Chapter 111: Healers

My Beginning After the EndWords: 13464

It's funny, I made up a lie about a dark energy, and now it's coming true. I guess that's what I get for lying.

I continued to hold the curse, where was my mother? I still don't think it's going to work; it would be way too easy.

"How long can you hold it?" He asked me, and I looked up at him.

"I have no clue." I could probably hold it for a while, I still had a lot of mana. "My mother just needs to get here soon."

The old elf had a worried expression on his face, I didn't mean for any of this to happen, but it's good I did. Now, we can figure this out, before something happens to her. There's always a way to break curses in books, I have to think outside the box.

I continued to hold the curse, that's when my mother came walking in. "Elder Virion, Veer, what's the problem?" She asked as she walked over to us.

"Mrs. Leywin, please, we need you to use your healing magic." Elder Virion and I gave her a sympathetic look. "To help stop the curse."

"I thought we already decided that it wouldn't work." My mother didn't like to use her magic, but they discuss it as Elder Virion said.

"Mom, I need you to push you healing magic throughout her body." I told her, still stopping the curse where it's at. "We're trying something new."

"Oh, okay, I'll try." My mother walked up next to me, and we stood side by side.

"Thank you, Mrs. Leywin." Elder Virion held Cynthia's hand, and my mother started to chant something under her breath, then a green light began to emit out of her hands. She aimed the spell towards Cynthia, and I watched as the healing magic got inside of her.

I pushed harder on my blood healing, aiming directly at the curse, while my mother focused on healing her body. "No problem Elder Virion." My mother told him as we kept on trying, I didn't feel a difference yet. "Veer, can you sense the curse?"

"Yes, mom." It wasn't working. "But it's not working, the curse is still there and activating."

"It's activating?" What other ways can you kill a curse or stop it? If we had Aether, that may work, but that may not be enough.

"It is, I'm currently keeping it stable, not letting it activate any further." Elder Virion shot me a look, and I shook my head. "It's not working, mom, stop, keep your mana, we may need it."

My mother turned to me, and then released her healing magic. "Veer, are you sure it's not working?"

"I'm the only one that has direct contact with the curse, since I can control blood." I leaned my head on her shoulder. "Elder Virion, it's not working, we need to try something else."

"What else is there to try?" Elder Virion spoke with a concerned look. "You wanted Arthur here, but he can't use healing magic."

"You wanted Arthur too?" My mother asked as she held my head, I was still concentrating on stopping the curse. "He's not a healer."

"I was hoping he had an idea, you know him, he just got here moments ago, but he's the type of person to save the day when needed." Sylvie might be the key here, or Arthur in his second phase.

"That's true." My mother agreed with me.

"I'll go and find him; he should be coming back soon." Elder Virion stood up and left the room.

"Veer, you're doing a good thing here." My mother spoke as she continued to hold my head. "I know Arthur just came back, and everyone is talking about him, but what you are doing here is remarkable."

"Oh, I don't really mind it, I love Arthur, he's my brother." If we hadn't waited this long, maybe we would have saved her already. However, it looks like it didn't matter, none of us had the magic to do so. Maybe if I had healing magic like my mother, I could double the strength of the spell. "I'm surprised that not of us have your healing magic, mom."

"It's a rare ability, healing magic, I would say you have it though, with your blood magic, it just works a little different than mine." She was speaking with a very kind voice, that made me feel comfortable.

"I guess you are right." How long was Arthur going to be gone? Saving Cynthia was important, she was a strong mage, smart, and could help us. She may change something for the better, who knows. "Are you happy Arthur is back?"

"Of course, why do you ask?"

"I don't know, it seemed like for the longest time, dad and you had hard feelings about what happened the last day we saw him." I was trying to buy time and make conversation with my mother.

"That was over something that was between us, but trust me, your father and I are over it, we love your brother, and we love you." She pulled me closer to her. "We love all our children, and we are glad to have Arthur back, he means the world to us."

"I'm glad he's back too." Our whole family was here for the first time in forever.

"Veer, if there is something you ever want to talk about, you can always let us know." I think she was referring to the fact Arthur was a reincarnate, I told myself I would never tell my parents, but now that I am eleven, and I think more about it, I feel like they deserved to know.

"Okay, I'll keep that in mind, but there isn't anything at the moment." I sensed the approach of Arthur; he was finally back. "Arthur is here, well, he'll be here soon."

"You can sense him from here?" My mother asked me as she let go of me.

"Yeah, I can feel his blood, you know that." I told her, she knew how my powers worked.

"I do, I didn't how far it reached, that's all." She sat down in the chair, as I continued to stand and hold the curse. "Your blood magic can do so many things."

"I know." I smiled at her, and they all walked into the room. "Arthur, we need you."

"So it is that bad." Arthur said with Sylvie on her head. "Nothing has been able to heal her?"

"No." Elder Virion told him. "No mage has been able to help, even your brother's blood healing isn't working."

"Why do you want me here, Veer?" Arthur asked, which worried me that he didn't have an idea.

"I was hoping you had an idea." I looked at him with a shrug. "But seeing as you just got here, it would make sense that you don't."

"Do you know how the curse works?" Arthur walked up next to Elder Virion. "Maybe I can help if you explain it."

"I have no clue how it works; all I know is that it prevents her from speaking about Agrona and Alacrya. However, I can sense that the curse is all throughout her body, but it only shows itself in certain spots." I paused for a second, and then continued to talk. "When the curse activates, it shuts down the body, and then eventually kills."

"And you've tried all healing methods?" We all nodded at him. "Haa." Arthur exhaled. "Let me see if I can do anything." Arthur pointed his hand at Cynthia and tried to do something, I made sure to keep the curse deactivated while he did. "Veer, you are stopping the curse from activating right now, right?"

"Yeah, at the moment."

"Stop, let it go for now." I listened to what he said and stopped using my blood magic. The dark aura started to emit again, and I think everyone except my mother sensed it, because both Elder Virion, Arthur, and Sylvie's fox form made a face.

"Arthur?" Elder Virion said out loud.

"Veer, stop it again." Arthur told me, and I used my blood healing again, stopping the dark aura from emitting. "I don't know."

"Shit." Elder Virion shook his head in disappointment.

"Sylvie." I looked up at her on Arthur's head. "Does she have healing magic?" I knew she did, but I wouldn't know it if I wasn't from another word.

Arthur looked at me suspiciously, I did say I knew she could talk. "She does." Sylvie jumped onto the bed. Sylvie started to crawl up to Cynthia's head, and the room fell silent. Arthur spoke again. "Stop it again." I listened, and watched as a purple mist came off of Sylvie and went into Cynthia.

If this doesn't work, what else will? How are curses destroyed in books?

Wait, what if I'm using the wrong spell? I could try to kill a curse with a curse, however, that may end up killing her anyways.

Sylvie stopped, and I felt the curse still there, so without anyone saying anything I stopped the curse. "Her healing didn't work either." Everyone gave Cynthia a meaningful look, thinking nothing was going to work for her.

"Uhh." I made a noise, everyone turned to me. "Alright, I have an idea, but it may be the worst idea ever."

"What is it, Veer?" Arthur asked, and I kept on processing how it would work.

"Virion?" Elder Virion want his best best friend to live, and I wanted her to live, I think we all did, she was figurehead in Dicathen.

I wanted to keep my curse spell a secret, hold on. "Arthur, can you explain your second phase of your Beast Will."

"Okay, in my second phase, I can sense mana, and see spells coming before they form." He was keeping the fact he can use Aether a secret, that he can use Aether to some degree, not fully. "I don't see how that would help."

"I don't either." I told him honestly and started to form my blood curse in my hand. "Elder Virion, mom, do you mind if you leave the room?"

"Why?" Elder Virion asked me.

"I want to try something, but I need it to be just Arthur and me." This will either kill her or heal her, it's stupid but a hell of a plan.

"Alright." Elder Virion got up; my mother joined him. "Arthur, make sure nothing goes wrong, please."

"Veer, don't do anything you shouldn't." My mother caressed my face, and then started to leave the room.

"I'll be here, everything is fine." Arthur told them, and they both left. "What are you thinking?"

"I wanted to keep my magic a secret from as many people as possible." I told him as I finished the curse in my hand. "I have a spell, that allows me to place a curse inside of someone, and activate it whenever I want, right away or never."

"And what, you want to place that spell inside of Director Goodsky?" I smiled and nodded my head at him. "Nope, no way, Veer, that is stupid."

"Listen, I place the curse in her, we arrange it, so when I activate it, the curse dies, and not Director Goodsky." I paused, thought it over a little more. "If you are in your second phase, you can manipulate mana, right? You can help arrange the curse inside of her, you can help me place it in the right spots."

"That's risky, you know that though, don't you."

"Arthur, you just got back, and I know whatever you just saw was probably really bad with the ships, but trust me, this will work." I placed my hand on Director Goodsky's arm and passed the curse onto her. "It won't activate unless I want it too, so we are fine if you don't want to do this."

He started to think it over. "What's stopping it from killing her?"

"Hopefully, Sylvie and you can prevent that, what I am thinking is, we arrange the curse, to the right spots, and as I activate the spell, Sylvie and you protect Director Goodsky from it, and then when the curse dies, I deactivate my curse, and just leave it in her. It's only a spell that will activate unless I want it too, so it would be fine." It was dangerous, but possible.

"Let's try it." Arthur nodded at me, and Sylvie in her fox did as well, which was funny. I felt a sudden urge of power, Arthur's hair began to change color, and runes grew down his arms, seeing his second phase was amazing.

"Actually, maybe I should be in my second phase as well." It would help with my control, and make me stronger, so I activated "Blood Monarch" and my hair changed to red, runes appeared under my eyes, and scales grew on me.

"Wow, this is the first time I'm seeing you in this form." Oh, yeah, it deactivated before Arthur showed up at Xyrus Academy. "I can see how people rely on you, the power coming off of you is potent."

"Thanks, let's do this." I started to manipulate the curse around in her body, to the spots where the Alacryan curse was. "I need a minute; can you sense the mana moving?" I kept on going while we spoke.

"Yeah, but I only sense one spot where the curse is." My blood magic helps me see it all, that's why they couldn't heal her in the novel.

"I'm ready." I had my curse laid out where I wanted. "In the spots, where you sense my mana, I need Sylvie and you to prevent the curse from spreading for just a couple seconds, okay?"

"You know if this doesn't work, Veer, we are going to be the ones who killed her."

"Thanks for the confidence, brother." I shook my head with a smile on my face. "Tell me when you're ready."

Sylvie and Arthur began manipulating mana, then Arthur spoke. "Go ahead."

"Here we go." I activated my curse and felt the blood curse start to eat away at Director Goodsky, I waited, and waited, and waited, until I didn't sense the curse. "Done." I stopped my curse from spreading any further, and then deactivated it. The room fell silent, as the three of us examined her. "Did Sylvie and you let anything happen, or were you able to hold my curse back?"

"We were good." Arthur told me. "I don't sense the curse where I did before, did your plan actually work?"

"I don't sense it anymore." I smiled a little brighter. "I think we did it, now she just has to wake up." She was still alive, we all sensed it.

"You didn't kill her at least." Arthur said, as we looked down at the Director, I did injure her slightly, maybe a little more than slightly. I started to use my blood healing again, this time to repair the damages I caused. "Veer, I know you're strong, your magic is something else, but you are my younger brother, and I want you to be safe. However, I see now, you can handle yourself."

"Is this you telling me I can fight?" I smirked at him.

He smiled at me. "It is." I didn't need his approval, but like I said earlier, it felt good to have.
