Virion Eralith
(One Week Later)
"Where are you thinking of sending young Virion?" The three Asura asked me, truthfully, I didn't know yet, but he was going to want to be around action, I couldn't take that away from him.
"Either I'm going to send him with my granddaughter and have him fight in the dungeons with her, we could also send him to the wall to help out, but I truly don't know where to place him." I spoke honestly to the Asura.
"Is that because you care for the boy, or you actually don't know?" It was only him and me in the council room, all the other members were either doing something outside the castle or taking a break from planning.
"Both." I told him. "Of course, I care for the boy, I took care of him for multiple years, but if I send him to the dungeons, he'll clear it with ease. If I send him to the wall, he'll be bored, and he won't be able to do much there anyways."
"You may be right about the dungeon but sending him there would be the safest option for him. We could put Virion in the base and tell him to run through the dungeon at whatever speed he wants." I thought about it, that might be the best option for him.
"He isn't officially a Lance yet, so he can do what he wants for now, that's probably the best option. If we put him on a team, he'll do all the work, if we let him just stay at the base and do what he wants, I'm sure he'll behave and clear the dungeon while he is at it." There was one thing that worried me though. "However, what happens if they target him again?"
"He took down one Retainer, and that made Agrona quiet down with his troops." The Asura's third eye stared at me, but I was used to it at this point. "I don't think Agrona will target him again for a while."
"You are probably right, Virion can take care of himself, no matter his age." Uto still refuses to speak, we can't get anything out of him. "What about the soldiers there? You think they'll be fine with a kid running around."
"You do know what they call him, right?" Aldir asked me.
"Yes, the Devil of Dicathen." I nodded, most of the soldier have heard about the story of the kid who killed one hundred Alacryans by himself. "They will be happy to see him, I'm sure."
"Well, happy or scared, the boy can control their blood." That was true, he could. "What was Callias's report on him when they got back from Widow's Crypt?"
"That he slaughtered them, easily, no mental breakdown that he could see." The mental stuff I was happy about, I knew he would be able to kill the mana beast with no problem. "He said that he actually was calm the whole time."
"We know Virion, that boy is different, not in just the ways of magic, but in his personality at his age." Virion fought in the dungeons for a year, kill people, he has matured a lot, so it made sense. "Look at his twin sister, he may look a little similar, but there are countless differences. I don't think the little Leywin girl could take a life, and walk away, acting like it was nothing, like Virion does."
"I don't know enough about her to say, but I understand what you are saying." Virion could defeat me in a fight, he was smart, clever, and had some ideas for future battles. "Then that's it, we send him to the dungeons."
"Send him to the same place Tessia is at." I was already thinking that he protected her once, so having him there would be good. "I would wait a week to send him though, give him time with his family, which I know he has had plenty of, but he is a boy."
"Yeah, I agree, putting him with Tessia is wise." I waved at a guard standing against the wall in the front of the room. He came running over as soon as he noticed. "Albold, go get Virion." He bowed and left the room, in search of the boy. "Or would putting him with the Twin Horns be better?"
"Move the Twin Horns to where Tessia is, and it solves that issue." Aldir said, he was right, that would work. "That dungeon will be clear in a month with all of them there."
"Good idea." The Asura being here helped a lot, but my conversation with Virion brought up some speculations. That boy was smarter than Aldir thinks, he knows stuff about the Asuras that no one except for Arthur and me should know. I don't how he figured all that stuff out, but I could tell he was hiding other things. I wasn't going to push him for information, he would tell me if he wanted. "When is Arthur coming back?" When he comes back, hopefully, he can talk to Virion.
"In time, that boy will return." Aldir never told me an exact time, it frustrated me. "Is there something troubling you?"
I shook my head. "It's nothing." I think when Arthur comes back, I'll bring Virion back, because the two of them will be officially made Lances. "And we are sure, that Virion should be a Lance? We had this talk already; I want to make sure that it's the right choice."
"What do you think?" Aldir turned the question toward me.
"Without a doubt, if it wasn't for his age, I would make him one without question, however, he is ten, almost eleven, I believe, but will people follow a ten year old into battle?" Virion was going to be a Lance, it was already decided, I want him to thrive when he is one.
"They already do." As he spoke, two people walked into the room, Virion approached us, as Albold went back to the wall. "Virion." Aldir nodded to him.
"It's good to see you again, Aldir." Virion nodded his head back, I noticed he didn't bow or say general to him, I knew why, he doesn't trust the Asuras. "I've been summoned, you finally letting me leave for a little?"
"We are." I told the boy. "You are going to be leaving for the same dungeon Tessia is at." When I said this, his eyes widened, not in surprise, but it looked like excitement. "But, Virion, you are going to have free access to do whatever you want there, no team, nothing, you will be acting as your own team."
"Shit." The boy laughed. "I have to ask, is Callias there?" I checked the sheet of paper I had laid out on the desk; it was the list of soldiers at the base.
"He is not." I didn't want to move him and his team, that would make it crowded. "I'm sorry."
"Oh, it's fine, I was curious, that's all." Virion waved it off. "Am I leaving now?"
"No, in a week we will send you." Aldir told him.
"Good." I don't understand why this boy loves to wear that black cloak over his small amount of armor.
"Why is that good?" Aldir asked him, he most likely thought that Virion would want to leave as soon as possible.
"I didn't want to clear the dungeon too fast." What was he talking about? Aldir and I looked at him confused; he should want to clear dungeons fast. "Sorry, I don't know why I said that."
"Alright then, prepare yourself, do what you need to do beforehand, and be ready in a week." I told him as I wondered why he didn't want to clear the dungeon too fast. "I think Lance Aya is coming back tomorrow, so you could spar with her before you leave."
"That's perfect, are the Alacryan attacks still slow?" He asked us.
"Yes, after you took down that Retainer, the attack rate diminished." Aldir responded. "I don't think anything will happen to you in this dungeon, so you have no need to worry."
"I wasn't going to worry anyways, you know me." Virion smiled towards us both, he was maybe the only person I know, that could stand in the presence of a god like being and be totally relaxed. Even right now, I've spent a lot of time with Aldir, but I still get chills and shivers sometimes. "And I don't think there will be any either."
"How would you know?" I asked this time, wanting to see what the boy thought.
"Let's call it a guess." Virion shrugged. "I think the Alacryans are going to wait until the battles are above ground to target me again, they'll avoid me in the dungeons until then."
"Tch, you are that confident in yourself?" I squinted at the boy. "Yep, you are exactly like your brother."
"I try to be." Virion said as he rubbed his eye. "Is that it? Can I leave?" He slowly began to turn around, but Aldir stopped him.
"Wait." Virion stopped and looked at Aldir. "How's your core been? You used to being in white core now?"
Virion shrugged his shoulders, and then waved his arms. "Yeah, I think, I got the flying down." I saw him practicing the other week. "It's not like it matters in a dungeon, I won't be flying that much."
"True, okay, you can go." Virion tilted his slightly and left the room. "That boy is something else." I turned to the god as he faced me. "He is unfazed when he looks upon me, not many Lessers can do that, you can, but you've been around me."
"I was thinking about that earlier, Virion is always calm, not matter who he is talking to." I wonder what went on between Uto and him, from what I heard, Uto compared Virion to himself, which did alarm me, like a lot.
"That kid already defeated a Retainer, I thought he was a threat to Agrona before, but when his brother comes back. The two of them are going to cause some chaos for him, they are going to make this harder for Agrona to win." I understand what he is saying, but it felt like he already thought that Alacrya was going to win.
"Let's hope that Virion doesn't have to face another Retainer any time soon. He was a mess after facing the first one." He was a mess, but was okay a couple hours later, which was crazy.
"He'll face another, that's guaranteed, it may not be a Retainer though." The way Aldir speaks about the Scythes and Retainers scares me. I know Arthur is training to defeat them, but Virion didn't, and he was able to, so that does please me.
"Virion and Arthur will take care of them, I have faith in the Leywin boys." Both of them care too much to let anything happen to Dicathen.
"I don't know about that, but they are Dicathen's only hope for victory." Aldir said as his one eye stared at me.
The saviors of our continent were two brothers, each one gifted in magic in their own ways, it was hard to comprehend if you didn't know them, luckily, I did, so it didn't surprise me.
"That is if you lead them correctly, Virion." I stood up from my seat around the table.
"With your help, I am sure I'll do just fine." Aldir has helped me a lot so far, I could see why he was the one sent to help us. He had a war like mind, one that was full of strategies, which was useful. "I'm going to my room for a little, General Aldir."
I started to walk out of the room, getting no response from the Asura, he sat there in silence as I made it into the hall.
The road ahead of us was going to be extremely tough, everyone was going to have to play their parts in the upcoming battles.
