As I walked back to my granny's shop,

Nai Nai was already cleaning up the shop, preparing to close for the day. I lent a hand, helping her sweep and tidy up the shelves. Once we finished, she handed me a warm dinner, and we sat down to eat together.

"How was your day, Mei?" Nai Nai asked, her eyes sparkling with interest.

"It was good, Nai Nai," I replied, taking a bite of my dinner. "Better than yesterday, anyway."

Nai Nai smiled, her face creasing with wrinkles. "Let's hope tomorrow is even better, then."

I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude for my Nai Nai's unwavering support.

"Nai Nai, I met someone today," I said, hesitating for a moment.

Nai Nai's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Oh? Who was it?"

I took a deep breath. "Her name is Yumei. She's from a nearby school, and she's...different."

Nai Nai raised an eyebrow. "Different? How so?"

I thought back to my encounter with Yumei. "She's got attitude, Nai Nai. She talks with this confident swagger that's kind of intimidating."

Nai Nai chuckled. "Ah, I see. Well, Mei, let me tell you something.

She paused, taking a sip of her tea.

Nai Nai's eyes sparkled with wisdom.

"Yumei may have attitude, but that's just a part of who she is. You can't judge a person by just one trait, just as you can't judge a book by its cover."

I nodded, taking in Nai Nai's words.

"Remember, Mei, everyone has their own story to tell. And sometimes, the people who seem the most different from us can end up being the most interesting."

I smiled, feeling a sense of understanding wash over me.

"Thanks, Nai Nai," I said, giving her a hug.

Nai Nai smiled, hugging me back. "Anytime, Mei. Now, get back to your studies. You've got a bright future ahead of you."

When I got to my room, I received a message from Bao. "Hey, how was the Board Casting Club meeting?" she asked.

I smiled, thinking back to my encounter with Zhiyu. "It was interesting," I replied. "I met a senior who's actually the son of my dad's friend."

Bao's response was immediate. "No way! What's he like?"

I hesitated, unsure how much to share. "He's... nice, I guess. I'll introduce you to him someday."

Bao sent me a string of excited emojis, and I couldn't help but laugh. I chatted with her for a bit longer before settling back into my studies, feeling grateful for my friends and family, and the little joys that made life worth living.
