AFTER TWO DAY ~

As I stepped into the school auditorium, I was greeted by familiar faces. Bao approached me and wrapped me in a warm hug. "Hey, Mei, we're all here for you," she whispered.

The rest of the group followed suit, offering words of comfort and support. I smiled weakly, feeling overwhelmed by their kindness.

My eyes met Zhiyu's across the room, and he smiled at me. I felt a flutter in my chest, but didn't know how to react. So I just looked away.

Mrs. Chen approached me, concern etched on her face. "Mei, how are you doing? Are you okay to present your project today?" I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Yes, Mrs. Chen. I'm ready."

The presentations began, with Yang and Lily going first, followed by Bao and Wuhao. When it was my turn, Zhiyu went up on stage to do his part of the project. He did an amazing job.

Then it was my turn. I took a deep breath, steadying my nerves. Mrs. Chen praised me, and Zhiyu came down from the stage, hugged me tightly, and whispered, "It's okay, everything will be okay."

I felt a nervous thrill run through me, but pushed it aside, focusing on my presentation. As I began, I felt like I was surrounded by a sea of eyes, but slowly, the faces in the audience began to look like people again.

I completed my presentation, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. We waited anxiously for the results, our fingers crossed.

Finally, the results were announced. Bao let out a loud whoop, hugging me tightly. "We won! We won!" She exclaimed.

The auditorium erupted in cheers and applause as we made our way to the stage to receive our award. The thunderous clapping and whistles enveloped us, making my heart swell with pride. I felt a sense of accomplishment wash over me, like a warm wave of validation. Every late night, every early morning, every sacrifice and effort had led to this moment. And as I stepped onto the stage, basking in the admiration of our peers and teachers, I knew that it had all been worth it. I felt proud of myself, proud of my team, and proud of what we had achieved together.

But amidst all the joy and celebration, a pang of sadness hit me. I couldn't help but think of Granny, who had always been my biggest supporter. She had encouraged me to pursue my passions, to work hard, and to never give up. I wished she was here to see me receive this award, to see the fruit of my labor. I felt a lump form in my throat as I thought about her.

And then my thoughts turned to Yumei, my best friend who had been with me through thick and thin. We had shared countless memories, laughed together, and supported each other through every up and down. But Yumei wasn't here to celebrate with me. She had been taken from me in a tragic accident, leaving a gaping hole in my heart.

I took a deep breath, trying to hold back tears. But even in grief, I felt a sense of gratitude towards Yumei. She had been my rock, my confidante, and my partner in every sense of the word. I knew that she would want me to be happy, to celebrate this moment, and to keep moving forward.

"Thank you, Yumei," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Thank you for being my best friend, for supporting me, and for believing in me. I miss you so much, but I know you're watching over me, smiling at me, and cheering me on."

Just then, I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder. It was Zhiyu. He gave me a soft, reassuring smile, and I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. He had always been there for me, supporting me, encouraging me, and believing in me. I was so thankful to have him by my side.

As I looked into his warm, gentle eyes, I felt my heart skip a beat. In that moment, I knew that I couldn't imagine my life without him. He was more than just a friend or a classmate - he was my rock, my confidant, my soulmate.

"I have to have him", I thought, the words echoing in my mind like a sweet, tender melody. I need him like I need air, like I need music, like I need life itself.

Zhiyu's eyes met mine, and I saw a deep understanding and empathy there. He knew what I had lost, and he knew how much Yumei meant to me. He smiled softly, and wrapped his arms around me in a warm hug. "We're all proud of you," he whispered. "Yumei would be too."

As we accepted our award, I glanced over at Zhiyu, who was beaming with pride. I felt a flutter in my chest, and for a moment, everything else faded into the background.
