Aggresive Wife Chapter 258
âMackenzie, having a brother means that you have one more person to love you. It doesnât mean
Mommy will love you any less.â Madeline didnât want the three children to be on bad terms because
they were jealous of one another.
Mackenzie nodded. âI know. I love Colt. I donât like that man.â
âIs it because he got angry with you?â Madeline could see how Mackenzieâs opinion of Noah had
changed ever since the fire.
Even if she found herself unable to accept him, sheâd simply play tricks on him. It wasnât as if she
completely hated him.
âHe hurt Mommy. The only person he cares about is the son he raised. He doesnât want me to hurt
Colt. Thatâs why he was so angry at me.â Her eyes welled with tears as she spoke.
Noahâs expression when she showed up scared and hurt her.
That was the moment she realized that this man was not the person who raised her. He wouldnât
indulge her as Madeline or her godfather would.
He would blame her and yell at her for the sake of the son he raised.
Mackenzie had acted in countless movies as a child actor and was exposed to all sorts of stories that
prompted her to make up dramatized scenarios in her head.
Her grudge against Noah only deepened.
âHe isnât like that, Mackenzie. He was just worried. Think about it. We just got out of a sticky situation.
Heâs afraid of losing us. He got worried when he found out you and Colt had gone missing. Thatâs why
he acted the way he did.â
âItâs his first time meeting me. Heâs not going to love me like he loves all of you. He blames me for Colt
going missing.â She wiped her tears.
Madeline sighed at her daughterâs stubborn expression and took her into her arms. âYouâre staying
here for a while. Youâll see just how much he loves you if you talk to him.
Mommy is telling you this now. No matter what happens, no matter how many people I have by my
side, youâre one of Mommyâs most important people. I love you.â
âI love you too, Mommy!â Mackenzie gave her a peck on the cheek.
Thomas catapulted himself onto the bed after his shower. âLook, Mommy! I can do cartwheels!â
He then demonstrated it by effortlessly performing somersaults on the bed, surprising Madeline.
âYouâre like a monkey, Thomas!â Mackenzieâs sorrow came and went like a passing storm. She burst
into laughter.
Noah stood outside the door listening to the joyous laughter reverberating throughout the home. He
lifted his hand to knock only to let it drop to his side.
He couldnât bear to interrupt their happiness.
âWayne is on the phone, Mr. Noah.â Mr. Charles came up to him with a phone in hand.
Noah hurriedly quieted him with a gesture, then took his phone and moved away from the room.
âSir, weâve thrown Josephâs motherâs belongings into the fire. He took the bait and is now trapped.â
âGood. Youâve worked hard. Rest well.â
âYes, Mr. Noah.â
Noah hung up the phone and stood by the windows with his eyes glinting coldly. He nearly lost both his
wife and children tonight. He would have to settle the score with Joseph.
He hoped the despicable man managed to escape. Dying in a sea of flames was an easy death he did
not deserve.
His phone suddenly rang once more.
âMr. Quincy, this is Rowan Solace speaking.â
âCan I help you?â Noah was grateful to him for saving Madeline and the children. He didnât truly need
his help but heâd remember his kindness for lending him a hand.
He, however, had yet to let go of the time he lied about not knowing where Madeline was.
âAnnalise is hurt. Sheâs delirious from her fever and is calling for you. Would you mind coming by the
hospital just for a while, Mr. Quincy?â
âYou want me to visit the woman who plotted against my wife?â He scoffed.
âThereâs been a misunderstanding, Mr. Quincy. Come to the hospital. Iâll explain everything.â
âNo thank you.â Noah immediately rejected him.
âMr. Quincy, the Solace and Quincy families have been friends for years. Are you really going to ruin it
all because of a small misunderstanding?â
âMy wifeâs matter is not a small misunderstanding. You best watch your sister. Iâm not going to be so
merciful next time.â
If Rowan hadnât called, he wouldâve forgotten that Madeline wouldnât have fallen off the glass path if it
werenât for Annaliseâs actions.
âIf youâre so adamant about not coming, Mr. Quincy, the Solace family will withdraw our projects from
the Quinton Corporation. Oh, Iâm afraid Ms. Grant wouldnât be able to continue running the Charity
Association either.â
The Solace family spearheaded several projects that are highly important to the Quinton Corporation.
Noah could potentially be losing millions if they left.
He couldnât care less about that but what he did care about was Madelineâs Charity Association.
She attached great importance to it. She would be sad if it was ruined by the Solace family.
âNo one has been so daring as to threaten me like that in years.â
âI only hope Mr. Quincy can understand how much I love my sister.â Rowan hadnât wanted to be so
despicable as to threaten him either but Annalise was truly delirious from her high fever. She had called
the Old Mr. Solace and cried, succeeding in angering him.
He even said that if he and Noah didnât know each other, he would see the Quinton Corporation
disappear from Imperia.
What he wasnât aware of was that the current Quinton Corporation was no longer something not worth
its value like in the past.
Under Noahâs management, the corporation expanded. The Old Mr. Solace rarely paid attention to the
domestic market and was blind to it all.
If the Solace family went head-to-head against the Quinton Corporation, it would be difficult for the
Solace family to return to the domestic market to get a share of the pie.
There was nothing Rowan could use against Noah to get his point across. He had no choice but to
threaten Madeline instead.
He also, in secret, hoped to involve Madeline in the matter to reach and understand her.
If his guesses were right, it wouldnât matter how unhappy the Solace family was with the Quincy family.
It wouldnât affect the cooperation between the two when the truth came to light.
Madeline couldnât sleep after putting her two children to bed. Her mind was going on overdrive over
everything that happened earlier.
That was when she heard the sound of a rumbling engine. It was Noahâs car.
âItâs late. Where are you going?â Madeline gave him a call.
It was four in the morning. Why is he leaving so early after everything that happened the night before?
Does he think heâs invincible?
âThereâs something I need to do. Donât worry. Go back to sleep.â
âRest when you come back, Noah. Donât tire yourself out.â Madeline could barely keep the worry out of
her voice.
Noahâs clouded expression lifted at that. He let out a soft laugh. âIâll listen to no one but my dearest
wife.â
