/n whispered to Jake while starting at the unfamiliar boy.

"What? How am I supposed to know?" Jake asked

"I don't know how ..but I don't know who he is" Y/n told Jake

"He's in your year and you don't know?" Jake asked looking at Y/n. She shook her head instantly "Really??? He could be the returning student then" Jake guessed

"Could be it" Y/n said and continued on her breakfast.

After that, They made their way down to the dungeons for the Potion's Class. Few Male students kept greeting Y/n here and there. She felt awkward but still greeted back politely.

"Why are you so polite?" Ron asked Y/n while walking next to her.

"Its called Good Manners, Ron" Y/n replied

"yeah, keep doing it and that'll just make everyone like you more" Ron told her "And I thought you wanted to decrease the number of your admirers" Ron said smugly and Y/n elbowed him.

"Come on, Ron. That's just how Y/n naturally is" Harry said backing Y/n up

"Exactly, It is nice to have someone full of Politeness and mischievousness at the same time." Hermione said agreeing with Harry.

"Hey, How come Y/n gets both of you backing her up not me?" Ron asked looking at Harry and Hermione.

"Well, That's what Politeness give you" Y/n said smugly and entered the classroom. "WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED HERE??!!" Y/n yelled as she felt the sudden coldness. She was the first one to enter the class and because she left the door open everyone behind her started freezing up as well.

"The coldness is required for the ingredients you all going to use to brew the potion today, Ms. Kim" Snape said while putting a bottle on his table. "Eat those pills there, That will help you warm up." Snape said pointed at the table near the entrance.

Y/n walked up and took one of those pills which looked like 'M&M's' to her. It was little bitter but as it went inside, Y/n could feel her body warm up.

"If you all are done slacking off at the entrance, come inside" Snape said to the students who were talking to eachother at the back while eating the pills.

Everyone made their way in front of Snape and he begun to spoke "Today, You'll be making Shrinking Solution. Everything must be at right temperature, amount and size. You'll find the procedure on front board and steps on the page 67 in your books. If you have any worries, ask me and clear you doubts before ruining your potions... Go on"

"Excuse me, Professor?" A voice came from the corner of the crowd which everyone knew will say something

"Yes, Mr. Malfoy?" Snape asked

"I have an injury so I cannot brew the potion all by myself.. I didn't want to miss the class that's why I came today" Draco said trying to win Snape's sympathy. Which he did.

"Well, then... how about a volunteer????" Snape asked looking at students and then dropping his stare at Harry who looked like he definitely didn't want to do it.

"How about Mr. Potter?" Snape asked

"I'll do it" Another voice came but this time everyone was surprised.

"You'll help Mr. Malfoy??? Are you sure Ms. Kim?" Snape asked raising his eyebrow

"Yes, Professor. I think I can manage to brew two potions at once." Y/n replied confidently.

"I know that, Ms. Kim... you've been doing it all these time... What will Mr. Longbottom will do without you, today?" Snape asked. It was true that Snape despised most of the students but Y/n was one of his star students. She requested to him that she could help Neville with his potions so that the amount of mess and bullying get less. After few days, Snape agreed. Y/n was helping Neville all this time and Neville was thankful for that, he didn't want Snape to be more terrifying than he already was.

"Hermione can help for today" Y/n stated. Snape looked at Hermione who nodded her head, telling she can help him. Snape looked back at Y/n. "Well, It would be more convenient since you are better than Potter. Go now"

"No!, Why are you doing this?" Harry whispered to Y/n. He didn't want Y/n to be with Malfoy.

"If you go instead then he'll just annoy you.. and I don't want that.. trust me I can jinx him if he tries to do something." Y/n smiled to Harry and Y/n settled her belongings on a table. Her friends sat right next to her table. They sure didn't want to leave their friend alone.

"Not here" Draco said playing with his book while standing near Y/n.

"What?" Y/n asked closing her book and staring at the boy.

"I said we should not sit here... It will be more convenient to sit there" Draco pointed at the table in the corner.

"Hey, I'm the one who's going to brew the potion not you.. so there's no need for me to listen to you" Y/n spat and went back to read the instructions.

"Fine then, If you want your friends to listen what we're going to talk about." Draco said making Y/n's friends listen closely.

"There's nothing we have to talk about" Y/n replied not looking up from the book.

"Yes there is" Draco said making Y/n look up at him. He mouthed something which Y/n could read out as 'Summer Ball'. Y/n glared at the Malfoy. She grabbed her bag and walked towards the table where Draco pointed. The boy grinned when Y/n listened to him and followed her.

"What was Malfoy talking about.. what did he meant he has something to talk about with Y/n?" Harry asked his friends feeling unpleased.

"No idea... he could be just slacking off, you know, to get on our nerves" Ron said

"But then why would Y/n listen to him?" Harry asked roughly.

"The temperature" Hermione said making both boys confuse "Professor said the temperature is needed here, if I'm right then that table is the best place to brew this potion. Maybe Y/n found out as well and went there" Hermione explained to the boys.

"Less talking and more working if you can" Snape said

Hermione knew there was something Y/n was hiding but she knew there must a reason if she is. So Hermione decided she won't mention anything until Y/n's ready.

"So, You didn't tell your little friends about The Summer Ball?" Draco said sheepishly

"There's nothing to tell them because nothing. happened. there" Y/n said knowing that she sounded rude enough to hurt Draco Malfoy.

"But.. I had fun--" Draco got cut off by Y/n.

"Professor Snape said no talking... now heat up your cauldron at low temperature" Y/n told him and he did as she said.

"If you didn't want to talk why did you listened to me?" Draco said fixing the temperature of the burner

"Because The Shrinking Solution needs right temperature.. The place is you suggested was perfectly cold enough for it" Y/n said as she dropped a glass of ice cold water in her cauldron and then she proceed to  Draco's cauldron "That's why" She said pouring the water in his cauldron while looking right at his grey eyes.

"And then what about your sudden volunteering?" Draco said dropping daisy roots in the cauldron.

"I didn't want you to annoy my best friends.. because I know you would do it" Y/n said crushing the dried leaves of lotus.

"Oh yeah? if you like your friends so much why didn't tell them about the Ball you spent with me.. will that make your friends mad?" Draco said getting annoyed at the fact Y/n didn't want to tell anyone that hung out with him.

"Because we agreed to ignore how we are at school.. and because it was just for one night and I think you already know which has ended" Y/n said roughly in order to make Malfoy dislike her, she had to do it.

"But--" Draco was interrupted by a cold voice

"Just because you two are better students than anyone else here... doesn't mean you have the permission to talk" Snape said coldly standing right behind them. Y/n and Draco turned back to look at the teacher

"We're sorry, Professor" Y/n and Draco said together.

"I hope you don't dare to talk unless its regarding The potion.. and if you do.. don't complain when I'll take your house points..." Snape said and walked away

'If you asked me at my first year, I would say I was shocked that this Professor Snape doesn't favor the Slytherins during the class. But now, I've seen him do this many times. This Professor Snape doesn't hates the ones who aren't Slytherin.. He just hates each one of the students here.' Y/n thought chuckling as she stirred her solution.

At the end of the class. Only Y/n's and Draco's Shrinking Solution was success, Of course because Y/n was the one who did most of the work. Because of the mis-temperature Hermione's and Neville's Potion didn't work but Snape called it almost a success since they were just at wrong table.

Just when the bell rang, Y/n grabbed her bag and walked away from Malfoy without another word. It was true that he felt little hurt that Y/n didn't appreciate The Summer Ball as he did but he was not going to give up soon.

"Draco!! If you needed help you could've told me!!!" Pansy Parkinson came running towards him.

"I don't have time to deal with you, Parkinson" Draco spat angrily and walked away.

'Its going to take more than that if you want me to dislike you, Kim... Its nearly impossible' Draco thought as he watched Y/n laugh with Harry and Ron. Hermione wasn't there with them

The third years proceed to their next class of 'Defense Against The Dark Arts'. Everyone was excited since it was their first class of the year and the professor was new. They entered the classroom and surprisingly no benches were there. Only a big wardrobe was standing in the middle of the room. Professor Lupin was standing in front of it. He turned back with a smile.

"Would you please put all your books back in your bags. We'll have a practical lesson today. You'll only need your wands" Lupin smiled at the students. Y/n smiled excitedly at her friends who grinned back. It was the first time they ever did something practical.

Everyone stood in front the old wardrobe who was shaking vigorously. They were nervous not knowing what could be inside.

"Intriguing, isn't it?" Lupin asked in amused voice. "Would anyone like to venture a guess...as to what is inside?"

"A Boggart, Professor" Y/n replied confidently.

"Very Good Ms. Kim" Lupin smiled at the girl proudly. "Now, can anybody tell me what a boggart looks like?" Lupin asked as the wardrobe shook again.

"No one-" Y/n's voice got cut off by someone else

"No one knows" Hermione said

"When did she get here?" Ron asked himself while Y/n just stared at the girl since she was about to answer.

Ignoring everything, Hermione continued "Boggarts are shape-shifters. They take the shape of whatever a person fears the most.. That's what makes them so--"

"So terrifying... yes, yes, yes. Couldn't have put it better myself." Lupin complimented making Hermione glow.

"Luckily, a very simple charm exists to repel a boggart." Lupin said walking infront of the classroom. The wardrobe shook again.

"Let's practice it now. Without wands, please" Lupin said to everyone as most of them were about to pull out their wands.

"After me...... Riddikulus!" Lupin said loudly

"Riddikulus!" The class repeated after him.

"Very good.. A little louder and very clear. Listen. Riddi-Kulus!" Lupin yelled

"Riddikulus!!" The class repeated more clearly this time

"This class is ridiculous" Draco said bitterly as he watched Y/n smile at Harry.

"Very good. So much for the easy part. You see, the incantation alone is not enough.. What really finishes a boggart is laughter. You need to force it to assume a shape you find truly amusing" Lupin explained

"Let me explain. Neville, would you join me, please?" Lupin said smiling at Neville. Everyone turned to look at Neville. "Come on, Don't be shy" Lupin called again

"Go!" Y/n whispered pushing Neville a little. Neville walked in front of the class nervously.

"Hello" Lupin greeted "Neville, what frightens you most of all?" Lupin asked and Neville muttered something. "Sorry?" Lupin asked again

"Professor Snape" Neville said a little louder making everyone in the room laugh. Neville smiled apologetically.

"Professor Snape?? Yes. frightens all" Lupin chuckled "And I believe you live with your grandmother?"

"Yes, I don't want it to turn into her, either!!" Neville said nervously

"No," Lupin turned to look at wardrobe. " it won't. I want you to picture her clothes. ONLY her clothes, very clearly, in you mind" Lupin guided and Neville begun to think

"she carriers a red handbag...." Neville begun to said out loud as he thought

"We don't need to hear. As long as you see it, we'll see it. Now when I'll open up the wardrobe.... here's what I want you to do.." Lupin said walking towards Neville. "Excuse me" he told other students as he whispered something to Neville.

"What is he saying?" Harry asked Y/n in whisper

"I have a hunch" Y/n whispered back

Neville looked at Lupin with shocked expression. "Can you do that?" Lupin asked Neville who looked very nervous. "Yes. wand at the ready" Lupin said encouraging his student. "One, two, three" With a crack the wardrobe opened. Professor Snape walked out from it with a very scary face. His eyes never leaving Neville.

The Boggart walked towards Neville. Professor Lupin kept telling him to perform the spell and-

"Riddikulus!" Neville chanted

With a sound of a crack, Snape's black clothing turned into a green velvet dress, a very unique hat and a red handbag. The class burst into laughter. Being embarrassed Y/n laughed as well.

"Wonderful, Neville, Wonderful! Incredible! okay- to the back Neville, Everyone form a line" Lupin laughed as everyone excitedly stood in the line. Y/n ended up behind Harry and in front of Hermione. It was Ron's turn now.

"I want everyone to picture the thing they fear the very most and turn it into something funny"  Lupin said playing the music making the class 10X times better. "Next! Ron!"

Ron stepped forward nervously and pulled out his wand. "Concentrate. Face your fear. Be brave!" Lupin said and the boggart begun to change its body And then turned into a giant spider which kind of looked like Aragog. Many students behind Y/n gasped in fear.

Ron was terrified but he pulled out his brand new wand. The Giant spider started walking towards Ron. "Wand at the ready, Ron" Lupin told him.

Ron pointed his wand at the spider and chanted "Riddikulus!!!".

The Spider's legs now had Roller skates in all of them and he started slipping not being able to balance. The class burst into laughter. "YES!!!" Lupin yelled approvedlying. "Marvelous!! Absolutely, very very enjoyable!! Parvati! Next!"

Ron walked back with a very Proud face. He hi-fied with Harry with a smug look.

"Show us what you see" Lupin said as Parvati stood infront.  The boggart started shifting again and turned into a big Python which was looking at Parvati like he will devour her any second now.

"Keep your Nerve, Steady." Lupin said comforting Parvati was scared. She calmed herself and yelled "Riddikulus!!"

The snake turned into a peek-a-boo joker. A roar of laughter in the class again.

"And Next!!!" Lupin yelled and it was Harry's turn now. He happily stood infront while thinking what he fears.

The Boggart wasn't shifting yet. Maybe because what Harry was thinking about, it was way more terrifying than anyone else's fear.

Harry's smile dropped as he remembered someone he shouldn't. The Boggart started to shift.

"Harry" Y/n called for him in worried tone. He had heard it somewhere else. The same concern for him. He definitely heard it, On The train, when he was attack by a dementor.

Just like that, He saw The Boggart turn into the Dementor. When Y/n saw the dementor, She felt her blood run cold. She felt difficult to breathe. Just then, A hand was placed on her shoulder. Y/n turned to see Hermione looking at her with comforting face and Y/n instantly felt her body get calm.

"Here!!!" Y/n turned back at front as she heard Lupin yell. The Boggart instantly shifted into a full moon. Not being able to control herself. Y/n chuckled as she knew what it meant. But the thing was, everyone heard her.

"Riddikulus!!" Lupin chanted at the moon turned into a balloon. It flew around the room before Lupin plopped it inside the wardrobe.

"Right, Sorry about that. That's enough for today. 5 points to everyone who performed the spell and 10 points each to Y/n and Hermione as they answered the questions.... Collect your bags from the back of the class... that's the end of the lesson. Thank you, Sorry" Lupin apologized to the ones who couldn't perform the spell.

Y/n was about to get out the class. She knew she was about to get into trouble and she wanted to run away from it. But it wasn't going to happen like that.

"Stay here for few more minutes, Ms. Kim" Lupin said making Y/n stop in her tracks.

'Crap' she thought as she knew she was done for. What will she say now? She was supposed to hide the fact she knew everything. Y/n looked at her friends apologetically. They smiled at her telling her it okay, and with that everyone left the classroom. Leaving Y/n and Lupin alone.

There was silence for a long time which only made Y/n more nervous. She couldn't think of anything. But she knew she had to say something.

"Professor I--" She got cut off

"Your Uncle told you about me, didn't he?" Remus asked. Without a second thought, Y/n nodded her head. Remus signed "He really shares more he should..... He must really loves you, right?" Remus laughed rubbing his temples as he sat on the table.

"Well... I guess he does... He tells Jake and I, alot of things.." Y/n smiled agreeing.

' I feel guilty using Uncle Eric's name but... it is the best option to get away from anything' Y/n thought while she smiled cheerfully. 'wait, does it mean.... that He was uncle's friend!!!??'

"Does your.. brother knows about me too?" Lupin asked

"I don't know if uncle said anything to Jake...Uncle just told me separately... and.. only few things.. he didn't say anything in detail" Y/n said looking down at her feet.

'Nice way to get information!! I'm proud of you, my brain!!' Y/n thought smiling to herself.

"Well... I'm glad he didn't say much thing..but... I think you deserve to know" Lupin smiled at the girl.

"What it is that I deserve to know?" Y/n asked curiously.

"Well... Both your parents and uncle...... were my friends.. they knew that I was a... you know" Lupin told her

"Both of my..... parents???" Y/n asked in confusion

"Yes, Your father, Suho and your mother Irene were in the same year as me and my other friends... well, I must say. Suho, James, Sirius, Peter and I... were best friends... We even shared the dormitories." Remus said smiling

"And.. Your Uncle... he was.... let's just say... Suho wasn't the only one who had a elder brother.... all of us did.. Eric gave us the brotherly love... and your mother... She was the most popular girl in our year.. but she was very kind.. a dear she was.." Remus said smiling sadly.

"Well.... I didn't... knew any of.. that" Y/n said in complete disbelief. She thought that Suho and Irene were older than Harry's parents. This wasn't what she was expecting.

"Eric must've thought that he should keep it secret... after all.. it must have been sad with them passing away.. I can't even imagine what you have been feeling all this time.." Remus said walking towards Y/n.

"I..... don't know what to say" Y/n replied being dazed in confusion. "But, I know one thing..... Your secret.. is safe with me. I won't tell anyone.. I promise" Y/n smiled warmly at Remus.

"Now I know why everyone says you resemble your parents... You have the same energy just like they had.." Remus said chuckling as he patted Y/n's head.

Y/n felt uncomfortable being called same as Suho and Irene. But she didn't say anything and just smiled.

"Go on, now.... you're friends might be waiting for you.. and.. you know.. I think its really ironic that you and Harry are friends" Remus said laughing

"Huh??" Y/n asked

"Nothing, nothing... I'll tell you sometime later.. Go now.." Remus said and Y/n confusedly left the classroom.

She just few steps away and she saw her friends were waiting for her near the stairs. She walked towards them.

"I must say I'm disappointed.. I wanted to see my boggart.." Hermione said

"What do you think it would be?" Ron asked her "A Test paper with 9 out of 10 in it?"

Y/n laughed as this was what she heard. "I hate to say.... I agree with you, Ron.. It could be your boggart." Y/n said to Hermione while laughing.

"What did Professor say to you?" Harry asked Y/n

"Nothing much. He was just.. checking up on me... you know.. because of the dementor attack." Y/n replied as she walked away with Hermione

"But, Why only her??? Didn't I get attacked too?" Y/n heard Harry say to Ron. Y/n and Hermione looked at each other with a smile.

'Why do I feel like I'm becoming a better liar?' Y/n thought apologetically.

I got a sick few days ago and because of it, I kinda forgot to write.. But I wrote this as fast as I could.
