Extra Part 1

Karma's Twin Sister2,301 words~12 min read

(A/n): This took place after (f/n)'s depression and the whole going into court thing. (F/n) and her brother is starting their second year as high schoolers, Principal Asano is back in his office running the school as smoothly as ever and everything is back to normal.

Oh and (f/n) just confessed to Gakushu, and he accepts.

******************

"It's great and all keeping me company in my dreams, every single night Mom." (f/n) said in the midst of their game of shogi. It's still unclear who has the upper hand but (f/n) has a vague feeling that her opponent is holding back. "But isn't about time you moved on?"

'Right cause this is my fault.' The older woman rolled her eyes. 'Or maybe it's because you love your dear mother too much to let her go.'

"Sure," (f/n) returned the same sarcastic remarks back. "Who wouldn't want their mother invading their private teenage life."

'Ooh, I hit a nerve.' She said glancing at the gameboard before removing (f/n)'s bishop, claiming victory. 'You lost focus. tsk tsk, making such novice mistakes, how unlike you.'

"I just don't understand...my confession was so out of the blue," (f/n) mutters deep in thought while clearing the table for a new game. "I didn't plan it, hell I didn't even get the timing right. It's so obviously a joke that it's laughable... so why did he accept?"

'You're thinking too much dear. Maybe the reason is as simple as 'it's because he loves you'.

"If he truly loves me then he would have seen that it was a trick, logically speaking one would avoid falling for such traps." (f/n) shook her head, refusing to believe her mother's words.

'Love is blind. Or whatever. I don't understand it too well myself since I didn't exactly marry your father because I 'love' him. But they say a person will more often than not act on emotion rather than rationality.' She said indifferently.

"I guess." (f/n) moved her pawn which was immediately eliminated by her mother. Annoyed she crossed her arms and glared at the board for a good hour, while her mom sipped her drink completely composed. "I hate this game." She says flipping the table.

'Maybe it's because you suck.' June calmly stuck her hand out from the sleeves of her kimono, willing the table back into its original state with a single wave of her hand. 'So what else do you want to play.'

"...Go." (f/n) answers after a while of hesitation. "and white please."

****************

"Clearly you're cheating. Scanning through my thoughts. Yeah real cool." (f/n) grumbles downing her cup of water, glaring at all her fallen soldiers because they failed her.

'And you're a sore loser because I did no such thing. But damn you are really off your game today, not a single win.'

(f/n) sighs, "What is the punishment this time."

'Sleep with Gakushu.'

She immediately spits out her drink followed by a series of coughing. "WHAT *cough* THE HELL *cough*."

'You claim he isn't serious and is only playing along with your joke. But I can tell that boy cares for you deeply.' Her mom lightly chuckles. 'But you don't have to take my word for it, just spend the night sleeping beside him.'

"Oh, I see. *ahem*." (f/n) said sheepishly with her face painted brightly in red. "...you want me to sleep beside him... ok I can do that."

'yes, and if he does anything to you while you're sleeping you'll know what his intentions are.' She then smirks. 'What did you think I meant."

"Nothing, absolutely nothing."  (f/n) glares. "Now tell me what was your real intentions for this punishment."

'Don't question the winner's decisions.'

(F/n) gave her an unimpressed look.

'Fine, I want myself some grandkids.'

"why!!" (f/n) shouts.

'well, you did ask why I still haven't moved on yet?'

"and that is your reason??" (f/n) gaped at her.

'yeah now shoo, wake up!'

"Dreams don't work like that."

'sure it does.' She pulled a lever. and everything starts to fade. 'now remember if you don't fulfill this task then you won't be able to sleep. And remember I'm always watching so no cheating.'

Was the last thing (f/n) hears her say before everything went black.

***************

(F/n) lies awake staring at the white of her ceiling, groaning in frustration as she recalls the deal she made. She glanced at her alarm clock which brightly shown on the screen, 2:00 in the dead of night.

"She can't be serious..." There's no way she would shut off my ability to sleep.

After trying numerous times to fall asleep and failing miserably each time. She just laid there in the middle of her bed thinking for a second she left out a helpless sigh. "Actually she would, wouldn't she. She definitely going to make me do the punishment in exchange for sleep."

Wait let's think logically... the human body would shut itself off if it's pushed to the limit. Eventually, I would have to pass out, right? Right?!

Somehow she already knows the answer but yet she persists.

A month later...

"Arghh! I can't sleep!"

"Well damn, it's not all about you (f/n)." Karma scoffs obviously done with his sister's whining.

"Can't you at least help." (f/n) turned to face him.

"I did." He sighs rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I helped for 2 days. Why dont you just follow my advice and just do what mom wants you to do."

(F/n) let out a surprisingly loud and dramatic gasp for someone who didn't sleep for a month. "That's Top 10 Anime Betrayals right there."

"Besides your antics are affecting me. My grades dropped by 0.2 percent."

Too lazy to retort she rolls on her sides and not look at Karma. But her coordinations are completely off and ended up falling on to the floor. Ow. Unfortunately, not even a concussion can make her pass out.

"Even your boyfriend asked me what was wrong with you," Karma said helping her up from the floor. "You know you're crazy when someone other than me notices."

"Arghhh." She grabbed a pillow and head for the door. "I hate you all."

"Sure you do," Karma said waving her off. "Say hi to the Prez for me,"

"Will do!"

******************

So tell me, is it strange to show up at your boyfriend's house out of the blue in the dead of night. Well, it sure didn't feel weird. All it took was a series of knocks on the door, a very vague "I need to see your son", and I'm in.

Of course, I could be delusional because of lack of sleep and forced my way in... who knows, I sure don't.

Heading straight to his room, (despite being the first time at his house, don't ask.) I was this close to kicking his door down but he opened it before I could raise my foot, which saves me a lot of time. 'You'll live to see another day, Door.'

"(f/n) what are you doing here." Gakushu asked looking very confused.

I pushed him and shut the door behind me for privacy. He crashed on to his table placed in the center of his room, it's about the size of a kotatsu.

"what the hell." He cursed out.

"I can't sleep!" I exclaim as if that answers anything, "So do not hinder me on my quest for sleep!"

"you're what!"

Gakushu is at a loss for words as I decided it was too difficult to explain my situation right now so I did what I thought at the time was the easiest way to shut him up. By bridal carrying him to his bed and dropped him.

Ignoring his every protest, I laid down beside him and placed a hand over his mouth. "Shhh, let me sleep I'll answer everything when I wake up okay?"

*************

I must say I slept really well. For once I didn't have to see my mother's ugly face, seriously the best sleep of my life. This better not become a habit.

I woke to the pleasant feeling of the morning sun hitting my face. It was nice until I remember this isn't my room and I should get up. But I'm no morning person so deal with it.

"Hey, are you finally awake?"

"Oh shit... I mean good morning." I said sweetly, and I can tell he's buying it (no he's not).

Gakushu crossed his arms. "can I get some answers now?"

This is embarrassing. I thought, putting myself into a polite kneeling position. "Just one thing how long did I sleep for?"

"About three days, here's your homework." He gestures to a stack of papers on his desk.

"sounds about right, and you know I never do homework."

"any other questions before I continue?" He asks losing a lot of patients.

"uh... do you hate me now?" I asked raising my hand sheepishly.

He blinked for a few seconds, "no I don't hate you. Not yet."

I flinch at the answer. "so what happened was about a month ago I consulted my mom about my uh... problems."

"Like at her grave?"

"no like in a dream," I said as if it's a normal thing. "Anyway, instead of sharing her wisdom and give me advice like a normal dead parent. She told me to, and I quote, 'Go sleep with your boyfriend so I can have grandkids."

"Why do I have the feeling that's not what your mother said?" He said.

"Ok, maybe the one month of no sleep finally messed up my brain but still, that's basically what I had to work with."

"I'm losing brain cells just being in this conversation." He rubbed his temples. "That big problem you needed advice from your mom what is it."

"Uh, here's a funny story." I laughed, then gave up on making something up and just told him about my insecurities about being in a relationship with him.

Now it was his turn to laugh. "That was what started all this. you're freaking amazing to cause this much headache over something so small."

I can almost feel my cheeks boiling from embarrassment. "there happy? Now you have blackmail material on me.  Tell Karma, make my life miserable. Why not."

"Nah, I don't think I want anyone else knowing about this. It's too good to share." He chuckles wrapping an arm around my torso. "Though next time you want advice maybe ask someone less insane like a therapist."

"But my mother is a therapist."

"I thought she was a scientist"

"My mother is a lot of things." I shrugged.

"you know that makes a lot of sense," Gakushu said thoughtfully. "why you grew up to be so twisted."

*************

I gotta say this whole experience isn't too bad. I got to finally meet my dear mother-in-law, making that very important second impression. Since the first impression was me barging into the house at the dead night claiming that I need to see his son because (insert reason here).

"I'm sorry for acting so recklessly, mother-in-law. It just that Gakushu's birthday is coming soon and I wanted to bake him a cake. But..." behold my acting prowess as I willed my tears started to well up. "I don't know how to use the oven. you see when I was young my parents passed away and I didn't have a mother to teach me how. I was going to wait until the next day but I just couldn't wait that long and I," more tears. "and I was so rude to you that day. I'm so sorry."

The more I told my sob story, the more sympathetic she felt and her motherly instinct could not resist wanting to help me. Of course, the trick is also not overdoing the tears and give too many details about the situation and she bought the story hook and line.

She bent down and gave me a tearful hug. In the late afternoon is where the two of us, mother and daughter-in-law finally baked our first successful cake. I shared it with Gakushu of course. His mother happily praised how delighted she is to finally have a daughter. In the midst of our conversation, she somehow got me to stay for dinner, before heading back to the kitchen.

Once she left the dining room and out of earshot Gakushu turned to me and shook his head, "you would make one heck of a con-artist."

"I finally found a use for my weakness of being unable to bake." I giggled shoving a slice of cake into my mouth.

"I'm sure your grades in home ec is enjoying itself."

"shut up," I retorted.

Sitting right across from me I can see Principal Asano shaking his head displeased at my irresponsible usage of crocodile tears. He then brought his attention back to his newspaper.

"why such a sour face, dear father-in-law?"

The face I got from both him and Gakushu is just priceless. They both look like they want to cough up blood.

***************

"And here I was thinking, I didn't have to see you again." I glanced up at the older and uglier copy of myself.

Well you're wrong, I just felt like going on vacation for a while. Look at the souvenirs I got back. She brought out a file folder with the words embarrassing-fantasy-from-elementary on it.

My eyes widen. "no! not my dark history, give it back."

Unfortunately, she evades all my attempts to retrieve my memory back.

Oh here's a good one, a dragon vaporized a village and the useless hero dies to a piece of rock. Or how about this one where the-

"Omg please stop." I buried my face in my palms. "why can't you just rest in peace and leave me alone."
