" What if she has a concussion?"
" The doctor didn't say anything so I don't know."
" Do you think she'll ever wake up? "
" She's not in a coma she just fainted."
" What are you guys going to dress up as for Halloween?"
" Seriously. Now is not the time."
" She looks kind of hot passed out."
" I won't hesitate to punch you. "
" I'm hungry. "
My head feels as if an elephant used it as a seat. With everyone talking around me the throbbing is increasing. Damn you noisy people.
I try moving my head to the side but the pain that shoots through from the sudden movement makes me stop and groan instead.
" Holy fuck she's alive. She's alive! "
" She wasn't dead you idiot."
I sigh as I realize that I'm completely surrounded by idiots.
Slowly cracking open one eye I come to view with four pairs of eyes. Emily, Tyler, Mason and Zac are staring back at me with worried expressions.
My eyes roam over the room I'm in. Pale white walls, two uncomfortable looking chairs placed beside the wall and a few machines next to me that are making annoying beeping sounds. I'm in a hospital room.
I look back to the group of people in the room and roll my eyes. Leave it to them to rush me to the hospital after I fainted.
" Why is Mason here?" I ask angrily as my eyes zoom in on him.
Zac chuckles while the rest just roll their eyes.
" Glad to hear I'm the first thing you are thinking about." Mason winks.
I wriggle around slowly trying to reach for the remote to call a nurse or something to drag Mason out of the room. I won't be able to let go of this head ache if I have to hear his annoying voice.
" Easy there Ally. " Emily warns as she pulls me back into my laying position. She puffs my cushion behind me a few times before going back to the rest of the group. The 4 of them just stare at me.
" Stop looking at me as if I'm on the verge of dying." I chuckle at their worried expressions.
Mason takes my words as a cue to leave the room while Emily sits down on the chair next to me. Tyler's eyes don't leave mine, only to glare at Zac every so often.
" You just fainted out of no where. I didn't know what to do. It was horrible Ally. I thought you were dying or something so we rushed you to the hospital." Emily explains as she takes my hand in hers.
She can be so over dramatic.
" I'm fine. The only thing that is going to kill me is this headache. " I say massaging my temple.
Emily continues on explaining that Trish is down the hall getting stitches for her leg. Once she brought up Trish's name I was instantly reminded of the blood that came from her wound. I seriously can't believe I passed out from a little blood. There goes my tough girl act.
" Miss Brigde, glad to see you are awake." A middle aged man announces as she steps into the room. From what he is wearing I assume he is my doctor.
" Kids, I told you to stay out of the room until she is awake." he scolds, looking over at the 3 pairs of guilty eyes.
" But dad-" Zac whines.
Dad? Realization hits me as I take in the middle aged man's appearance and compare it to Zac's similar appearance. Well damn.
" Stop acting like little kids and scram. I have to do a few test on Miss Brigde." he orders.
Emily stands up from her sitting position and squeezes my hand before following Zac out of the room. Tyler doesn't move from his spot.
The doctor looks up from his click board and raises his eyebrows when he sees that Tyler hasn't left the room.
" Are you family?" he questions.
I'm about to reply when Tyler beats me to it.
" I'm her boyfriend."
My boyfriend? Hearing him refer to himself as my boyfriend sends a weird feeling down my body. The doctor nods his head in understanding and smiles. He walks closer to me while looking over the files once more.
" Right Miss Bridge. You had quite the fall." he jokes.
I restrain myself from not rolling my eyes at his lame attempt of a joke. Don't get me wrong, he seems nice and all but he's the reason Zac doesn't want to come out and express his sexuality. I can't help but feel a little upset when looking at him.
" I will ask the nurse to call your parents-"
" No!"
The room falls silent as both of them give me a weird look. I clear my throat after realizing that I probably sound like a complete mad woman now.
" I uh mean that it won't be necessary for them to drive all the way up here. I'm 19 so they don't have to be here if I'm not mistaken?" I question.
I do not have the energy in me right now to face either of my parents. Mom will probably turn this whole thing around and put the blame on me. No thank you.
" You are correct. What about the needed financial aid? " the doctor questiones again.
" I have savings." I shrug. With mom and dad sending me money weekly I have more than enough money in my savings account for incase of an emergency. I'm pretty sure this counts as an emergency.
" Very well then. Nothing seems to be injured or broken. You have a slight concussion so you might be experiencing some headache and uneasiness when moving around such as being light headed. Other than that nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. I'm just going to run a few more test to reassure everything is in place and I'll discharge you after getting the results back. " the doctor explains.
I only fainted. I didn't expect something major to be wrong with me. I'm sure a lot of people faint when seeing blood so I still believe it was unnecessary to rush me to the hospital.
Better safe than sorry.
" I'll be back in a few." the doctor excuses himself. Before he leaves the room his eyes zeroes in on Tyler as he shakes his head. Soon enough it's just me and Tyler in the room.
Neither of us make an attempt to start up a conversation. The room is filled with an uneasy atmosphere. I know Tyler is burning to ask me what happened but he's trying to keep it to himself. Still leaves me feeling slightly uncomfortable.
" Can you pass me the water please?" I choke out after a few minutes of complete silence.
Tyler doesn't say anything as he walks over to where a jug of water and a glass was placed and fills up the glass.
" Thank you." I say as he hands over the water to me.
He takes a seat on the chair where Emily was sitting in before having to leave the room. He stays quiet but his eyes never leave mine.
I hate it when people just sit and stare at me.
It's unsettling.
" What happened?" he finally asks after what feels like hours.
I gulp as I place down the empty glass of water next to me.
" I'm not a fan of blood." I slightly chuckle.
Tyler doesn't seem to find it funny as he looks at me with a blank expression. After realizing that he isn't going to get more out of me he sighs and rubs his temples.
" I'm just glad you're okay." he breathes out as he places his hand on top of mine.
Out of habit I immediately pull my hand back. The sudden movement made Tyler pull his hand back to him.
" Sorry-"
He gets interrupted by the doctor who steps back into the room.
* * *
" Guys, seriously I'm fine." I groan as Emily brings the spoon filled with soup closer to my lips.
" You were in the hospital yesterday. We are just taking precautions." she shrugs before pressing the spoon harder onto my lips and eventually getting access to my mouth. She smiles like a proud mom as she retracts the now empty spoon.
I glare at her. Ashton lifts up the heating pad from my head to feel how warm it is before putting it back. This is really unnecessary. I'm not sick.
" Time for your pills." Emily announces before she sprints to grab my antibiotics the doctor prescribed from the bathroom cabinet. I still don't think it was necessary for the medication but it is needed for the concussion I got myself into. At least my head doesn't feel as if it's going to explode anymore.
I groan as I try and turn my back towards Ashton but he stops me by pulling my shoulder back down onto the bed.
I throw a glare his way but my attention is shifted when the door opens and in comes Tyler with a set of keys jingling in his one hand and a tub of ice cream in the other hand. If it wasn't for the ice cream I would have flipped because he still uses the spare key Emily gave him.
" I'll take the ice cream." I say excitedly as I stretch my arms out towards it.
Who can say no to ice cream? Especially when it's cookie dough flavor.
" Glad to see you are feeling better." Tyler chuckles.
I'm just glad that things aren't awkward after what happened in the hospital yesterday just before the doctor came back. I still feel bad for reacting that way when he was only trying to show that he cares. I guess I'm just not used to getting affection from people who genuinely care for me.
" The doctor put you on bed rest for the next week so you'll just have to deal with me baby-ing you." Emily shrugs as she comes back with my antibiotics and a water bottle.
Why I got booked off for a week I still don't know. At least now I have a legitimate reason to stay in bed and binge watch a few series on Netflix. With college and all the drama, I haven't gotten a proper chance to catch up on the latest series. It's a shame really.
" We have to start thinking about Halloween." Emily gasps after force feeding me my antibiotics and having her regular gossip session with Tyler.
" It's still 3 weeks away babe." Ashton chuckles while looking at how excited Emily is about the whole thing.
I have to admit that I'm a sucker when it comes to Halloween. It's the one time of the year girls get to dress up slutty and not get slutshamed, well it depends on how revealing your 'costume' is. I love dressing up and putting on extra makeup and going out to celebrate the odd holiday.
" I don't care if it's 3 weeks away. I'm running out of time to get a costume!" Emily freaks out.
I cringe as my headache increases from her voice. This girl is going to be the death of me.
" What are you going to be Ally?" Tyler questions. I don't miss the slight action of his tongue moving over his bottom lip. He would just love to know what I'm planning on wearing. Well me too seeing as I don't have a clue.
I shrug my shoulders and close my eyes. I surprisingly start to drift off while Emily talks about possible outfit ideas. As the minutes roll by their voices start to fade out.
" Let's go out for lunch so that she can sleep without us bugging her."
" Dommy's?"
" Yes I'm starving."
" I'm going to stay here to keep an eye on her."
" That's sweet of you. We'll be back within an hour. Call me if you need anything."
The next thing I hear is the closing of a door and then silence. I can feel Tyler's intense gaze on my back. It's as if he's trying to find answers by looking through me. I sigh before turning around to face him.
My eyes are still gloomy and it takes me a while to focus on Tyler's figure. I'm still half asleep as I beckon for him to come closer. My eyes open and close slowly as he walks over and bends down so that he is eye level with me.
I slightly glare at him making him chuckle.
" Stop frowning. It's not meant for your beautiful face." he says softly as he tucks a loose stray of hair behind my hair.
Am I dreaming?
" H-hold me." I don't know what I'm more surprised about. The fact that those words just left my lips or how hoarse my throat is.
I don't wait for an answer as I turn my back on Tyler again and drift off to sleep. After a while I feel him move me up a little before I feel the warmth of his body being pressed up against my back.
I let out a shaky breath from how close Tyler is to me. We are both laying on a single bed so I can't really be surprised. Yet I'm not complaining.
Just before I drift off again I feel his arm wrap around me protectively and an unwanted smile makes its way onto my face.
Who the hell have I become?
